Google map mashup for teams/players

Totally a work in progress, but just seeing how interested people might be in the code for this.

TTBL Players on GoogleMaps

It's run off a mysql DB (I don't know Perl enough, so can't truly integrate it with Getch's tools...), the maps starts off showing all teams in the league, at all levels, and where they're located. Click on a team marker, and for now just get the logo and a link. Click the link and you get a map of the players on that team.

Incredibly useful? No. Kinda neat? Yeah.

That is really cool stuff. Like you said, maybe not so useful, but definitely fun to look at.

Count me in as someone who'd be plenty interested in this. It's little touches like this that bring a league to life, especially fictional leagues. The owners in my league would love something like this. Very well done, kleric! I'll look forward to the release of your code.

For some reason, it shows Antietam off the coast of Nigeria.

That happens when there's no lat/long stored in the OOTP database. I still need to write a script to go fix all the 0,0 lat/longs in the ootp sql output.

I made a request to add Sharpsburg, MD to the cities.txt file for you and your league.

Sharpsburg,691,206,Maryland,39.42,-77.74

Bug 1228 has been added to the database.

I love this! I play about 80% with historical leagues but my 20% belongs to an old 3 1/2 versions back, converted fictional league that I can't ever throw away. A screen shot of a little map like this would be a very nice touch to my old faithful.
