Creating a dynasty league settings mid-1980

Need to know the most known Pull-hitters the last 20-25 years.

OOTP doesn´t create that very correctly I think, so anybody have players that´s known to be extreme pullhitters. PLEASE name them.

I know it´s a mountain of editing as a commsih every year with new players pop up that had a history of being pullhitters.
Almost like setting the pitch selection correct.
However when the pitch selection isn´t that important the pull hitting might be very much important.

So any suggestions ????

Also, what are the normal %'s for each type of hitter?

Like for pull, normal, and spray.

Guess I only wanted players like Barry Bonds and many more historcially by treated on the field as they had in real life.

I think this could make a difference in comparison to what pitches pitchers really threw.

Guess we have no stats indicating if a player pulled or not and to what procentage.
Just plain know how ....

Thats what I was aiming for. Making a little editing over the history like getting Wakefield, Hough and other knuckies raeally throwing knucklers.

To be even more precise perhaps one should mess with control and movement on Wakefield, at least speed. He is 90+ in my dynasty ;-)

David Ortiz often gets a drastic pull shift when he comes to the plate. You will see the short stop playing behind 2nd base or even on the 1st base side of 2nd.

Slugging first basemen and outfielders are frequently pull hitters. I certainly think that way of Boog Powell, Greg Luzinski, and Frank Howard.

So if one plays the 2008 roster in quick Start it should be OK to edit several of these guys to be pull hitters.

It kind of have a nice ring to it, to see Big Papi and other typicval pull hitters getting played the way they should.

Any more bidders on HUGE pull-hitters in the game today or old timers ????

Thome and to a lesser extent A.J. usually have the shift on against them for the White Sox

If you know how to use the Retrosheet event files you'll be able to figure out a reasonable percentage of pulled balls for most players going back to the 50s.

Would like to have some ideas of hitters in the 80´s and 90´s that doesn´t play anymore..

Mostly lefties. I saw A´s played Torii Hunter on shift to hit the other day. Can one sonider Torri a pull-hitter ?

Seems to be that many of the game's pull hitters are guys who hit a good number of homeruns (as measured by their era) but had generally less-than-average batting average. That doesn't stand up for every batter, but it is true of many of the strong pull hitters.

Guys like Tom Brunansky and Greg Vaughn stand out as examples.

What you could do is look at mlb.com and pick a year. Look at the HR leaders and then the guys with BA around .250 or whatever. Better than even chance many of them are pull hitters.

i think a massive shift is a pretty new concept.. i dont think this was used in the 60's to 70's maybe a handful of batters in the 80's and 90's but i do not think this was a popular idea in the past

The first guy I remember seeing get the mega shift was Glenn Davis back in the late 80's.

I watched Torii play a lot when he was with the Twins and I wouldnt call him a pull hitter. In fact he was usually at his best when he was hitting the opposite field.

At this stage in his career I would consider AROD a pull hitter. Travis Hafner is a pull hitter. Gary Shefield, Marcus Thames, Casey Blake, Aubrey Huff, Aramis Ramiriez, Alfonso Soriano, Carlos Delgado, Pat Burrell, Joe Crede, Frank Thomas would be a few others. Spray hitters would include Derek Jeter, Ichiro, Luis Castillo.
