Also the Astros series didn't go well and we finished the recent road trip with a 3-4 record. Hopefully the next nine games which will be at Miller Park show some improovement.
We first play ball against the Pirates, who seem to be out of the playoffrace despite playing an ok season. During this series we have to make a difficult roster move as Yovanni Gallardo is eligable to come of the DL.

Injury Report:

Milwaukee

- SP Y. Gallardo (1 day)

Pittsburgh
- CF A. McCutchen (7 months)

Game # 119 – Pittsburgh [56-61] (S. Lindsay 10-9, 4.06 ERA) at Milwaukee [79-39] (D. Bush 12-6, 4.00 ERA)

SS C. Izturis - 3B M. Gamel - LF R. Braun - 1B P. Fielder - CF J. Upton - 2B O. Hudson - C J. Johjima - RF L. Cain

Pittsburgh at Milwaukee: 3-4

W: J. Accardo (5-2); L: D. Turnbow (4-7)
H: W. Starling (2) / J. Capellan (8)
BS: D. Turnbow (4)
SV: S. Fujita (21)
HR: J. Bay (33) / R. Braun (27)
SB: - / P. Fielder 2 (10), O. Hudson (16), J. Upton 2 (7)
CS: - / R. Braun (3)
E: - / L. Cain (1)
MoM: D. Bush - 7.0 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 8 K

Time: 3:09
Attendance: 41748

Elsewhere:

Buffalo
3B Eric Campbell (.298, 3 HR, 11 RBI) collected 5 hits in a 8-7 loss against the Braves.

The Reds SS Chris Valaika (.284, 14 HR, 53 RBI) went 5 from 6 in a 13-3 win over the Mets.

Yovanni Gallardo (9-7, 4.34 ERA) is activated from the DL and sent to AAA Nashville. We hope he will repair his recent control problems there, collecting two three starts before the roster expansion.

Thank you, how it goes with cycling? Stopped following this season's Tour de Dope ...

This dynasty became so addictive that I hardly touched OOTP 9 yet ...

Cycling is going well. I don't want to take your dynasty too far off-topic...but I actually think this year's Tour is the cleanest in a really long time. I know Ricco got busted (Beltran and the Colombian from Barloworld who's name escapes me as well), but at least the French and the sport in general are facing it head on. I honestly believe that 95% of the rider's are clean now and the sport is changing for the better. What team's like Garmin-Chipolte, CSC and Team Columbia are doing is going to be the norm fairly soon. The French know who are doping and they are going after specific rider's. Ricco has been a target since the Giro. As soon as I saw him ride in Stage 9 I knew something was up, he just exploded away from the world's best climber's. Anyways...I don't blame you for being sick of it all. Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I think progress is being made.

Yeah...dynasties are addictive.

Dontrelle "D-Train" Willis
(9-4, 3.60 ERA) seems to be back on track after two very bad seasons. Today he pitched a six hit shutout against the last placed Phillies.

Johnny Estrada (.400, 4 HR, 8 RBI) who splits time as catcher and at 1B is reportedly unhappy and wants to get traded. Anyway he found his swing again on the West Coast.

No problem ... Let's hope you are right and that maybe some other sports enforce stricter laws as well. Baseball among them ...
Will be interesting to see how many participants are removed from the Olympics even if I doubt that Chinese authorities are very strict with it.

Just played another game still being in bed Poor Pirates ...

You really should vote in my expansion thread:

20th August 2009 (Off Day)

Yankee
ironman Derek Jeter (.294, 5 HR, 31 RBI) will join the DL for two to three weeks with a bruised leg. Also this year the New Yorkers might not make the playoffs, as the division title is already out of reach. Would three seasons in a row without postseason.

RF Matthew Miller (.334, 9 HR, 40 RBI) collected five hits for the Rockies when they beat San Diego 3-2.

According to our scouts newly acquired reliever Jesús "Bandit" Díaz (1-0-0, 4.05 ERA) suffered a big talent hit after giving up a grand slam in the last game against the Pirates.

Despite taking two from three against the Pirates, it was not a very well played series. Especially Jason Bay's four homeruns were very painful. We always struggle against the guys from Steel town, so thankfully we won't face them in the playoffs.

In every move we make now, we have the upcoming off season expansion draft in mind. Which players should we put on the protected list? Which players can we afford to lose? Therefore we said no to an interesting trade proposal from the Cubs, which would have given us SS Ronny Cedeno (.302, 7 HR, 24 RBI) for 3B Mark Reynolds (.305, 21 HR, 61 RBI - AAA). But as our infield is very crowded already we said no to the second placed (11 games behind) Cubs.

Now we face the Giants who are dead last with a 51-71 record.

I considered trading for him and install him in RF. But I don't like his defense. So I rather go with Gross and Cain for the moment.

The Cubs Aramis Ramirez stands at 41 homers now.

In league history Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder (2007), Troy Glaus and Paul Konerko (2008) hit 50 or more homers.

No problem - was only mentioned at the year ends review in october.

I'm not sure which database, but I think Cubbies roster and Lahman?
Was at least quite accurate in terms of the real 2007 season in regards of big league and minor league rosters.

American League Player of the Week:
3B Alex Gordon (.292, 19 HR, 56 RBI - Kansas City) - .480, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 4 R

National League Player of the Week:
LF Cody Haerther (.281, 17 HR, 59 RBI - New York) - .577, 2 HR, 9 RBI

Our lower level rookie team, the Arizona League Brewers finished their season with a 25-31. That's two wins less than in 2008, but they ended up again in 7th place. Edmond Harris (77-91) will most likely keep his job anyway, as three of the AZL Brewers starting pitchers went down with long term injuries.

Top perfomers were:
SP Bill Wise (3-2, 2.40 ERA, 1.04 WHIP) - 11th round pick in 2008 (White Sox)
MR Phil Bullard (0-2, 2.63 ERA, 1.20 WHIP) - 16th round pick in 2008
CL Rodrigo Chávez (2-1-8, 1.69 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) - 10th round pick in 2008
1B Willie Hollis (.311, 0 HR, 21 RBI, 5 SB) - 18th round pick in 2008 (Blue Jays)
SS José Berrios (.286, 1 HR, 11 RBI) - signed 2009 as undrafted free agent
CF Jason Bennett (.298, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 1 SB) - signed 2009 as undrafted free agent

The Chula Vista Bonitos (Buffalo affiliate) will again face the Arizona League Angels for the league title playoffs.

The series against the Giants was very close and we won it only due to Prince Fielder's walk off homerun. Talking about Fielder; his RBI/Game ratio is back to 1 after it fell slightly below 1 for some days. He has now 124 RBI's in 124 games. In my eyes he's the best batter in the National League at the moment. Even if he won't hit 50 homers, his production is very good.

No 4 and 5 in the rotation give me some troubles at the moment, as Villanueva and Rosario are very inconsistent. Maybe we go to a 6-Man rotation in september to find out who should be No 4 starter in the playoffs. Another option might be Manny Parra (4-0-2, 1.77 ERA) who has finally recovered from his long term injury last season.

Next up are the Rockies before we travel to Chicago for a weekend series. I somehow like the Rockies and through a number of strange trades last season they are back at .500.
