Rookie draft in stats-only leagues?

I've noticed that some people like to play without ratings and use only stats to judge talent. This sounds interesting but I am puzzled as to how the rookie draft works in this case. Are college/high school feeders necessary for this set-up? Are there any other adjustments necessary to pull off a stats-only setup?

Thanks

Even without feeders, it's very possible to run a successful draft. Two options:

-temporarily make ratings visible on draft day- very quick to do from Game Setup;

-even if you keep ratings invisible, you can still rank any column you like. If you "display" potential ratings for all batters in your draft class, say, you can then click on the Power Potential column, and the draftees will be sorted from highest Power Potential to lowest. You won't know how much Power Potential each player has, but you will know who has the most. I played a league where I had invisible ratings (except speed and fielding), and only acquired the fastest batters and the highest-velocity pitchers, which I wrote a bit about here:

Testing a few limits

I kept playing that league for several years, and just drafted the fastest guys in the draft, and the highest velocity pitchers. The drafts actually turned out surprisingly well, even though I was ignoring ratings like Contact, Power, Stuff or Control.
