At this point, the Championship appears but a formality. The Athletics have 11 games left on their schedule, but only one with the Whites. As long as the Athletics win as many as they lose, they will claim the whip-pennant. The more interesting question: can Sutton become the first striker to claim 100 safe hits during season championship matches? He has five games in which to try.
