How close is this to becoming official? I'd like to be able to finalize my plans for that weekend.

Thanks!

I'll be in Colorado with around 100 or so of my high school friends that week, or I'd be there. Y'all have fun.

Could you please copy this text and send it to your leagues, Thank you.-CC

Press Release
OOTP DEVELOPMENTS ANNOUNCES FIRST ANNUAL OOTP CONVENTION
June 4-6 Toledo, OH

(Toledo, OH)—Out of the Park Developments, creators of the OOTP and ITP baseball simulation software, has announced plans for the first annual Out of the Park Baseball Convention. The event will be held June 4-6, 2004 at the Radisson Hotel in Toledo, Ohio.

The convention will feature forums with the creators of the Out of the Park and Inside the Park games along with members of the software development team. Convention activities will include forums for commissioners and members of internet OOTP leagues, sports memorabilia and an open panel discussion including current and former major and minor league players. All attendees will receive tickets to attend a minor league game between the Toledo Mud Hens and Pawtucket Red Sox on Saturday June 5th.

There will be many opportunities for internet league enthusiasts to share ideas on running leagues and for newcomers to the game to learn from experts.

In addition to the forums and activities for convention attendees, activities have been scheduled for spouses during the convention meeting times to allow them to experience the city of Toledo while relaxing and sympathizing with other baseball simulation spouses.

Registration for the convention is $60.00 through April 1, 2004 and $75.00 until the opening day of the convention. Registration for spouses not attending all convention activities will be $25.

Registrations are being taken online at http://www.mhootpa.com/OOTPconvention.htm Payment can be made via Pay-Pal or by mailing in the form with a money order or cashier’s check. No personal checks will be accepted for convention registration.

The convention will be hosted by the Commissioner Corey Cowell and the members of the Mud Hens Out of the Park league (www.mhootpa.com) which includes staff members of the Toledo Mud Hens.

The Convention is Official

Maybe some of us Chicagoland guys could carpool it. AA? BCB? Statfreak? Any of you think you might be able to go?

EDIT: I see statfreak is considering going with his family. My wife may not mind if I go, but she'd look at me like I had 3 heads if I asked her if she wanted to go as well.
I'm trying to get clearance from "the tower." We're trying to work something out. Like possibly I go to the convention and she goes with her Dad and the baby to visit her Grandma in Kentucky. Or, the three of us go to Toledo and then we drive to Kentucky. Or, we just say "**** it" and fly to Hawaii, bring a laptop and just join you guys virtually, in the forum, from the beaches of Maui.

Reality check - we never discussed Hawaii, but a guy can dream, right?

Today, I mentioned the convention to my wife. To my amazement, she said, "Sure, let's do it. When is it?"

When I told her the date she reminded me that our son is graduating from HS on June 5. D'oh!

I'm thoroughly bummed, but I cannot make it this year. But I'm already pencilling it in for next year.

Damn! I thought we'd hook up there. Looks like we'll need to get together before that now.

I'm considering it, depending upon who is going to attend.

If there are just a bunch of people I don't know, I may decide not to go. But if several members of the AAIC are planning on going then I can't help but go.

If LL, Rizon, DD and sttfrk go, there is a greater chance that I will.

I'm 99% sure I'm going if you or anyone else from the Chicago area wants/needs a ride in.

Great, thanks! It would be a helluva trip. We're trying to decide what we want to do, yet.

I'll let you know, in time.

Nah, she said since we're cancelling she's going to go visit some long lost relatives in the Toledo area that weekend. Funny I've never heard of them before...
