My pleasure. I hope you got a chance to check out some of these. There defanitely were some good ones this year.

San Fran boggles my mind. Love the city, but can't explain the weather.

Great work, Y0da.
Glad that I had some affect on someone. As I have always said, I'm just trying to get people to look around and see what's out there. I do that for myself too. There is no way that I would check all these things out if I didn't force myself to. But in the end, I am glad I do it.

5...4...3...2...

7 months later, this thing finally comes to an end. It's been a good ride, but its time to get off (for this year).

2005 was a weird year. We had this amazing period where all the dynasties were top notch. Then there was the GC05, and its something that we are still recovering from. Although, to be honest, this isn't a bad time to be in the dynasty forum. Check out all the good stuff! There is so much good reading out there. You should take some time to explore for yourself.

To the writers, this thread is for you. I hope you got some recognition, some fire to write, or just some much needed readership. Without you, there would be no "Top 75" thread. Without you, there would be no dynasty forum.

There are so many great new dynasties out there, that I can't even begin to name them. There are also some really great oldies out there that are still being updated. As I said before, explore and Rock on!

To all you readers out there. Thanks a lot for the comments! All 44 of you who posted a thought/idea/whatever gave me the motivation to finish this thing. It was a little later than I had planned (mostly because I have a life and a job now), but it got done and I look forward to a trimmer and fitter version of this countdown next year. I can't have it be the colossus (in size only) that it was this year. Look for that in late December/early January.

So here's the last of the popcorn of the year, and we are off to #1!

Enjoy the , leave your , and get ready to , as "The Top 75 dynasties of 2005" counts down to its conclusion. Right... NOW!

#1 – “Yet Another OOTP6 Dynasty, Year 2: One Flew Over the Pale Hose

Started by: cknox0723

Where it began, I can't begin to know when
But then I know it's growing strong
Oh, wasn't the spring, whooo
And spring became the summer
Who'd believe you'd come along

Hands, touching hands, reaching out
Touching me, touching you
Oh, sweet Pale Hose
Good times never seem so good
I've been inclined to believe it never would

For the second year in a row, Craig’s dynasty tops the countdown, and to be honest, no one else was even close. More replies, more views, more varied posters, the plight of our beloved Pale Hose has been fun to follow.

But something happened in between last year and this. Somehow, inexplicably, they got good! No more rooting for the loveable losers from the south side because the reclamation project is ahead of schedule. Much like Neil Diamonds song, “Who’d believe you’d come along?” This team was no good last year, and suddenly they are in first place? With a chance to make the playoffs? AFTER the All-Star Break? Who are these guys?

The Pale Hose. That’s who!

Craig came back with year two of the white stockings…. Speaking of which, I did a search of the ENTIRE thread for the term "White Sox.” One would think that a thread based on the Chicago White Sox, this term would leave me looking at a ton of posts.

But no.

23

23 posts in all 40+ pages of posts, only 23 references to the term “White Sox.” Here, I’ve broken it down for you:
Code:
Posts with "White Sox" in them:

Craig 15
Everyone Else 8

Breaking Down Craig’s Posts:

Radio Call 4
Newspaper 1
Standings 2
Peter Gammons 1
Just Excited 1 The White Sox weren't in last...
they made it all the way to... gasp... 4th!
Reply Post 6 He was "out of character", or replied to a post
where someone else had written the words "White Sox"
This boggles my mind. I love the fact that only once has he referred to them as the White Sox in an actual “post.” The rest of the time, it’s the “newspaper” or radio call, basically the media. And it’s forgivable as he’s trying to get the reader into it. And honestly, the media wouldn’t really refer to them as the Pale Hose as much as we would like them to.

I, however, did have a problem with this year’s version. Much like myself in this year’s version of the Top 75, I think Craig had a hard time “finding himself.” Yes, he could have done what he did last year, but as with everything, acts get old. He really hasn’t changed format much since last year, except that maybe the lengths of his posts are a little longer. But because this was a new thread, I think he felt that he needed to one up himself, or at least that’s how I saw it. “One Flew Over the Pale Hose” had a few growing pains, but settled into its groove. And now its flowing along just as it should be, finding its voice and rocking out!

Also, let me say that I can’t believe he can take a league so slowly. It’s been over a year, and he is still doing that same season. And if you happen to read it from the beginning, just a note that the thread starts in early February, but Craig doesn't start the season until early May (on page 16 or post #325).

And what a season that it has turned out to be! Go Pale Hose!

Congratulations to this year's champ, cknox0723.

Quite an honor to be picked first out of all the fine dynasties here on the forum.

Congratulations, Craig!

And you also, Yoda, for sticking through and seeing it to the end. I know it can't be easy doing this every year.

A big congratulations to Craig. Well-deserved, for sure. And not a big surprise, I might add.

And thanks once again to Yoda. Your hard work and dedication is very appreciated by those of us addicted to the dynasty forum.

Congrats Craig, you really deserve it, the Pale Hose is loved by everyone.

You did an amazing job with this once again Yoda. I'm happy that I made the top 30. I'm trying to come up with a new idea for a dynasty, so hopefully I'll be back on here next year.

I'm late, but thank you, to Y0DA and everyone else. I don't like to mention it, but it is a great source of pride to me, this internet message board dynasty, the wonderful reactions it elicits in myself and others.

Please, to all reading this, continue to read these dynasties if you enjoy them and always, always, always hit the reply button to share your thoughts, even if it's nothing more than "Keep up the good work!" Preferably you would read my dynasty, but there are a lot of good ones on here if you think the Pale Hose sucks. Many who post at the OOTP forum are missin' a great game here, and they don't even know it.

Thanks and I look forward to another list next year.

This dynasty (or the original version) very well could have influenced the worldlier version of the game that 2006 has brought. This one is a baseball league based exclusively in Europe. That basically is the hook. Only 3 years have finished in the 40 some odd pages, so it’s a long read. Much of it is banter (much like this thread sometimes), so it can be sort of annoying to sort through that.

I applaud how long this has kept going and how much work has been put into this (how can a lot of work not be put into something that is 40 pages long). However, there doesn’t seem to be any personal stories that many dynasties have come to embrace. It’s much more newspapery, so it may seem a bit dry at times.

Sdpm does an amazing job with this, and although I haven’t been an avid follower, I’ve got to give props where props are due. He also has a website if you want to jump right in without a whole lot of background.

awww I thought hed crack the top 10...good place either way.

I thought this deserved a bump, considering we're coming to the end of another year. Hopefully Mr. Top 75 will be back to tackle another year of dynasties!
