Its Inter League baseball against the Tigers in Detroit! The hosts are playing .500 ball in a very strong AL Central. Their star players are Joel Zumaya, Eulogio de la Cruz, Carlos Guillen, Jair Jurrjens and Randy Messenger. We are entering this series on a high note as we almost swept the Cardinals in the last four game series. Yovani Gallardo who almost got traded during offseason is leading the league in ERA (2.28) even if he walked 21 in 47.1 IP. Also Prince Fielder (.367, 7 HR, 36 RBI) is red hot.

The Tigers had one of the worst lineups I saw in a long time and nevertheless , they took two out of three as we pitched just awful. Our Nr 5 spot in the rotation is a big questionmark as Aaron Cook seems not to be good enough for the big leagues anymore. Can Villanueva find his form? In our lineup Estrada (.205, 1 HR, 14 RBI) and Gross (.222, 3 HR 14 RBI) are struggling badly. As Estrada is also rather mediocre behind the plate he might not have a future at Miller Park. If Parras continues to play well, Gross might head elsewhere, too. The upcoming trip to the White Sox won't be easy. Despite the recent cold streak we took over the division lead from the Astros who played even worse in Inter League games.

Time: 4:23 (60 minutes rain delay)
Attendance: 35324

CF Justin Upton (.281, 5 HR, 20 RBI) injured himself while collecting a triple. He is listed day-to-day.

Roster move:

We activate 2B Rickie Weeks from the DL after he missed almost a year. IF Mark Reynolds (.170, 3 HR, 5 RBI) is the man out. Hopefully he will find his swing again down in Nashville. Weeks is supposed to platoon at 2B with Orlando Hudson, who will also get some starts at SS. At the moment SS is occupied with Cesar Izturis, who rose his average to .343 after a cold start. If nobody gets injured we might trade away one of the infielders.

We went 3-3 in Inter League play. Now we head back home to host our old "friends" the Cubs. So far we lead the season series 4-2. At the moment they are just 4.0 games behind us. Our catcher are now batting (combined) below .200. Nestor Corredor is doing fine at Nashville, but not ready yet for the big leagues. Should we give up some prospects and trade for a veteran catcher who can hit?

Nice sweep of the Cubs. In both extra inning victories we tied the game in the bottom of the ninth. Especially painful for the Illinois team was our five run rally in game 3. Next up the Rockies who are on a three game winning streak and rumoured to be interested in Aaron Cook.
