I've scrapped the Yankees dynasty. If anyone cares, i'm going to...

I'll be doing a historical one, with me as the GM/ manager. I'll hope to include a better in-depth feel to the team and the processes. Any sugguestions on what year I should make it? I'd be open to anything.

I've decided to use the 1975 Boston Red Sox. I'll use the manager mode, just so it's more in-depth. The manager will have great hitting knowledge, and his ability will be the clubhouse chemistry. I chose the Red Sox, because of the infamous season they had with Fisk, and the Big Red Machine. I'll try and build the Red Sox through the draft, as I have the real draftees on and not assigned to the original teams. I'm hoping I strike gold in the draft.
Also, to make the team more mine I will simulate the 1975 season and pick up in 1976, that way I get a draft under my belt. I will post the results once the draft has taken place.

Carbo was a clear surprise for me. Draft- Wise I'm thinking SP. Our offense hasnt been too terrible. Our pitching can improve however. Free-Agency should really improve the team. However, Boston has not offered me an extension yet! I may not even be around for another season.

Boston Finished 5th in the division, and the Pittsburgh Pirates took home the World Series, after defeating the California Angels 4-1. Draft prep, is coming up

Boston Re-Signs young manager

The Boston Red Sox have Re-Signed manager "Boss" for a 1 year, 396k deal. Boss is very optimistic about being signed with Boston for another term.

Here's an E-Mail from Boss to Boston Team owner Very Niceguy.

To-:Very_Niceguy@Bostonredsox.com
From: Boss@Bostonredsox.com
CC: none
Subject: Contract Extension

Dear Mr. Niceguy,
I would like to thank you for re-signing me. I realize the team did not reach your post-season expectations, but everyone here in the front office is optimistic for our future. We are heavily preparing for the draft, and trying to get our coaches locked up. Sir, I have to apologize however since the rest of us have decided to let Yaz go. He's 36 years old an in the prime of his career, in our opinions. He only hit .250 this season, and he's making over 7 million dollars. A player shouldnt ever be getting paid 7 million dollars, it's just too much. That's crazy money anyway. Our other noteable 1-year guys have arbitration so that'll take care of them for now. I'm trying to finalize the coaches deals, so we can have the best staff under budget. Draft preparation right now, is totally important. Thanks again sir,
Boss. Signed January 1st, 1976. PS Sir, happy new year!

Free Agency

From: Boss@Bostonredsox.com

Subject: Free Agency
1/31/76

Dear Sir, here is the people I have my eye on: Carlton Fisk (Catcher), Bobby Grich ( Second Base), Reggie Smith ( Third Base eligable) , Donnie Baylor ( Right Field, young power hitter), Ron Reed ( Starting Pitcher, eats up innings like crazy!), Mike Garman ( Reliever, gets the job done), Gene Garber ( Closer, not the best out there but he's cheaper than the high priced guys). I have made offers to all of these players, I await their responses.

RE: Free Agency

Dear sir, the following players disapprove of our offers- Reggie Smith, Ron Reed, Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, and Gene Garber. I have upped the offers on all of them.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/2/76

Sir, The following players dissaprove of our offers- Ron Reed, Reggie Smith, Bobby Grich, Don Baylor, Carlton Fisk, and Mike Garman. I offered back to everyone except Fisk. We simply cannot afford him right now. He will be missed.

2/3/76

Mr. Niceguy,
The following players have disapproved of our contract offers, and seek more cash: Ron Reed, Bobby Grich, and Mike Garman. Because of financial restraints, the team decided to cut it's ties with pitcher Rick Wise, we got a good 3 star prospect for him Rick was making too much money to just loaf around.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/4/76

Sir, Gene Garber has accepted our contract offer and we have the press conference scheduled in a half hour. However, the same old crew disapproves of our offers: Reed, Reggie Smith, and Bob Grich. This is getting really hecktic, sir. Reed wont be ****** happy with anything.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/5/76

Sir, I decided to pull the plug on Reggie Jefferson, 15 million is just too much for a player like him. Instead I decided to focus on Don Baylor. Reed didnt like our offer again, but i sent in another one. Garman wasnt plesant either, he got another offer. I also noticed Luis Tiant was still a Free Agent, and offered him something.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/6/76

Sir, Bobby Girch has signed on with the team, and will be our 2B. He's real high quality stuff, and I expect him to do great things in Boston. We're real close on Reed..I can feel it.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/7/76

Sir, Don Baylor and Mike Garman arent pleased. I have improved Baylor's offer. Reed liked his deal
__________________________________________________ ____
2/11/76

I've revoked Luis Tiant's offer. He just wants way too much for an old man. Donnie Baylor agreed to a 3yr 15m deal. Reed still likes our offer.
__________________________________________________ ________
2/20/76
WE GOT REED! It took the largest contract in MLB history, but we did it. 25m/ 5 years. I think our future is worth it. If not, we can deal him off.
That's all we have for Free Agents Sir. The next E-mail i'll send you is from the draft war room!

Sir, we've made our Round 2 Selection. We decided to go ahead and draft Mike Overy. Overy's a relief pitcher from Stetson. Here's his line-

We think he'll have nasty stuff, along side a good choice of pitches. We'll have to work on his control, though. I'm going to let the Assistant GM take care of the rest of the draft, I will not be reporting it back to you.
Sincerely, Boss.
