Overlords (Historical) Baseball League
Name - Overlords Baseball League
URL - http://www.overlordsbaseball.com Type - Historical league Rules - League Rules Number of teams - 16 OOTP 2007/OOTP8 required Currently available teams: NONE We started our league in 1930 and are currently beginning the 1934 season. We sim fast - three times a week (Sun., Tue., Thur.), two game weeks per sim. Both the Braves and Athletics have lost their owners during the offseason. Neither team is in particularly bad shape, but they could use a caring owner. I've been watching over both for the last real life week or two, but obviously most of my time is going to go towards my own team. We have a steady Commish presence, as I have co-commished the 4OTP and was a founding commish of the GGNL, as well as participating in two other OOTP leagues over the last six years. BDog has been rock solid during his time with the OBL as commish and as an owner in other leagues. We're hoping to find experienced owners who have a history of participating in their leagues. We'll take someone who just gets their exports and draft lists in on time, but participating in league discussions in our forums once you're in the league will be nice as well. Anyone willing to write occasional league articles or updates would be great, but we don't ask anyone to do that if they don't want to. If you're interested in joining us, please post in this thread. If you've played in OOTP leagues in the past, let us know which ones. The Braves have two decent starters in Russ Van Atta and Bill Walker. Neither is a true ace, but they won't embarrass you. They have a nice young catcher in Ray 'Iron Man' Mueller. He hit .287/.339/.364 for a 18 VORP at the age of 21 last season. The Athletics boast Mickey Cochrane behind the plate, he of the 75.2 VORP and .348/.447/.543 line in 1933. They also have 22 year old Joe Medwick in left field who has hit .312/.357/.444 over two seasons and has 9/9/5/4/10 ratings. Developing in Triple-A is starting pitcher Cy Blanton with 4/9/7 talents - enough to be a very good ace in our league.

Yay! 98-78, .556% vs. the New York Yankees. Last edited by Kelric : 01-14-2008 at 06:43 AM. |

Listen to Kelric!
We have a great group of owners and the Braves & Athletics are good franchises that deserve committed owners. Oh, it's also worth pointing out that since we sim 2 weeks at a time, 3 days a week, we finish a complete season (including the offseason) in about 2 month's time. Since the league's inception in May of last year, we've completed 4 seasons...and we'll likely complete another 6 in 2008. So, things move quickly, you get to see your players develop, and you can turn around a team in a short period of time.

B-Dog and Kelric both do a great job as our commissioners.
Great group of owners, a lot of fun. The Boston Braves won our first World Series in 1930 over Satchel Paige and the Detroit Tigers. Paige and the Tigers later went on to take the crown in 1931 & 1932 over Lou Gehrig and the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1933, that one glorious, glorious season, Gehrig's Dodgers finally swept the Tigers for their first World Championship. ![]() Can the Braves return to glory and stop Gehrig and the Dodgers as well as Jimmie Foxx's Giants, or Lefty Grove's Phillies? As far as the Athletics, you can't go wrong with Cochrane & Medwick. |

We definitely appreciate the interest. If you're late to the thread and think you may be interested in joining the league in the future, give BDog a PM or e-mail us at oblcommish@gmail.com and one of us will get back to you.
