RF Andy Frost (.429, 4 HR, 6 RBI - New York) - .311, 15 HR, 41 RBI

National League Player of the Week:
RF Jeremy Hermida (.500, 5 HR, 11 RBI - Florida) - .302, 39 HR, 127 RBI

Our magicnumber is down to two, but the Reds are giving the Mets an unexpected battle for the Wild Card. The West is quite weak with the Dodgers trying to defend a 3,5 game lead over Arizona. The American League might see some uncommon faces in the playoffs; the Nationals, Royals, Mariners and Angels being in the pole position now.
Rookie 2B Jose Santos (.357, 1 HR, 4 RBI) continues to impress and looks ready for a part-time role next season, when Weeks, Hudson and Freel are no longer with the club. There are also discussions to trade CF Justin Upton (.270, 14 HR, 50 RBI, 11 SB) and his $6,000,000 contract to free a spot for one of the outfield prospects. The only problem is that none of them is a fielder as close as good as Upton.
Game 1 against the Diamondbacks will be a nice duell between Webb and Sheets. That trade in 2008 was maybe a key to our success with Reynolds and Upton being with us still.

23rd September 2011

We clinched the division and the Diamondbacks gained ground on the Dodgers despite losing the series against us. Four teams with 2.5 games in the West. The Reds also gain ground on the Mets for the wild card, while the Royals should clinch their division within a couple of days. We play the Astros who battle the Phillies (!), Blizzards and Rays for next years 2nd overall pick. Nr 1 pick goes to ... Detroit!
