Best hitter was Gil Hodges with 5HR, 10RBI and a .257 BA
Best Pitcher was Jay Hook who finished 2-0 with a 4.30 ERA, although Al Jackson may have had the toughest luck as he went 0-2 with a 2.32 ERA in 31IP.

Hodges who had the first homer in Mets history and Hook who had the first win.

Wow that is interesting, I knew about Hodges, but not the Hook part. Cool coincidence

Glad to see the 57 Yanks take out the Royals, but that has me concerned they didn't dominate at all. Took 18 games to win the series. Possible 2nd round exit could be up next.

It could be. They are pitted against the 1930 Yankees who actually had a worse regular season, but who dominated their round #1 matchup. It should be an interesting matchup between two different Yankees eras. Teams have a way of changing performance wise from round to round in a tourney format like this, so I am far from writing off the '57 Yanks. Mickey did very little in Round #1, so that is a spot they could improve on and look a heck of a lot better in Round #2.
