World of Baseball 10 BETA
BETA IS UP:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/drijgv April 25, 2009 Already had to make a few quick changes, and uploaded Version 1.1 ANOTHER NOTE: I just realized the amount of players DFA and on waivers...I'm going to try and take care of this problem and simulate, and see how things work. As far as I know, this has always been a problem with custom rosters. I'll upload another version if I find something that works. Here we go, a project I have been working on for the latter part of six months. World of Baseball 10 is one ambitious project, and it's still not complete. Here it is: 1.) This version is built off of CubbyFan's rosters, version 4.0. I completely give him credit for the MLB rosters/ratings/coaches/stadiums...this would have never happened without his work. 2.) This universe will include up-to-date (NOT Opening Day) organizational rosters for the MLB. What I mean by this is that the 40-man, not even the 25-man rosters will be accurate...but all players should at least be a part of their respective organizations. The reason for this that it's just too tedious and difficult to look at daily Active and Expanded rosters, and mirror them, when the games AI will just change them anyway. 3.) This will include NPB, KBO, and CPBL rosters. I did the ratings myself, and are by no means perfect. A big part of this BETA release will be to hear feedback, and makes changes for ratings. 4.) Also included are independent league rosters. This includes the American Association, Frontier League, Atlantic League, Can-Am Association, Northern League, and Golden Baseball League. Besides former major leaguers and former major league organizational players, these ratings are completely random! These will certainly need to be changed in the future. It's hard to come up with equivalents for independent leagues, and is something I'm not familiar with. 5.) All Japanese players will have correct service time...I'm thinking the KBO and CPBL will be something for a future release. Information (at least that I could understand) is minimal. 6.) This comes with NCAA D1 and D2 and NAIA feeder leagues...and I've added about 60-70 of Baseball America's Top COLLEGE prospects. This is also a work in progress. More players will be added later, when closer to the Draft and perhaps the release of OOTP 10. 7.) This comes with photos for the NPB, KBO, CPBL, and a vast majority of the independent players. I literally spent hours searching for photos...however, for the Asian leagues, a lot of the player pics are weird sizes! Something to fix in the future. MB Pelican is currently working on resizing the independent league players photos. That will be released later. 8.) All stadiums are updated throughout the universe...including NCAA D1...I'm still debating on updating the NCAA D2, NAIA for the BETA release, for information on these schools is a little more difficult to find. 9.) Lastly, I created two feeder leagues for the Independent Leagues, the Arizona Winter League, and the New York State League. In real-life, these function as development leagues and tools for the independents to pick up players. In-game, these simply feed the independent leagues via draft. 10.) The independent leagues are put in one massive league, the Independent Professional Baseball Association, made up of the respective 6 indie leagues, but serving as divisions, with 3 divisions per league. Hope this makes sense. 11.) This will also include all MLB Asian prospects...there were quite a few missing from the set, and I tried to find pictures for all of them. It will also include NPB, KBO, CPBL, and random Asian free agents! I have literally been working on this project for the past 6+ months. Just ask my wife. This current rendition of the project has evolved many, many times over the course of 6 or so months, and is very different (and much more stable) then initially planned. It's very hard to keep wanting to do it at times, and I felt it was at the appropriate time to at least share it with the community. It's not finished, but my goal was to have the community come together a little bit, and rough out the edges, and hopefully, it could be finished (no longer BETA) in conjunction with the release of OOTP 10. This is meant to be one powerful add-on for a first-time user as soon as they load up version 10. It took me getting my Appendix taken out to get some real time to work on this, and now that it's pretty close, I would like to share it with you. I eventually plan on building off of this in the future, and creating a WOB 10 Asia...which would include the Japanese Industrial, independent, high school, and college leagues, along with Korean and Taiwanese amateur leagues as well. This is much later in the future. I plan on uploading it sometime late Friday (April 24th) night. Please respond with whatever questions, comments, remarks you have. Thanks. Credits include: CubbyFan for his awesome blue print to work off, MB Pelicans for his logos and help, RazorBack for his logos and template, and I'm sure many more. Last edited by Dr. P.R. First of all, thanks for all the time and effort you've put into this project! I'm sure it will be enormously appreciated by the OOTP community, especially myself.
Second of all... ![]() I just spent the last few days working on a complete NCAA D1 & D2 template! (Okay, a few days pales in comparison to 6+ months, but... still ) Anyway, I'm not sure how similar mine will end up being to yours. (Mine is a template--not a full league--and is based on US states and Canadian provinces as nations.) My ultimate goal is to see a complete and definitive world template that people can use to create leagues and build rosters into. Regardless, perhaps we can collaborate at some point.

Muzamba,
That's good news. I'm always interested in seeing others college templates. A main reason this project took 6+ months of work is because the game is built in an unusual way. There are way too many factors that come into play when combining templates with templates and templates with pre-existing games and etc. Usually, more often then not, when combining these elements, the game crashes. This is because of differences in computer systems, versions of the game, and whatever else gets in the way. While creating this universe, I literally had to open up the text files, and manually insert information for hundreds of players, and import them in-game, and then rearrange the imported information. The game is presently not very user-friendly in these aspects. At one point during development, I had planned on having NCAA D1-D4, and NAIA, and even Juco...however, this proves to be too much, and creates way superior draft classes. Even my present set-up creates a superior draft class, which will cause problems in the future. With that said, I look forward to your work! |

http://www.sendspace.com/file/drijgv Version BETA 1.1 April 25, 2009 I don't know exactly what the cap is for downloads, so I guess we'll find out. Please download this, and know this is still presently a work in progress. Please post corrections in relation to anything, especially players in the wrong place, or players that should not be retired. Things to do: 1.) Add Japanese coaches 2.) Add independent league photo pack 3.) Eventually re-size pictures that are not 90x135 4.) Finish team colors 5.) Add stadium data for NCAA D2 and NAIA 6.) Re-rates on NPB,KBO,CPBL, and independent players 7.) Eventually add jerseys and caps for MLB and NPB, and hopefully others Please, post any suggestions, comments, constructive criticism. Lastly, just unzip and put the .lg file in your OOTP Saved Games directory Last edited by Dr. P.R. Park III; 04-25-2009 at 10:32 AM. |

