Fictional Roster Help

I'm making a 24 team fictional roster. Doing my own jersey's, logos and caps. Making my own ballparks, too. It's going to serve as a "semi-pro" league and all of the teams are based in decent sized U.S. cities that have no sports team at all. That includes no NBA, NFL, NHL or MLB. They may have a AAA team or something but nothing at the pro level.

I'm also creating a Canadian and Mexican league but that will come later. I plan on haviong the three run as sort of an "umbrella" league. They share and swap talent but they also compete with one another for a bigger slice of the North American pie. I plan to do this by having the league with the best "attendance figures" and all of that (plus, some at random) expand into the other leagues territory and try a take over. I just plan to have some good ol' fashioned fun with it once I have it all done. It's quite the undertaking.

I was looking for help with some of the players. I plan to have some retired MLB players in my league. Sort of like how Rickey Henderson and Jose Canseco played semi-pro ball after they retired. Currently, I've gotten Ron Gant, Jose Canseco, Mark McGwire and Will Clark into the mix. That pretty much takes care of the super old club. Now I'm looking for some younger retired MLB'ers and all I've really been able to find is Rico Brogna. I want retired MLB'ers that showed flashes of brilliance while they played in the MLB but then flamed out and were basically "flash in the pan" players. A few really good seasons and then poof, gone. I'd like them to be under 35, too. So that they might hang around for a few seasons. The younger the better. My league is taking place in 2007.

Also, if you have any creative fictional names I'd love to hear them. There's some names the game created for some players which totally blow and I plan to replace them.

Any help is much appreciated! I may release the whole roster after I'm finished but I'm making no such claims or promises right now. Can you blame me, after the way APujols5 and co. were treated for not fulfilling on their promise or whatever?

So, you'll have to play the release by ear.
