BZ 1740: "Scroll bars" option (vs. "Page selectors" being ignored

Game is totally ignoring the flag I attempt to set on this preference (yes, I have restarted). It insists on the page selectors, which makes it impossible to generate useful reports (it's not feasible to copy and paste 101 separate pages of players).

Is this occurring on all screens that normally have the choice?

What are your system specs?

Yes, as far as I can tell it affects all screens that have the choice (the only one I care about is the amateur draft screen, since I like to open in a spreadsheet to sort them before I pick).

Also, I should have mentioned this was working the first few times I played the game. However, I haven't done anything (addons, etc.) that should have changed anything. I purchased the game after the first patch was out, so I never "patched" it, either.

Specs are XP Pro, 3.6 GHz processor, 2G Ram

Thanks for responding.

I am not 100% sure on this but I thought the game doesn't allow the scroll bars on pages that would have really long lists. I could be totally off on this one but I seem to remember this issue last year. You should try to find a screen with a shorter list of players and find out if this works there.

I know that used to be a problem with Windows a couple of versions ago, but I've never tried with the newer versions to find the limit to a scroll window, but it used to be 32,767 bytes in ME/95/98.

I never had a problem with long lists using scroll bars on the last version of OOTPBB. Just to be sure, I just filtered out a list of players to get it down to just two pages, and it still doesn't work (game insists on using page selectors).

This is what I think too. In the opening rounds of my most recent Inaugural Draft I couldn't scroll... once I got a bunch of rounds under my belt, the selectors went away and I could.

It's possible that the game is ignoring the fact that the filters are in place when forcing page selectors. Can you please try checking another, shorter, unfiltered list?

Ok I tried it on the "available personnel" screen, which had enough names to overfill one screen. In that case, it worked (scroll bars appeared instead of annoying page turners). But when I try the draft or free agents, for example, the page turners return.

Same PC I used for last version, and very long lists worked fine with the scroll bar on that one.

Thanks.

Sorry guys, but I'm told that this is an impossibility.

What's an impossibility? Getting it so we don't have page selectors at all?

That's why stariotypes exist, because they are more often than not true.
