How Exactly Do These Online Leagues Work?
Can I get into one with just an internet connection and OOTP 8?
If so, anyone with a league that needs teams? Preferably a league with real MLB players that isn't in the year 2015. Anything else I should know? I've been interested in getting involved in a league for awhile now.

Yeah....sometimes a league that is in 2015 isn't, necessarily, a bad thing. The one good thing about it is that you are generally assured that each GM is only running 1 team.
I would be very skeptical of getting into a league where 15 replies to get into the league, are from guys with less than 5 posts on this forum and just registered in the last month or two.....but that is just me. |

I have to agree with you on that when you are looking at it innocently. I was speaking more of the jagoffs who have more than 1 screen name on here and are trying to run more than 1 team.....which, of course, ultimately ruins a league and the time everyone puts into it.

I was actually just about to post a similar topic, but had the foresight to take a look first.
First post here, but not exactly new to the game, I've just never played other than solo. I'm curious to know precisely how the actual gameplay works. I would assume that it's GM play only with no managing of each individual game? Who typically does the game simming? Is it the commish or do the owners sim and then upload the game files? What's the general time frame for how long it takes a season to be completed? Of course I realize the answers to those questions could (and likely do) vary from league to league, but I'm just curious as to how the gameplay would typically work. Most of the league websites I look at have a pretty detailed and specific rules section, but don't exactly detail how it all comes together. Last season was my first without fantasy baseball (and I didn't particularly miss it) and I'm wondering if something like this might fill that competitive void that hasn't been filled yet, especially since I spend so much time playing it on my own anyway. |

A season's length can vary greatly. In my league, for instance, sims happen thrice a week and cover 2 weeks' worth of in-game time, so this fast pace leads to a season being done in about 2 months (without the offseason). Other leagues have a slower pace, and/or sim less games at a time, so I suggest you look around for something that fits your schedule. Online leagues are a great way to get competitive. Not only are your adversaries real humans, but that also means that it's harder to make lopsided trades.
