backup & text files question

If I'm doing a manual (copy & paste) backup, do I need to backup files in the OOTP Baseball 9\saved_games\GameName.lg\news\txt\teams folder, such as these?

team_18_transactions.txt
team_58_all_transactions.txt
team_155_injuries_1962.txt
team_51_news_1961.txt
team_143_development_1957.txt

If so, do they need to be backed up if they are empty? I'm asking because in a particular league I have over 30,000 of these txt files, yet 'only' 2,100 of them have data in them.

Thanks in advance.

You know those settings in Global Setup for "Keep news logs (injury logs, transaction logs) . . . "? I have mine set for "None." I notice only the current year files have any data, and they get wiped in the offseason or preseason. Even so, the game makes year-labeled files anyway, each with 0 bytes. So, I am reasonably sure that you would be safe to sort the folder by size so that all the 0 bytes are together, then delete them. The number of files with no data will coincide with whether you have your options set to saving "None," "2 years," or "10 years." You obviously don't have them set for saving "All."