Looks very good, Dr Park, love it. What percentage of the feeder leagues are real players?
In using this for an online league, would like to use the KBO and CPBL as a 3 division of 4 teams league as part of the Pan Asian Greater League, with NPB as the other wing. Possibly keep the feeder leagues if mostly real players and not use the indy leagues as too cumbersome. So, owners for MLB,NPB, KBO and CPBL so, 54 owners needed. Would love to have as many Asian owners as possible for Asian teams. Question is, how to merge the KBO and CPBL portions and if deleting the indy leagues, how to keep the FA's to a minimum? Are all in indy real players? Great work on this set. Thank you very much

Kagnew,
That's going to require a lot of work, and in my personal experience, will probably be troublesome. I cannot guarantee it will work without crashing, know that much. To do it, simply just remember the leagues and divisions you want to rearrange, and edit the league structures accordingly. If you delete the independent league, ALL of those players will become free agents, and that will require you to individually delete them from the free agent pool. Good luck. Every player in the independent league is a real person, and I did my best to keep the number of fictional players in the FA pool to a minimum. Lastly, there are only about 60-70 real prospects in the feeder leagues, the rest are fictional. So not even 1% of the college players are real. Last edited by Dr. P.R. How about Injured List up to date?
How about all Independent Leagues as separte Leagues? How about Mexican,Cuban and so on Leagues to? Doesn't Chinese,Tiawan and so on Leagues also have Minor Leagues? If you take control of all MLB Minor League Teams that won't happen. Iv'e seen Matt Lindstrom March 4,Gardner and Owens March 3 of the Marlins go on the 60 day DL in Spring Training at least they have Iwase who was signed as a Free-Agent and so on in the Bullpen. March 10 both John Bale of the Blue Jays and Nate McLouth have Career Ending Injures. You might try and take off like Travis Hafner off Waviers so he doesn't get Claimed.

*update*
Wanted to post an update on Version 1.2...I'm currently working on updating NPB salaries and payrolls, and adding coaches for NPB and NPB Ni-Gun teams. Also, I will update each teams transactions to reflect the date the updated version is released. Lastly, look out for the independent players photo pack very soon.
Also, I ran some tests yesterday, the game worked perfectly...took about 25 minutes to do a one year sim. A few things I noticed: 1.) A realistic number of college players signed on with the independent league teams...these players were undrafted by MLB organizations. Very good to see. 2.) A realistic number of former MLB farm hands signed on with independent teams. I'd like to see a few more, but I'm happy with the results thus far. 3.) Too many Japanese players are going from the NPB Ni-Gun to the MLB minor leagues...don't really know a solution to this problem. They are only being offered minor league contracts. Too many North American minor league free agents are going from MLB minor leagues to NPB. I wish foreigner restrictions applied to secondary or reserve rosters. 4.) A realistic number of former independent league players are making the transition into organized ball. I found 3-4 former indie league players on MLB AAA ball clubs. This is very cool. I'll see if any make the MLB roster in the new few years. I highly encourage anyone who downloads the BETA, to make sure they are playing with 9.2.13 of the game. The BETA was created using this, and it will probably help avoid any ugly crashes. I also would like to hear more feedback...and constructive criticism. Lastly, can anyone please help in re-rating KBO, CPBL, or independent league players? |

I just wanted to make a few comments. One, Takashi Saito should not be an 80 rating as even going into this season everyone knew he was at most a 7th inning pitcher (fringe closer on other teams). Also, I noticed that a few random players such as Justin A. Edwards are rated through the roof (Independent League player that I could barely find any information on) and Joba Chamberlain is also rated through the roof for a young player who has proven nothing yet. 5 NCAA pitchers are on there as throwing 100+mph and I don't think these guys don't even exist. Some players rating just really looked peculiar.
EDIT: Just read MLB= Cubbys and Independent ratings are random. Just wondering, but does that mean each person should just go back and individually change each IND players ratings manually? Last edited by POKeefe; 05-07-2009 at 08:27 PM. |

POKeefe,
Yeah, Takashi Saito certainly shouldn't be 80...probably between 50-60 overall. But yes, the vast majority (about 98%) of the independent players are mearly random, meaning the rosters were initially filled with fictional players, and I just went through and filled in real information for each player (name, position, birthday, birth location, sometimes jersey). This is definitely a bummer, but there are literally hundreds of players, and not enough information/patience/time to assess each one properly. As for the collegiate players, that is mearly a result of the broken feeder leagues currently in-game, and the draft classes are WAY too good. hihot, I'll PM you and we'll get in touch. Thanks for your interest. |

Wanted to post a little update on the project. In a fit of madness, I have decided to add the Mexican League, Hoofdklasse, Italian Baseball (A1), and Bundesliga rosters to the universe. These will definitely serve a more cosmetic role, and will perform just like the independent leagues. Also, very good news is that No Pepper and Davwms are working on uniforms for the leagues, and hopefully soon I can get some news on the independent league photo pack.

Would it be too much to ask for a smaller version?. With all the extra leagues, discarding some leads to way too many FA's from those discarded with no way to delete just them.
Just the MLB, NPB, KOB, and Chinese leagues would be great for me.

No, it's not too much to ask, so I'll let you delete whatever leagues you desire
. If smaller is what you want, you're probably better off just sticking with the BETA, because the next release will have the other leagues.
