Two fairly minor but long standing problems
In response to Battists' request for bugs here are two. Both of these are in the Mac version and were reported long ago.
The Almanac menu tab doesn't work right. You can create an almanac using the menu tab, but after it's created there is no option on the menu to open the almanac. You have to into the hard drive files and double click the index file in the almanac folder to open the almanac. The program still crashes occasionally, usually moving from Dec 31 to Jan 1 when updating player pictures. The only way to get back into the game is to go in and delete the faces.dat file. This means, of course, starting over with new pictures for all players. It used to happen about every year, but is now more intermittent. Thanks. |

I see the list of almanacs, but when I click on one, nothing happens. The almanacs are in the news folder of my saved game folder. The menu option to Create Almanac works, but the ones to open individual almanacs doesn't.
Thanks for the quick response. |

Well, they open up in an external browser. There must be some sort of setting that prevents that from happening on your computer. Can you look around a bit and let us know?

If I go into an Almanac folder and double click the index.html file the almanac opens and works. It's just that I can't get to it from the menu. I reported this problem in 2007 and it was logged as TT 3842.

I see an old TT 2294 that is now BZ 107 that seems to be the same thing.
Presumably other Mac users can access Almanacs, but I don't know from first hand experience. Maybe not? We'd need someone else to speak up. It's working fine on the PC.

Since it looks like there will be no further responses on the almanac problem, what about the facegen crash problem. It happened again yesterday. Moving from Feb to March while the game was updating the faces, the program crashed and wouldn't restart. I went in and deleted the faces.dat file and everything worked OK. Of course, I must start over with all new faces and lost the 4 months of game time I had played since my last save.
I'm pretty much at the point of saying why bother reporting problems since they never seem to get addressed, especially if they are Mac related. Then again, maybe they are all unique to my computer. |

The FaceGen issues are known to happen to other users than just you, but no, they haven't been able to work out a fix to my knowledge. Apologies for the inconvenience.
