"Tools" menu -> "Advanced settings" -> "PUP exceptions" -> push the "Add exception" button to add a new exception.

Browse to the OOTP8.exe file (probably C:\Program Files\Out Of The Park Developments\OOTP8\ootp8.exe) and add that as an exception.

In any event, OOTP8.exe must call on the lcmmfu.cpl file to make sure the license is there, and it's interpreted as a virus. Add the OOTP8.exe file to your exclusions and you're good to go.
ootp8.exe or ootp9.exe?

im still having problems. how do block individual files?

With OOTP9 you may have to add the actual .cpl file as well. I'm not at home, I don't have game access.

I made an exception of both the ootp9.exe and the .cpl files. However, I still get the same virus message. Any help would be appreciated.

What worked for me was adding 'CPL' to the "exclude files" box as suggested, and also deleting "CPL' from the box below "Always scan files with the following extensions."

On top under "Files scanned by resident shield" click on "scan infectable files and selected types of documents." This should allow you to edit the box. At least it did for me.

Did not work for me.

If I do this, (In AVG, you can go to Tools -> Advanced Settings -> Resident Shield -> Exceptions and then exclude the C:\Windows directory), OOTP 9 will work. Unfortunately, this leaves my computer at risk.

Please help!

I just disable Resident Shield before running OOTP and everything goes fine.

This worked well for me too. Hopefully I won't get any cpl viruses. I'd move to Clamwin except that I don't think it has a scheduler or active scanner. You have to scan manually.

Avast created a problem with Incredimail, so I re-installed ACG Free 8.0
and much to my surprise OOTP 9 works and Incredimail works again. I don't know what happened but I will leave well enough alone.
Maybe I can check out OOTP 9 now.

I have excluded CPL from resident shield, and excluded OOTP 2007 and OOTP 9 in PUP exclusions as described above, and both OOTP 2007 and 9 work just fine. Thank you to those above who figured this out.

Although I'm sure I'm not the first to do so, I did email elicense support to alert them of the issue. They issued me a 'ticket number' and promised a response, so hopefully this is a very short term problem.

Thanks again for the help---lots of people will benefit I'm sure.

I have various .tmp files snagged by AVG as threats. I just turn off that part of AVG and did the pup thing. Nothing worked until I disengaged that part of AVG that is causing the problem.

I switched after using AVG for about 5 years, and I wouldn't change back.
