In-game manual for Mac users

I followed instructions in these forums on how to get the manual to load from within the game. I've copied the manual file (with the complete, proper name) into the OOTP Baseball 2007 folder, and subsequently to several other sub-folders that seemed logical, with no success.

Is it just not possible to open the manual in-game on a Mac? (I can open it outside of the game with Mac's preview program.) I'm wondering if the game searches for Adobe Acrobat in order to open the file from within the game. (I've had all kinds of crazy thoughts.)
