A third league forms

Union Association formed

For the already established National League and American Association, they will see competition from another league, the Union Association. They have placed teams in mostly major cities like Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Washington D.C.. The only small market city would be Altoona in Pennsylvania.

League Teams:
Altoona Mountain Citys
Baltimore Monumentals
Boston Reds
Chicago Browns
Cincinnati Outlaw Reds
Philadelphia Keystones
St. Louis Maroons
Washington Nationals

SHO: Daisy Davis (CHN) 3
K's: Ed Conley (PRO) 76

Injuries

PHI- P Hardie Henderson (strained elbow ligament, 3-4 weeks)

Even though Richmond shows up on the standings, they actually replaced Washington on August 2, so this was a minor screwup on my part by putting them in already.

Batting Leaders
BA: Guy Hecker (LOU) .394
Hits: Ed Whiting (BLO) 42

2B: Henry Larkin (PHA), Ed Whiting (BLO) 12

3B: Phil Reccius (LOU) 5

HR: Pete Browning (LOU) 2
RBI: Dan Brouthers (PHA) 30

The club from Altoona, even though they are off to a good start, are forced to fold because they don't have the necessary finances to keep fielding such a competitive club. They will be replaced by the Kansas City Cowboys who will begin play on June 7th.
