Draft Utility for 2007!

My draft utility for online leagues is ready for 2007! The draft utility supports draft lists, autodrafting, and traded draft picks (see the screenshot for a glimpse of it).

Also, new in 2007 is the (much awaited) administration tab, so you don't have to edit the picks in a text editor anymore. Now you can trade picks, modify existing picks, and manually pick or auto-pick for a GM right from the UI.

Getch,

Can this utility be used for GM's to make picks? Or is it only for draft lists, and keeping the draft lists organized?

LOL, maybe I should have stated the basic functionality before I went into the frills. Yes, GM's make their picks. In the screenshots, the first three picks have been made (Dan Franks, Charles Johnson and Gary Bray), and the Moguls have the current pick.

Log in as any GM (passwords are all 'baseball'). The Commish is the commish (duh), and has access to the new Admin screen. Make a few picks, whatnot, and get a feel for it.

Also, I assume this would support a draft as large as an inagural draft as well?

I'd have to tweak it some for an inaugural draft, one to look for all players and not rookies, and also to allow for actual ratings instead of just potential. Not sure how fast it would be, so I'd probably have to add something to not display all players at once, as well as limit to a particular position. So, some work to support that, but most of the work is already done. Let me know if this is something you (or anyone) needs.

Download the util from ootpmodsquad (PadresFan, you'll need to reupload to your site). It now supports inaugural draft, as well as a few other features. The only issue with the inaugural draft is that the auto-pick is still geared against potential only, so it's not ideal for inaugurual drafts. I'd try to avoid using it if possible.

The link above is also now set up with a better test case (16 teams, inaugural draft, all teams human manager). Let me know how the util works.

Looking forward to using this. Just 1 question. Where does it pull the ratings from? We use scouts in my league so want to make sure we're not giving people too much information on the draft. Any way to just leave the ratings out?

Yeah, it is intended for scouting turned off (no way I could use scouting numbers, as they are not exported to the csv dump).

However, it takes an arbitary rating scale as a parameter, so conceivably you could set it to be a 1-1 or 1-2 scale, which should mean they would have to rely on their scouts for any useful information. May make it hard to find players and pick them though, so you may need to just do 2-8 or something similar... play around with it and see what works. Let me know and I can maybe add something in to help out.

Are you familiar with the old BOSI draft utility? If you are, could you give us an idea of what ways it's different from it as in what it adds, what it lacks?

It looks like it's the same general idea in that each GM in an online league logs in, makes their draft list and then the program automatically processes the draft until it gets to a team that hasn't made a draft list yet and then it waits until they do or the commish logs in and makes an auto-pick if their clock runs out. Does it add anything to that like automatically sending out emails of what player you ended up getting or emails notifying you that you're on the clock or emails to the commish of everything?
