Longtime Historical League (in 1960) Looking for Two

- League name: The Antiquity League
- League URL: http://antiquityleague.anthonygiacalone.net/home.htm
- League type: Historical (currently in off-season 1959-1960)
- Number of teams: 10 (expanding to 14 with 1961 draft, 1962 season)
- OOTP version: 2007/OOTP8
- Ratings: 1-20
- Sim Speed: M-TH, 7-8 says per sim, approx. One Sim Month per Real Week.
- Special Rules: Uses financial, coaching, modified medical, three minor league levels, MLEs for all players that ever played in the majors, talent change randomness only 20, NO scouting

My league, the Antiquity League, is a ten-team league that has been together since 1927 (or a little over five years). We have a very solid core of owners drawn from a variety of professions and acquaintances. I am currently trying to change the culture of the league and that's why I am looking for experienced, quality OOTP owners. For years we had used Yahoogroups to communicate but I'm directing us toward using the league forum (http://antiquityleague.14.forumer.com/index.php) for all league business and communications. Of our eight remaining owners (I've dropped two for lack of participation), seven of them are very good in terms of being quick to make trades and participation with their teams. Of the other two, one is my Dad, so he's kind of given a break, but even so, he's willing to make a deal if you give him a few days.

The Antiquity League draws from the 16 major league teams and any player that debuted before 1958 and was still active in professional baseball (using MLEs for minor leaguers). Prior to 1958, we have always used DMB but we switched to OOTP2007 for the 1958 season. Since most of the league is still figuring out the ins-and-outs of OOTP2007, you all would be at a competitive advantage. We sim approximately thirty sim days per real-time week and complete approximately six seasons in a calendar year. Ownership of OOTP 2007 is not required but it is very strongly recommended. The league uses three levels of minor leagues, coaches and financials, but not scouting (and only a modified doctors system). The league webpage can be found at http://antiquityleague.anthonygiacalone.net/home.htm.

The league is very balanced so the two available teams are pretty solid. The Los Angeles Bums (http://antiquityleague.anthonygiacal...ms/team_6.html) play in the weaker of the two divisions. In 1958, they won their division (80-75) and the National Series. They also won their division in 1959. Over the last couple years, they've overhauled an aging roster, so that they now feature excellent young players like Orlando Cepeda, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, Norm Siebern, Julian Javier, Chris Short and Juan Pizarro to go along with veterans Robin Roberts, Vern Law, Johnny Logan, Stu Miller, Ted Abernathy, Bob Purkey and Tom Morgan and prospects, Bob G. Smith, Hal Woodeshick, Larry Sherry and Dick Ellsworth .

The other available team, the Baltimore Huns (http://antiquityleague.anthonygiacal...ms/team_3.html), are the red-headed stepchild of the league. They have several marquee players but their talent is very unevenly distributed (too many corner OFers and 1B for example). Their pitching is decent but not well-adapted to their extreme pitchers park. Their roster includes Ken Boyer, Roy Sievers, Harmon Killebrew, Johnny Roseboro, Del Crandall, Joe Adcock, Wally Post, Nellie Fox, a severely injured Vada Pinson, Wes Covington, Mike McCormick, Bob Friend, Harvey Haddix and a few prospects, like Jim Kaat, Jim Maloney, and Claude Raymond.

If you are interested in assuming the general managership of one of these teams, please let me know as soon as possible. We are in midst of the 1960 draft and expect to start free agency the week of Feb. 11.

If this is not a good time, please let me know if you'd be interested in taking control of one of the league's four 1962 expansion teams, which will begin drafting sometime in the spring of 2008. We already have three committed owners for those expansion teams. The league will also expand by four teams again in 1969 (around December 2009).

Thanks for your time and consideration,

Anthony Giacalone
