May 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 18th May 2009 Its Inter League baseball against the Tigers in Detroit! The hosts are playing .500 ball in a very strong AL Central. Their star players are Joel Zumaya, Eulogio de la Cruz, Carlos Guillen, Jair Jurrjens and Randy Messenger. We are entering this series on a high note as we almost swept the Cardinals in the last four game series. Yovani Gallardo who almost got traded during offseason is leading the league in ERA (2.28) even if he walked 21 in 47.1 IP. Also Prince Fielder (.367, 7 HR, 36 RBI) is red hot. Injury Report: Milwaukee - 2B R. Weeks (1 week) Detroit - MR K. Sleeth (6-7 months) - 3B K. Kirkland (2 days) - LF C. Floyd (4-5 months) - CF C. Maybin (6-7 weeks) - 2B J. May 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 22nd May 2009 The Tigers had one of the worst lineups I saw in a long time and nevertheless , they took two out of three as we pitched just awful. Our Nr 5 spot in the rotation is a big questionmark as Aaron Cook seems not to be good enough for the big leagues anymore. Can Villanueva find his form? In our lineup Estrada (.205, 1 HR, 14 RBI) and Gross (.222, 3 HR 14 RBI) are struggling badly. As Estrada is also rather mediocre behind the plate he might not have a future at Miller Park. If Parras continues to play well, Gross might head elsewhere, too. The upcoming trip to the White Sox won't be easy. Despite the recent cold streak we took over the division lead from the Astros who played even worse in Inter League games. Injury Report: Milwaukee - 2B R. Weeks (2 days) Chicago - SP G. Gonzalez (2 weeks) - 3B P. Ozuna (5-6 weeks) - LF C. Hart (9-10 months) - RF J. Dye (3 days) Game #41 –Milwaukee [23-17] (B. Webb 5-2, 2.85 ERA) at Chicago (A) [25-15] (J. Vazquez 3-4, 4.48 ERA) SS C. Izturis - 2B O. Hudson - DH R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - CF J. Upton - 3B M. Lowell - LF S. Victorino - C J. Estrada - RF J. Parraz Milwaukee at Chicago: 9-8 W: B. Webb (6-2); L: J. Vazquez (3-5) H: J. Accardo (3) SV: S. Fujita (4) HR: J. Upton (5) / P. Konerko (11), C. Roberson (2) SB: - / C. Duffy (13), T. Iguchi (1), R. Sweeney (3) E: B. Webb (1) / M. Young (4) MoM: J. Upton - 1/5, 2 R, HR, 4 RBI Time: 3:45 Attendance: 40456 Elsewhere: The Padres lost CF Cedric Hunter (.360, 3 HR, 12 RBI) for at least three months after he damaged his achilles tendon. |

Manager and GM Fritsche 23rd May 2009 Game #42 –Milwaukee [24-17] (D. Bush 3-2, 4.26 ERA) at Chicago (A) [25-16] (J. Contreras 1-0, 3.21 ERA) SS C. Izturis - 2B O. Hudson - DH R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - CF J. Upton - 3B M. Lowell - LF S. Victorino - LF G. Gross - C H. Blanco Milwaukee at Chicago: 9-3 W: D. Bush (4-2); L: J. Contreras (1-1) HR: S. Victorino (3), M. Lowell (5) / - SB: C. Izturis (6) / C. Duffy (14) E: M. Wise (1) / - MoM: S. Victorino - 1/5, R, HR, 3 RBI Time: 4:23 (60 minutes rain delay) Attendance: 35324 CF Justin Upton (.281, 5 HR, 20 RBI) injured himself while collecting a triple. He is listed day-to-day. Roster move: We activate 2B Rickie Weeks from the DL after he missed almost a year. IF Mark Reynolds (.170, 3 HR, 5 RBI) is the man out. Hopefully he will find his swing again down in Nashville. Weeks is supposed to platoon at 2B with Orlando Hudson, who will also get some starts at SS. At the moment SS is occupied with Cesar Izturis, who rose his average to .343 after a cold start. If nobody gets injured we might trade away one of the infielders. |

May 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 25th May 2009 We went 3-3 in Inter League play. Now we head back home to host our old "friends" the Cubs. So far we lead the season series 4-2. At the moment they are just 4.0 games behind us. Our catcher are now batting (combined) below .200. Nestor Corredor is doing fine at Nashville, but not ready yet for the big leagues. Should we give up some prospects and trade for a veteran catcher who can hit? Injury Report: Milwaukee - CF J. Upton (2 days - DTD) Chicago - MR J. Crain (4 days) Game #44 – Chicago (N) [21-22] (M. We signed David Bush (4-2, 3.94 ERA) to a three year contract extension. He will make $15,190,000. Bush had a positive record during the last three seasons and pitched at least 200 innings in each. We expect him to continue being a solid Nr 2/3 starter who eats many innings. |

May 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers
Manager and GM Fritsche 29th May 2009 Nice sweep of the Cubs. In both extra inning victories we tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Especially painful for the Illinois team was our five run rally in game 3. Next up the Rockies who are on a three game winning streak and rumoured to be interested in Aaron Cook. May 2009 - Milwaukee Brewers Manager and GM Fritsche May 2009 - Review American League Standings
National League Standings
A very good month for us. But the Astros play very well this season and are virtually unbeatable at home (18-3). For the first time in ages the Yankees are a playoff contender. Milwaukee Brewers Batting Stats after May 2009
