Foreign player creation

Question about foreigners...

I'd like to create a single league with teams from countries all over Europe. If I base the league in England and then add 19 more teams all from different countries and then set the Foreigner Percentage to from "30" to "0" will I still get players being created from the other countries with teams in the league? My guess is I'll just get English players for all the teams regardless of where they are from.

Basically I don't want to see players from any countries other than those participating in the league. Is this possible with one league?

Also...

I tried creating separate leagues and setting the Foreigner percentage to 0 for all but I'm still getting players appearing from random places all over the world. The three league were based in Germany, France, and Spain but I'm seeing players from places like South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico. Any thoughts?

This is taken directly from my European League Dynasty thread -
  • The 'League Nation' for the EBL is Germany. I think this is arbitrary given the following settings. I set it to Germany because they had two teams in my league and there is a well known stereotype that the Germans are excellent organisers.
  • It is important to assign the nations for each individual team. So under the 'Names & Affiliations' tab on the League Setup, make sure the little flag corresponds with the team.
  • Under the 'Rules' tab set 'Foreign Players Limit' to anything other than 'No Limit' and the 'Base Limit On' to 'Team Nationality'. You can also set the 'Foreign Pitcher Limit' and 'Foreign Hitter Limit'. I have set my foreign player limit to 10. It can be anything from 0 to 10. The pitcher limit and hitter limit don't work how you might think they do. If you set both to 10, then the teams will be allowed 20 foreign players (10 pitchers PLUS 10 hitters). I have mine set to 7 pitchers and 10 hitters, meaning my teams have to have 8 national players on their active roster. I haven't set any limits on my minor leagues, as I'm not sure it would work and even if it did, it probably wouldn't be fair to the EBL teams from nations that don't have a minor league, e.g. Russia, Sweden.
  • Under 'Options' set the foreigner percentage to 0. I think it's probably a good idea to do this for all minor leagues as well.
  • Under 'Global Setup - Player & Picture Options', untick 'Create and maintain hidden players' as if you don't the game creates foreign free agents outside the nationalities of the teams.
Depending on where you base your league you might have to fiddle with the names.txt and nationalities.txt to get accurate(ish) names. For example, I had to create a Hungarian name set as the default for Hungarians is to have Finnish names.
