You should appreciate this one, GForce. Seth got in a scuffle over the way some of the posters around these parts would handle problems and arguments (or discussions, like I like to call them). He got into a heated argument abuot the way the OT posters are treated as gods compard to other posters, and said some nasty things about the moderation here. He got extremely pissed off one day and just left. I really don't know the details other than that. He's been back occassionally (and to send me a PM), but doesn't update his thread. He used to at FOFCentral, but I don't think he does that anymore either (I hardly go there). It's really too bad.

I'll save you some trouble. Go here to read Prologue. He's edited the original post, so it kinda steals from his muster, but he still explains a lot in the first few posts.

That's a shame. Lord knows I've had my issues here, but if I can stick around and post and contribute, I'd surely like to think Seth could do so as well. He probably didn't get into (or, more precisely, take part in) as much junk as I did. It's never good to lose a contributor of value to the community. I hope he returns sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the info.

I'm stopping here for good reason: We have reached the pinnacle of the Top 10. The list up to this point is a couple posts back. So just relax everone, for it's almost over.

By now, I bet you all have a good idea as to who has tied for the Best Dynasty of 2005. If you take a look at 2005, it should be pretty easy to pull out. They are both well-written, deserving dynasties.

Plus, I just posted like 6 or 7 posts in a row. Gotta be a modern day record for me. So I'll let everyone sit and comment on that. But I will be back.

It looks like this went from a Top 10 to a Top 1(2). Stupid American numbering system.

I'll come right out and say that Prologue was my vote for #1. I don't think there's been anything on the boards quite like it since I started visiting the Dynasty forum, and I don't think there'll be anything quite like it. He had the style of the era down so well that nearly every post read like baseball's equivalent of poetry. I know Seth was reluctant to hear praise heaped upon him, but the loss of this thread and its continuation rank are a great misfortune. Great work, a good guy, and a tremendous supporter of the Dynasty forum. I miss Seth a great deal.

This is the only dynasty in which it was the only vote on a ballot.

I don't know how many times Pete tried to keep this going, but I think the crash ended up killing it for good. Up until then (and woody came along), it was probably the most popular sign-up dynasty the boards have ever seen. The followers were like cannibals, jumping over each other trying to get a piece of the action.

How it worked was Pete allowed one member to create a fictional character for every season and throw them into the fire with the big boys. I'm not quite sure how far he got in the end (last I remember he was into to the 40s with the problem of WWII, and the crash knocked out almost 15 years).

This was a great thread for people like Pete who have OCD and need some sort of baseball. He did a great job with this thread and keeping every involved. It's too bad the crash did what it did because Pete would've finished it. I guarentee that.
Damn crash, my guy was really gonna be something. Clive Woodstock was an absolute monster with the stick. I miss this thread, Pete did such a wonderful job with it. Very deserving of the ranking for sure.

From the man who gave us Time Warp Baseball (like that doesn't get enough exposure...), and that super cool dynasty where he did everything in real time (This one), Matt From TN opens up his brain for this doozy. He imports everyone from Lahman, or so I think, and everyone stays with the same team that they originally played for. Forever. There is no trading or free agency, and no injuries so we really get to see a player's full career. This one is still going strong, despite TWB's best efforts to kill it off by forcing Matt to sim everyday of the year. Matt does a great job laying out the happenings. It's kind of a stat dump, but if he really gets going into a more recognizable part of baseball history (not that the deadball era sucks or anything, but most people can't associate with it..myself included), then it should really take off. I know a lot of people are interested to see how certain teams do, if they had certain players forever, or if free agency didn't exist like it does today.

Another great thread idea from a guy who has a million of them!
My favorite thread to see a new post in. I love seeing how this plays out each year. I love the concept and Matt does a wonderful job of letting you know just how the league is going. The incoming rookies posts with the pictures and writeups are wonderful. Keep it up, Matt!!

Holy flashback, batman! And I thought no one ever read that thing, let alone remembered it. I really enjoyed the concept but I think it died when I started up TWB.

Thanks for including Set in Stone Vris and thanks to everyone who voted for it. I wish I could do more writing for it but TWB takes up about all the free time I have for that. I'm really glad people are enjoying this. We're getting into some great parts of history now with Ruth, Jackson, Hornsby, Cobb, etc. And there's a lot of great players to be excited about soon like Foxx & Gehrig. And the free agency era should be a hoot, because who even remembers where most of those players began their careers

A great list and I'm honored to be so high. I really didn't expect it.

You all might know BigSix as the guy who gave us Pat O'Farrell...probably the best known single-player dynasty on the OOTP Boards (until 2005) (and not the whole boards..that distinction belongs to David Driscoll).
I hope by "until 2005," you didn't mean to suggest that Pat's story was done, because Pat's no longer an active player. He has two sons, and let's just say they're displaying some baseball talent.

To have Pat mentioned in the same paragraph with the David Driscoll dynasty is an incredible compliment.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see the KL on the Top Ten list! I was having a great time with it before "the crash," and nearly bagged it as a result. I was glad to see that some interest in it remained.

What I'm trying to do is make the league appealing to readers who will want to see how the fortunes of the teams and their players will turn out. It's not fancy, and it's a real change from my usual first-person format. It's been a lot of fun, though, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who's enjoyed it.

The positive feedback you've given me makes me eager to keep the KL rolling on.

Thanks for an unexpected honor!

I've really enjoyed the Keystone League because it doesn't try to be too much. It's a nice overview of a league, a few players, and some interesting details. Readers (including myself) have adopted teams as "their own", and Big Six is terrific at making sure those teams get a little extra attention. Even if you've never read Keystone League before, it's really easy to get into. You don't even need to have read all the way through, as Big Six has a nice, easy style that draws you in no matter where you pick up the action.

Didn't mean anything like that at all. I just mean a dynasty has kind of surpassed it as the most read single-person dynasty. We will get to that later.

Wow.....didn't expect that. Thanks to all who voted I certainly would have finished it. I had guys signed up through 2005, so the league probably would have gone until 2025 at least.

Losing it hurt almost as much as losing The Game Divided (which hurt more because not one page of that dynasty remained after the crash ).

I may attempt a similar dynasty to 20CBC again, but probably not until OOTP:BM comes out. Since the crash, I've found it difficult to maintain a dynasty on a nearly daily basis as I did with this one. Ted's Frozen Head has lasted the longest, but I have had some very lengthy lulls in it. Maybe I'll latch onto a new concept soon.

That's what I figured. I have a good idea which one it is, too. And that's cool. The more good dynasties there are here, the better for all of us. I know I'm always motivated to put more time and energy into making my dynasties more interesting...for myself and for the forum...when I read a really well-done dynasty someone else has created.

Thanks a lot, spuds. I began it as a way to "relax" from Pat O'Farrell and try something new. I get in moods where it's the only one of the leagues and dynasties I'm involved in that I really feel like spending time with, just because it is laid back and "relaxed."

Thanks again for your kind comments. They're very much appreciated!

Pat's story set a very high bar for single-player dynasties. Your style and storytelling have been exceptional and, with Tib's Short Hop, are a hell of a benchmark.

Coming from the writer who brings Austin James to life, that's quiet a compliment; thanks very much. I still enjoy my trips into Pat's world very much, and I'm glad others do as well.

We are a dozen posts since a mention of seth70's "Prologue" (whatever happened to being a lazy bum and not updating the thread, Vris? ) but I thought I might also reveal myself as another who voted that one #1. It really did read like poetry, as has already been said. I have never really read anything like it that wasn't published for the masses, and I deeply miss seeing those updates every few days.
