Top 10 Dynasties of 2005 - Results
Sorry about the delay folks. I doubt I'll have everything up before the New Year, but I hope to have them all up before the end of next week (I suck at time tables).
9 (tie) All-Forum Dynasty (Author: Elendil; 7 ballots; highest vote: 2nd) Elendil went to try something new. With the influx of dynasties where you can sign up and watch your progression, he took it to a whole new level: sign up your childhood! His All-Forum Dynasty allowed board members to sign up an entire team to play against other board member's team! With a complicated system of point allocation, you could sign up your high school baseball team! There were no superstars and a couple people even ran their hometown teams (right into the ground that is!). A great idea that didn't really get a lot of support (from me either..) once it got going. Glad Elendil got in there, because he deserved it. Half the guys who signed up never posted in it and that was unfortunate, because he really did a nice job with it. Regrettably, it appears to have died since the crash, but it was fun (including the Wantagh Wallbangers championship
).GH |

It was an awesome concept; unfortunately after I got banned, I couldn't get interested in my team again after coming back.

As one of the guys who was very active in it, the death of this dynasty hit me nearly as hard as the loss of my two big ones. I contemplated quitting the boards because of that stupid ass crash.

Yeah, the crash was really dispiriting. This dynasty was a lot of work for everyone involved, so I appreciate everyone who participated. It was fun while it lasted. I've been thinking about somehow running 15 or 20 seasons of the league to see who became Hall of Fame-quality players. The trouble would be somehow getting the game to generate rookies for those years who are as bad as the current players!

I enjoyed it too. I really looked forward to continuing those players' careers and building a nice history for Cooperstown. Good work Elendil.

The Outpost League (Author: ifspuds; 7 ballots; highest vote: 2nd) Jeff went and tried something new. A fictional league with a bit of a twist. This takes place in a far away land of the Outposts. It is very different than his Pirates thread (which we will get to later) in the case that he is encompassing an entire league. He goes into a team by team recap, discussing the location, parks, and ultimately the make up of each team. His map is fantastic, as are his logos (which unfortunately didn't survive the crash). He uses various news services (mostly newspapers) to convey the ongoings of the league. Unfortunately, I think the crash kind of killed his interest in this project. Jeff does a great job in explaining what is happening in the league, and it is a good copy of its two predecessors in this genre (Time Warp and Prologue). It shows you what can happen if you run with your imagination. Last edited by Vris : 02-03-2006 at 10:39 PM. |

Pirates thread get to later? Looks like you've placed two entries, ifspuds.
Congratulations!

Thanks, Jestor.
![]() It's not so much that the crash killed my interest in the league, it's that I haven't taken the time to get a backlog of posts for during the times I'm too busy to sit down and write. And now, seeing what I'll be able to do with OOTPBM 2006, I'm very tempted to just start it all again, since there were a great deal of league details that I wanted to run with that v6 just couldn't handle. It'll be back, without question. And thanks to the people who voted for it! 2nd place?! I'm stunned and honored, considering the competition.
