You procrastinate almost as much as I do

Oh sure, tease me by saying my beloved Pirates made the list, and then leave me to wonder where. Cruel. Very cruel.

I'm thinking I should start a new dynasty so I have a shot at the Top 10 next year.

What was the criteria for being eligible for the competition besides what you mentioned in your initial thread? I noticed mine didn't make your list of 50 for consideration for the Top 10 and wondered what I need to do differently.

Anyone is up for consideration. Basically, in my initial thread, all I did was compile every thread that had about 1,000 views and a view : post ratio of 10:1. That was just to give an idea of what the popular threads were this year. Just because it wasn't listed didn't mean that no one could vote for it.

All-Time All Star League begins operation (Author: Eugene Church; 5 ballots; highest vote: 1st)

There was nothing real flashy about this, but it is Eugene's first real attempt at a dynasty with a league that he set up all on his own and his passion for the league and it's players really stands out with every post. He gets really into it, controls every team and just absolutely loves what he is doing. Every player is his favorite and he really lets it all lay out there. How excited he got when dbacks gave him a place to put everything he ever dreamed he could is just priceless. This is way we play the game, folks. If you ever forgot why we play OOTP, read Eugene's thread and you will remember why.

He is only in August of his inaugural season (started in November of last year), but who cares. My hat is off to you Eugene. Keep up the great work.

And who said he could get an avatar? That just threw me for a loop!

Good write-up, Vris. I'm actually disappointed Eugene didn't rank higher, for precisely the reasons you mentioned. As classy a guy as we have on the boards who does an exceptional job.

Tim Moungey and the Octopus League (Author: Jestor; 7 ballots; highest vote: 3rd)

OOTP meets John Keats. Or something. Jestor tries to do what so many others have tried, in making his OOTP world bigger than life. And I think he succeeds. The Octopus League was something new and fresh on these boards. A whole new voice. Instead of "here is my lineup, watch me trade these losers for Albert Poo Holes! Ha! Poo Holes!", Jestor actually made his prose almost like poetry. He uses beautiful words and elegant descriptions in detailing the trials and tribulations of one, Tim Moungey. Tim is a troubled individual. The young leader of a small Racine squad in a minute 8 team league, he has his share of problems in the inaugural (and only, sadly) season of the Octopus League.

I really enjoyed the way this was written. It was definitely a change of pace. Kudos to Jestor for bringing some civility to this forum (insert ironical laughter here).

he does have a talent for prose that is unmatched on this board. Has to be an english major

The funny part is that on his league he's probably ranked #4 or #5 in most posts for storylines. Figure that out

Thanks, guys.

I knew it'd be a long shot for my even making the Top 10 list as it's been a dead dynasty since late summer and I know a lot of the newer people on the board weren't familiar with it.

So I'm ecstatic to be #8 and have been quietly working on something for OOTPBM2K6... as well as toying with an idea for something OOTP 6 related.

Oh, and bump

You Pick the Teams! (Author: woody5254; 6 ballots; highest vote: 1st)

We all know woody. If we all nerds, then woody is the kid that the nerds can call a nerd and get away with. He's put together some huge projects over the years. One of my favorites was his historical normalized dynasty which put every player in the context that they were playing during present day times. Fantastic read.

This is similar to his Colossal Tourney, where he took the greatest teams ever and matched them up in a NCAA-style tournament, winner take all. Sadly, the Colossal Tourney doesn't make this countdown. woody then opened it up for everyone, to pick their favorite teams from all time (minus the WS winners) and have them face off in a similar bracket. It took tons of planning, lots of detailing, and an enormous amount of stat tracking, and it's going on as scheduled, currently in it's second iteration (thank you crash!). It has a huge following though. Many board members through their favorite teams in to see how they stack up. It's a crazy tournament, let me tell you. woody groups and seeds them by record and has the two teams duel in a best of 20 format. 11 wins nets you a chance to move on.

Thanks woody. Your ideas get bigger and bigger.

Thanks for the votes guys, I am honored just to be a part of the top 10. And just so you know I don't wear a pocket protector while simming out the tourneys, but my glasses do have tape in the middle

I'm seriously going to finish this.

But I also see that the interest has pretty much died off.

Don't take this wrong, but I think the interest seems to wane because there aren't updates. I think if you were posting them a bit more frequently you would see more response.

I kinda feel the same way about my thread Vris. But I think it's just a case of keeping things updated and starting discussions.

Also, don't try to compare it to last years. It's a whole different beast and the forum was a different place back in the old days .
