Newbie can't get first game started.
I'm sure that I'm just being stupid, but my first attempt at playing a game has failed so far.
I'm following the abbreviated "Jump right in!' instructions in the manual (ootpb8_manual.pdf), I get to the Historical League Creation Wizard, then click 'Start Game', I get a 'saving database' window, the a popup that says, "You have received a personal message!". I see no choice except to read and/or delete the messages, "Job offer from Once I've finished with the messages window, I don't see a way to actually start the game. Could someone please give me a pointer? Thanks! |

reviewboy, if you are still out there, try the tutorial videos found here:

Got game started; question about pricing
Hi 1998 Yankees -
Thanks very much for the reply! I looked at the tutorials, but they didn't seem to help me. I was having difficulty getting a ballgame started, you know, where a pitcher throws a ball to the plate with a batter standing there (as opposed to starting a 'game' of building a team or league). I spent quite a while with the videos and manual before I finally figured it out, although eventually I did. It is not as easy as one might think. May I ask a follow-up question? Can I truly buy the game and all past (historical) seasons for only $20? Is there a catch? That is dramatically less expensive than some of the other baseball sim companies. Thanks! Quote:
