StatsLab SQL Utilities
StatsLab SQL Utilities for OOTP9
Download - Patch #1 - Patch #2 I'd like to introduce you all to a new set of online league utilities created for use with the OOTP SQL database export. Inspired by Getch's online league utilities and a new job in which I had to do a lot with MySQL and PHP, I decided to write these several months ago, and with any project I take on, it grew a bit larger than originally anticipated. Finally after a lot of programming and testing, I think they're ready to be shared with the OOTP community. All the standard features from Getch's utils are there along with some new features. Feature List: - Export Tracker - All-Star Voting - End-of-Season Awards Voting including Batter of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year, and Gold Gloves - Development Tracker - Draft Utility including team draft lists, draft scheduler/timer, auto-drafting - Organizational Ratings Report - Last Sim Utility including Spring Training Standings, Box Scores, Stats, Top Performances, Playoff Odds - Career Metrics Utility including Win Shares, OPS+, ERA+, Black Ink, Gray Ink, HOF Standards, Similarity Scores, Leaderboards (career, seasonal, and progressive) - Support for multiple league universes (via duplicate installs pointing to same DB) - Comprehensive ReadMe file included with installation instructions Your league website will need MySQL and PHP, both of which you are likely to have if you've got a league forum. I need to send out some props to the two online leagues who've already been using these utilities for the past month or so as beta testers. The PEBA and FBL have gone through a bunch of growing pains with the utils and have been very patient during the process. Commishes John and Jason have also proposed some excellent enhancements that are now part of the utilities for your enjoyment. It's become incredibly clear to me that both John and Jason are incredibly dedicated to their leagues and you'd be hard pressed to find a better commish, so if you're looking for an online league, check them out for openings. Here's a link to their leagues and utilities installs: PEBA: 2 major leagues in the PEBA universe: Planetary Extreme Baseball Alliance, League of the Rising Sun - Commish: Corsairs FBL: Federal Baseball League - Commish: jdettbarn While there's been a lot of testing, I'm sure there are probably a few bugs that have made it through. If so, the best way to get them addressed is to post here and/or send me a PM on these forums. What about OOTPX? I'll need to incorporate the new pitching model and a couple of issues with the SQL dump need to get addressed before these utils will work properly.

I've had the pleasure of testing StatsLab SQL as it was in development. Let me tell you: No online league should be without this utility suite. The array of tools and options it puts at your fingertips is staggering. fhomess has worked very hard fine tuning things to perfection. The result is an incredibly stable, incredibly feature-packed and incredibly useful utility suite that's going to make any league more enjoyable. My hat is off to fhomess for the incredible work he's done here, and also to Getch, whose original work StatsLab SQL is the spiritual descendant from.
fhomess linked to the PEBA and the LRS installations of StatsLab in his post, and I invite you to stop by and check them out. If you're like me, you'll have particular fun perusing the new Career Metrics module, which provides all kinds of data about your teams and players that isn't easily available within OOTP (or in some cases, not available at all). Have a look at the new and improved Managers info page as well. Pretty spiffy, eh? Logged in owners will be able to see additional contact info; everything from email to IM to a link to your Facebook page. Of course StatsLab allows you to hide this info from non-registered viewers, an option our league employs for privacy reasons. I'll leave off with a little plug: If, after examining our installation of StatsLab, you decide you'd like a closer look at it in action, please stop by our thread in the Online Leagues forum. The PEBA is on the hunt for a good owner and would love to hear from you. We're OOTP 9-based for the moment, though we'll likely be converting to OOTP X this fall. No need to wait, though: Get involved with us today!

i saw the demo sites, very awesome! i definitely want to use this!
i did come into a problem this upon installing... after i entered in my settings, it redirected me to the login.php page, but it came up blank. i'm assuming that there is a chmod issue of some kind. maybe you've got a better idea of where my problem was?

I've made a couple of minor fixes. If you've installed this already, you should be able to just re-download and install over the current files with no issues.

Just installed and configured this. Everything seems to be working fine, with one exception: the date shows up as Dec. 31, 1969 on all pages. All player ages are calculated using that current date and everything. I've tried doing Load SQL Files from two computers now, and it's the same problem from both.
I just downloaded and installed this this morning, so I'm pretty sure I have the latest release. Can anyone give me any ideas what might be wrong? |

FYI for others, Kelric's league is out in 2057, which goes beyond the php date functions' limits, so they default back to the zero date of Dec 31, 1969. I'll be working on a fix which I'll release in the near future.

Completely curious, how does the tool work for the FBL then, since they're pre-1970? Shouldn't this same bug be affecting them? Regardless, do you have any idea when you might have a new release? Otherwise, I was going to attempt to hack a fix together myself, but then I'd have issues with updating with your future releases. Thanks for the great tool! |

In the requirements you mention that shell access is needed, but it's not mentioned anywhere else in the readme document. Is shell needed and if so for what? I don't have shell access to my website, so I don't want to start trying to install this unless I know I can get it to work.

Still hoping to get some help with this. If anyone is familiar enough with the initial setup that they think they can figure out which setttings I have wrong, please PM me. I've attempted to PM fhomess, but he hasn't replied. I'm sure he's busy with other people who also need help.

I played around with installing it but it seems to be missing a file called config.txt. When fhomess comes back I'm hoping he can clarify the correct permissions on the sqldump folder. I set it to 777 during my test and it still was unable to create the config.txt file.

Looks like I'm making progress. There were 2 text files, including the one mentioned above, that I had to create manually, then set the proper permissions for. Once I did that it seems to be working. I'll know for sure once I upload the sql files.

Ok well I got it "installed", but still have problems. I can't get any of the modules turned on. Every time I check them in the admin screen and hit save, they stay unchecked and they don't turn on. Plus I sometimes get a blank white page with a php error. Not sure what to do now...
