Major skin problem
I attempted to install a custom skin downloaded from padres fan site. When I start the game up I get an error message...which I have attached as a jpeg. Then when I attempt to start a new game, the game just crashes. I have deleted the skin folder which I tried to use, then uninstalled/reinstalled the game, but nothing changes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Two ideas. First, I think that the game is still trying to load that old skin of yours. Could you try renaming the skin folder for a working skin to the folder name of the skin that caused you your problem and see if that works?
When you reinstalled the game, did you first delete the C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Out of the Park Developments\OOTP Baseball 8 folder? If not, try doing that. It's a hidden folder, of note. |

I'm in vista...and I don't believe vista has "documents and settings" where else would I look?

Oh really? Hrm. Try this link: 4sysops - Documents and Settings in Vista
I'd try the renaming skin folder renaming trick, first, though. Did that not work? |

That looks like a v2007 version. Aside from renaming the skin.bin file (which should work) could you provide the name of the skin file from Padres? We'd want to make sure 1) that the skin IS designed to be used with that version and 2) that someone else using it is having the same problem or not.

Ok...so I found that app data folder (vista has it as C:\users\(your username)\appdata\roaming\sports interactive\ootp baseball 2007) and deleted after another re-install. That worked.
The skin I was trying was the mlb.com skin...which looked really nice in the screenshot so I was bummed out that it didn't work.

Sidenote: This Vista location should be added to an FAQ somewhere, if it isn't already, as this has come up numerous times in Tech.

I never attempted the same skin again, just for the sake of saving myself hours upon hours of headache.
