May 2012 - Winnipeg Bisons
Manager and GM Fritsche 2nd May 2012 Even if the Marlins were clearly superior we managed to gain a series split down there. Up next the Diamondbacks who have the worst rotation, but the best bullpen of the league. Their offense is average, but I look forward to see good old Rickie Weeks again. Injury Report: Winnipeg: n/a Florida: MR C. Robertson (2 days) SS S. Drew (6-7 months) CF C. Young (6 months) Game # 23 – Arizona [10-12] (C. Young 0-3, 6.98 ERA, 3 BB, 16 K, 1.66 WHIP) at Winnipeg [12-10] (R. Wells 2-1, 3.96 ERA, 14 BB, 21 K, 1.44 WHIP) Winnipeg: CF J. Reed (.207, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 4 SB) 2B S. Schoop (.283, 1 HR, 5 RBI) LF J. Rodriguez (.328, 4 HR, 10 RBI, 1 SB) RF J. Werth (.247, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 1 SB) 1B E. Duncan (.306, 5 HR, 8 RBI) SS J. Harrington (.190, 4 HR, 14 RBI) 3B C. Davis (.196, 4 HR, 14 RBI) C J. Bard (.159, 1 HR, 3 RBI) Arizona: 2B R. Weeks (.229, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 2 SB) SS R. Furcal (.283, 0 HR, 7 RBI, 3 SB) C M. Montero (.273, 3 HR, 9 RBI) RF C. Gonzalez (.266, 5 HR, 15 RBI, 1 SB) 1B J. D'Antona (.257, 6 HR, 12 RBI, 1 SB) 3B F. Sanchez (.293, 0 HR, 2 RBI, 2 SB) LF J. Slayden (.250, 2 HR, 6 RBI) CF F. Gutierrez (.143, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 1 SB) Arizona at Winnipeg: 5-6 W: M. Mehlich (2-0); L: R. Speier (0-1) BS: C. Armstrong (1) SV: S. Shelton (8) HR: C. Gonzalez (6) / E. Duncan (6) SB: J. D'Antona (2), R. Weeks (3) / J. Rodriguez (2) CS: R. Weeks (2) / - PoG: E. Duncan - 3/4, 2 R, HR, 1 RBI Time: 3:40 Attendance: 37053 A nice comeback win in which our closer as usually added some spice, but he's still 100 % in save opportunities. Elsewhere: Boston's Juan Cruz (2-0, 3.27 ERA) pitched a 4-hit shutout against Washington. |

May 2012 - Winnipeg Bisons
Manager and GM Fritsche 7th May 2012 After Mr. Harrington won the Diamondback series on his own, we face a nice flight over the Rocky Mountains to play the 17-9 Giants. They looked like as they improoved a lot compared to last year, and battle to achieve their first winning season since 2007. One reason for their early success might be that Barry Zito is not a regular starter anymore. Injury Report: Winnipeg: n/a San Francisco: n/a Game # 27 – Winnipeg [15-11] (B. Morris 2-3, 3.09 ERA, 7 BB, 31 K, 0.97 WHIP) at San Francisco [17-9] (J. Sanchez 1-1, 6.84 ERA, 16 BB, 25 K, 1.86 WHIP) Winnipeg: 2B B.J. May 2012 - Winnipeg Bisons
Manager and GM Fritsche 11th May 2012 Very nice series win against the Giants. Even if we are nowhere near the league leaders in any category as a team, we do very well as a 1st year franchise. Can we hold on? Up next a very emotional home series against our fellow Canadians from Toronto, who do surprisingly bad after their move from the AL Central. The 2012 version is still led by the likes of Adam Lind, B.J. Ryan and Vernon Wells. Injury Report: Winnipeg: 1B E. Duncan (3 weeks) Toronto: n/a Game # 21 – Toronto [12-18] (K. Uehara 2-2, 3.77 ERA, 4 BB, 8 K, 0.94 WHIP) at Winnipeg [18-12] (T. Gorzelanny 2-3, 4.64 ERA, 16 BB, 32 K, 1.29 WHIP) Winnipeg: CF Jeremy Reed (.210, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 4 SB) 2B Sharlon Schoop (.373, 1 HR, 9 RBI) LF John Rodriguez (.318, 5 HR, 14 RBI, 2 SB) SS Joe Harrington (.282, 8 HR, 232 RBI) 1B Kendry Morales (.241, 2 HR, 12 RBI 3B Chris Davis (.254, 1 HR, 11 RBI) RF Jayson Werth (.200, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 1 SB) C Josh Bard (.217, 3 HR, 7 RBI) Toronto: RF Paul McAnulty (.333, 10 HR, 24 RBI) 1B Jeff Larish (.202, 3 HR, 8 RBI) LF Adam Lind (.314, 9 HR, 25 RBI, 1 SB) CF Vernon Wells (.224, 4 HR, 19 RBI, 1 SB) 3B Jeff Baker (.287, 7 HR, 19 RBI, 3 SB) 2B Michael Hollimon (.223, 3 HR, 12 RBI, 4 SB) C Humberto Cota (.048, 0 HR, 1 RBI) SS Alexi Casilla (.296, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 6 SB) Toronto at Winnipeg: 6-7 (12) W: C. Armstrong (1-0); L: B. Kemp (1-1) BS: S. Casilla (2) HR: A. Lind (10), M. Hollimon (4) / J. Rodriguez (6), J. Bard (4), B. Upton (1) CS: - / J. Rodriguez (1), S. Schoop (1) E: - / S. Schoop (3) PoG: A. Lind - 4/5, 1 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB Time: 4:05 Attendance: 38972 The Blue Jays batted around in the 1st, but we somehow managed to tie the game. Anyway the victory came with two sour notes: Héctor Martinez (0-0, 1.93 ERA) is out for the season with a torn back muscle and 2B B.J. Upton (.235, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 4 SB) will miss up to nine weeks with a herniated disk in the back. Elsewhere: The Tigers pitcher Roman Colon (2-2, 3.91 ERA) pitched a 5-hit shutout against Cleveland. The Marlins 3B Yunel Escobar (.389, 0 HR, 2 RBI) is out for the season with a ruptured disc. Trade: The White Sox traded benched star C Shinnosuke Abe (.294, 1 HR, 10 RBI) and $3,000,000 in cash to the Yankees for minor league LF Melquisedec Mesa (.283, 4 HR, 16 RBI - AAA). I won't deny that we also had Abe on our shortlist.

May 2012 - Winnipeg Bisons
Manager and GM Fritsche 15th May 2012 The last two games against Toronto were lost unluckily, but the fans really like this Canadian matchup. We still rank in the lower part of most stats offensively and are about average in pitch, but somehow still win enough games to have the wildcard lead. Of course we won't be able to keep this hot streak, but we want to enjoy as much as possible. We now travel to New York, where the Mets had a very disappointing start to the season. Of course I have something open with them after they kicked me and the Brewers out of the playoffs last year. They still have a very potent lineup, while their pitching more or less sucks.
