Cy Young's 400th Win..With a Twist!

I'm up to 1907 now in my historical sim, which began with OOTP 2007...

Cy Young was at bat in the bottom of the 7th, leading the Senators 6-1 in pursuit of his 400th win, when he got called out on strikes...he argued the call and was ejected.

The Red Sox held on, so #400 was in the books, but the league suspended him for 6 games for bumping the umpire!

Nice news stories for each!

I've shut suspensions off for the early years of my replay. There were actual fights back then, not the weak stuff they have now.

Amen, brother. I've read a lot of stories about those days - like you said, actual fights, and lots of them!

Suspensions

Kelric,
Not sure how far back you are going, but in the early 1900's suspensions were actually very common- especially for arguing with an umpire. Certainly the game was rougher, but there was still plenty of punishment handed out.

1871. Bit more wild west than the 20th century.
