OOTP 9 Version 9.2.0 (Patch #5) Released!

Hey guys,

we have just released the latest patch, version 9.2.0! It fixes all reported bugs which we were able to duplicate and also introduces the following two features:

1) Pitchers in 7-Day Lineups - You can now assign starting pitchers in the 7-Day Lineups page, giving you full control over your team when you sim a week at a time! Online leagues, rejoice!
2) Lock player position - In the Player Strategy screen, you can now lock a player into a specific position, so that the AI will not change the player's position when setting depth charts and lineups. This feature is great if you don't worry too much about your minor leagues, but you really want to teach certain individual players certain positions!

Other improvements:
- Fine-tuned player development
- Improved AI in multiple areas
- Enhanced play-by-play and news stories
- When 'owner controls budget' is disabled, then cash is factored into money available for extensions

Please download the full setup files here, and simply install over your existing OOTP 9 installation (no need to uninstall):

Thank you Markus. I play 'em all out and have to say the game continues to get better with each new version with this being the best OOTP yet. I should get in a couple of more seasons with 09 before moving my league into 2010. Best bang for the buck of any games on my HD.

Thanks for the patch.

I am new to OOTP. As a whole I think you did a nice job on the game. Most of my posts are either asking questions or pointing out things I think could be better, so I wanted to take this opportunity to say nice job.

Also, this game has a very helpful community which enhances the experience.

I am getting the following error upon trying to restart a saved game after 9.2 installation:

DATABASE::load_database - could not load world file

Please advise....

Mark, this error indicates that something is wrong with your league... are you sure it properly loaded in the previous version? You could zip the .dat files of the league and email me (markus@ootpdevelopments.com), I'll look at them tomorrow.

I've mentioned this before, but will again just in case it may help. When I have run into the world file problem with newer versions/builds, I suggest:

Temporarily remove your saved league from the saved game diretory.

Let the game boot up as usual to the opening screen only, then select Exit Game.

Replace the saved league back into its original location. Start the game.

When you get to the opening screen, select Load Game (and select your league) rather than the Continue button.

Not that this will work for you, but in every case I've experienced the problem, this workaround has enabled me to load the league. Let us know.

I work the 4th, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Sometimes you get to do things that others count on their schedule.

Although it's his company. Maybe he should have sent himself home, or to the pub.

Ok, I'm in 4 online leagues, including 1 in which I'm the commisioner. I don't want to patch my league yet as I want to make sure it's stable. No offense Markus. I've just seen way too many patches for way too many games over the years need immediate follow up patches.

So, if I don't update, my league is still on 9.16. But what if some of my GMs update? Can they still export? Can they still download the league after a sim? And if I don't update and one of my other leagues (or multiple other leagues) does patch, can I still participate? I guess I'm asking if 9.16 and 9.20 are cross compatibile?

Oh, and don't get me wrong. I REALLY appreciate the work that's been done on this game and on this patch. I'm just cautious about updating software is all.
