Player Becomes Free Agent, Not Showing Up in Pool

Hi guys:

I tried searching for this but didn't find anything.

A player in my online league became a free agent, but he isn't showing up in the free agent pool.

If you search for him, you can find him, but he is playing for No Team and you can't offer him a contract.

Does anyone have a work around for getting him in the pool (short of recreating him entirely)?

Thanks,

Bret

Did he retire? How old is he?

Do you have any filters set on your free agents list?

No filters, no retirement and he is only 25.

For what it's worth, I am using a fully patched OOTP9.

Here is a screenshot that shows he was supposed to become a free agent:

Thanks,

Bret

Are you playing as an MLB team? If you are playing in another league, are you allowed to sign MLB's free agents?

Did you set any foreigner limitations upon your league?

We are all MLB teams, yes. We don't have any other other foreign leagues.

Yes, you don't have foreign leagues, but did you set any limitations on the number of players that can be signed who aren't born in the USA?

Missing free Agents

I have experienced the same problems in a league that has had no previous problems in ten years of historical play. Several free agents do not show up on the free agent lists- they can be located as "Unaffiliated" on player search but in some cases players who were making as much as $60,000-$75,000 per are suddenly willing to sign a 1 year contract for as little as $15,000. No filters or restrictions are in place and this problem never came up in 9 previous sessions of Free Agency. Any ideas out there as to how to remedy this? I have tried to restore the game via a backup file to the end of post-season and replay the free agent declaration period- but the same results occur.

Where would that setting be?

I honestly can't imagine we did, but I don't even know where we would alter that.

Game -> Game Setup -> League Setup -> Rules -> Foreign Players Limit

It is set to "unlimited."

Again, the player in question is not a foreign player, not sure if that matters or not.

My only guess is that the player plans to retire and just hasn't done so yet. I may have once or twice seen that happen.

Either that or somehow someone's export got messed up and led the player to end up in limbo.

I just don't see a 25-year-old who was going to be a Type A free agent retiring...

Anyhow, I am just going to re-create him, can't think of any other way.

Thanks,

Bret

Another off-season and this is happening even more frequently. All American players (so the foreign player issue thing shouldn't matter), all players in the prime of their careers (so I doubt they are planning on retiring or anything like that).

Ryan Braun and Billy Butler (two guys who just finished in the top three in MVP voting) plus three other American players have become free agents, but don't show up in the free agent pool.

If you search for them, it says they are with "No Team," but you cannot offer them contracts.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Any assistance is appreciated.

I hate having to go through the process of recreating these guys every time it happens.

I am having this same problem. I started a solo fictional league. After simulating about twenty years for history, I became the manager of a team. When the free agent period came around, none of the new free agents appeared in the free agent screen. I know they were available because they appeared in the free agency news feed, were shown as available on their player profiles, and even were eventually signed by other teams. But I couldnt see what players were available. I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled, started another game. It worked just fine for awhile. Then years down the line, I realized it was doing it again. I tried reinstalling again, but now I cant get it to work at all.
