I don't know if he's going to be the closer or not, but who wants to set the line as to the number of blown saves he has if he's the closer? |

![]() Did you see my bullpen last season? Gagne can't be worse So far I plan to keep my Japanese closer, while Gagne should set him up.If he fails I still can release him as he is on a rather small contract. |

December 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 15th December 2008 Trades: The Braves sent 2B Yunel Escobar (.248, 4 HR, 17 RBI) to the Marlins for starter Sergio Mitre (11-3, 3.28 ERA) and minor league RF Greg Bullock (.296, 1 HR, 30 RBI - A). The Rockies sent starter Shane Lindsay (11-3, 3.24 ERA - AAA) to the Pirates for minor leaguers 3B Robinson Ramírez (.308, 9 HR, 74 RBI - A) and LF Pat Clark (.360, 1 HR, 9 RBI - A). The Rangers sent minor league starter Kasey Kiker (5-13, 4.39 ERA - AAA) to the Rockies for minor league 2B Mauro Gomez (.290, 5 HR, 35 RBI - A). The Blizzards traded minor league 1B Lars Anderson (.314, 14 HR, 58 RBI - AAA) to the Reds for minor league starter Jesse Hancock (6-2, 4.26 ERA - A). The Red Sox sent SS Julio Lugo (.287, 0 HR, 36 RBI) to the Tigers for reliever John Grabow (3-4-6, 2.94 ERA). We sent reliever Akinori Otsuka (3-4-1, 5.58 ERA), 2B Omar Infante (.256, 5 HR, 32 RBI), SS Alcides Escobar (.276, 0 Hr, 22 RBI, 24 SB), minor league catcher Lou Marson (.210, 1 HR, 8 RBI - AAA) and $2,000,000 cash to the Blue Jays for reliever Davis Romero (2-4-5, 5.01 ERA) and minor leaguers SS Mark Shields (.262, 0 HR, 4 RBI - R) and 1B Willie Hollis (.339, 1 HR, 10 RBI - R). Another risky trade to improove our bullpen. But I consider Romero as real upgrade, in case Christopher Armstrong is not ready for the big leagues. Giving Escobar up hurts, but he would be on the bench when Weeks returns. Most likely we will sign another free agent to fill the gap. |

December 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 22nd December 2008 The Mets signed SS Rafael Furcal (.273, 5 HR, 44 RBI) on a 3-year contract worth $9,600,000. The Blizzards signed starter C.C. Sabathia (13-14, 4.59 ERA) to a 3-year contract worth $46,300,000. We look forward to face such a famous pitcher in our division. The Indians replaced Sabathia quickly. They signed 30 year old Japanese star pitcher Kazumi Saito (12-13, 2.60 ERA) for a 4-year contract worth $64,640,000. The Mets continue to throw out money: 1B Travis "Pronk" Hafner (.268, 40 HR, 110 RBI) signed a 5-year $105,600,000 contract. |

December 2008 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 28th December 2008 While we have our pitching staff more or less in place for 2009, there are still some questionmarks open in the lineups. Right now we persue a veteran 3B with some power, which would mean we would move Reynolds to 2B until Weeks returns to the lineup. Besides we made a bit for a star 2B, but like Weeks he could only play 2B. The open back up jobs are up to grabs for AAA players. |

January 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 9th January 2009 Last seasons blockbuster trade was not in vain for the Diamondbacks. They resigned starter Ben Sheets (13-9, 4.05 ERA) for six years. Sheets will make $90,740,000 in this span. The Indians signed another starter today. John Patterson (10-17, 6.78 ERA) signed a four year contract worth $20,680,000. New nickname "Zito Light"? Closer Cla Meredith (5-5-34, 2.92 ERA) will stay in San Diego. He signed a 2-year contract worth $4,740,000. |

January 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 15th January 2009 Quite unexpected 2B Orlando Hudson (.268, 6 HR, 48 RBI) accepted our offer to become a Brewer. He will make $5,280,000 and another million for at least 450 plate appearances. As a first reaction we moved Ryan Mount back to AAA. Hudson will most likely bat 2nd behind Izturis. The big question is what to do when Weeks comes back. A lot will also depend on how well Gamel, Lowell and Reynolds will do at 3B. |

February 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 4th February 2009 The Braves signed Japanese star reliever Masahide Kobayashi (1-6-8, 3.06 ERA) on a 2-year worth $9,620,000. The Indians signed another Japanese star. Reliever Makoto Sato (1-1-3, 2.79 ERA) will call Cleveland his new home for the next three years. Salary: $11,970,000. Also Baltimore goes Nippon! The Orioles signed starter Shinobu Fukuhara (9-9, 2.33 ERA) on a four year contract worth $20,200,000. We claimed reliever Mark Lowe (3-3-2, 5.00 ERA) off waivers from the Rangers. He'll give us another backup at AAA in case Gagne fails as setup man. |
