CF Jeremy Reed - 3B Sharlon Schoop - LF John Rodriguez -

PoG: E. Encarnacion - 1/4, 1 R, HR, 3 RBI

Time: 3:23
Attendance: 36786

Nr 5 starter Stinson was under pressure to deliver today, and he did very well until giving up a nasty 3 run homer to Encarnacion. The Reds relievers did great until closer Feldman entered the arena, giving up a 2 run double to rookie Grant who collected his two first career RBI's. Our closer Shelton did his job and hold on for his 12th save. CF Jeremy Reed (.232, 3 HR, 9 RBI) damaged his knee menicus and will make a 2 week trip to the DL. Rookie OF Felipe Javier (.302, 6 HR, 21 RBI - AAA) will take his roster spot.

Elsewhere:

Vancouver
's Jeremy Powell (5-2, 3.95 ERA) pitched a 6-hit shutout against Texas today.

The Rays 3B Evan Longoria (.279, 15 HR, 36 RBI) had a 3 homerun game in 8-4 win over Boston.

Our ace Gorzelanny struggled again giving up a dozen hits. He has now the worst ERA of our starters.

After the game we sent C Rey Gonzalez (.137, 1 HR, 2 RBI) to AAA Regina. He will be replaced by rookie C Michael Yates (.302, 6 HR, 18 RBI - AAA).

I gave OOTP X another try, but once again it sucked badly. The AI released many proven starting pitchers and replaced them with low stamina relievers. Sad that they can't have a decent running game several months after it was published.

24th May 2012

The Reds series was just the 2nd of this season we lost. Nothing spectacular, but the division seems slowly to tighten with the Brewers almost back to .500. We still have the wild card lead, but I think we slowly begin to feel the injuries. And now we welcome the NL West leading Dodgers to town, who are among the top teams in almost all categories unless starting pitchers ERA.

Injury Report:

Winnipeg:
1B E. Duncan (6 days)
MR H. Martínez (8 months)
2B B. Upton (6-7 weeks)
CF J. Reed (12 days)

2B Josh Bell (.264, 2 HR, 12 RBI, 1 SB)
C Ramon Hernandez (.225, 6 HR, 17 RBI)

Los Angeles at Winnipeg: 11-8

Our five runs in the 1st, were not nearly enough to contain the 17 hit attack by the Dodgers.

28th May 2012

Our fans really got a great seried for their money against the Dodgers and somehow we were even able to split the four games. Due to the Cardinals cold streak we moved within one game of the division lead. Our team numbers at the moment are .251 (13th), .420 (8th), .735 (9th) and 4.01 ERA (8th). We end the month with a four game series at Boise. Mark Teixeira's team had a rather bad start to the season and ranks last or next to last in almost all offensive categories, while pitching is among the league leaders.

Again two very good starting pitchers who did their job. But for this game our closer Shelton (1.60 WHIP) fell victim to the armada of baserunners who usually allows.

After the game we activated 1B Eric Duncan (.313, 6 HR, 9 RBI) from the DL, 1B John Cromsie (.217, 2 HR, 3 RBI) is sent back to AAA-Regina. Duncan will lose some playing time as his primary replacment Kendry Morales (.262, 4 HR, 15 RBI) did rather well during the last two weeks.

Elsewhere:

Tampa Bay
reliever Chris Ray (0-0-1, 3.25 ERA) is out for the season with a torn bicep muscle..

The Marmots starting pitcher Kyle Winters (3-2, 3.90 ERA) threw a 3-hit shutout against the Hoosiers (who are 17-31 by the way).

We still do much better than all expectations. Guess most opponents under estimate our mostly no-name roster, who leads the league in runs allowed.

6th June 2012

A very important series around the 2nd placed Cardinals (1.0 game back). On the paper they are a much better team than we are and with probably pitching matchups even sweep us. But so far we show no signs of getting cold after our sensational start to the season.

Before game 1 we activate CF Jeremy Reed (.232, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB) from the DL, while CF Felipe Javier (.294, 1 HR, 6 RBI) makes the trip back to Regina. Reed might have lost his every day job, after a string of great performances by Nate McLouth (.300, 2 HR, 11 RBI, 3 SB).

Injury Report:

Winnipeg:
MR H. Martínez (7 months)
2B B. Upton (4-5 weeks)

St. Louis:
SS T. Mitchell (4 days)
CF C. Beltran (6 days)

Game # 55 – Winnipeg [33-21] (J. Stinson 3-3, 4.48 ERA, 24 BB, 53 K, 1.36 WHIP) at St. Louis [32-22] (W. Watkins 2-1, 3.15 ERA, 10 BB, 42 K, 1.13 WHIP)

Winnipeg:

CF Jeremy Reed (.232, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB)
2B Sharlon Schoop (.319, 3 HR, 20 RBI)
3B Chris Davis (.306, 8 HR, 26 RBI)
SS Joe Harrington (.271, 12 HR, 48 RBI)
1B Kendry Morales (.284, 6 HR, 19 RBI)
LF John Rodriguez (.263, 7 HR, 22 RBI, 2 SB)
RF Jayson Werth (.244, 6 HR, 20 RBI, 3 SB)
C Michael Yates (.250, 0 HR, 2 RBI)

St. Louis:

CF Colby Rasmus (.328, 13 HR, 40 RBI, 6 SB)
RF Ken Duffy (.216, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 5 SB)
LF Albert Pujols (.254, 7 HR, 28 RBI, 4 SB)
1B David Carpenter (.333, 8 HR, 32 RBI, 1 SB)
C Bryan Anderson (.278, 5 HR, 30 RBI)
SS David Uribes (.168, 0 HR, 16 RBI)
2B Orlando Hudson (.321, 7 HR, 29 RBI, 7 SB)
3B Scott Rolen (.261, 4 HR, 24 RBI)

Winnipeg at St. Louis: 2-4

W: W. Watkins (3-1
); L: J. Stinson (3-4)
SV: R. Owen (10)
HR: J. Rodriguez (8) / A. Pujols (8), C. Rasmus (14), K. Duffy (2)
E: K. Morales (3) / D. Carpenter (1)
PoG: W. Watkins - 8.0 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 K

Time: 2:28
Attendance: 39234

Kind of strange game in which we blew the lead with two outs in the 7th. That Watkins guy looks scary and could be one of the most dominating pitchers of the game for years to come.

Elsewhere:

Blue Jays
3B Jeff Baker (.296, 11 HR, 36 RBI) had 5 hits in at 13-11 win over Colorado.

The Royals (!) closer Jonathan Papelbon (5-4-14, 3.55 ERA) signed a new 1-year deal worth $5,630,000.

Gorzelanny almost gave a six run lead away, but the bullpen bailed him out after Pujols hit a huge homerun in the 7th.

Elsewhere:

Colorado
lost its starting pitcher Kevin Fox (4-4, 2.78 ERA) for the season with bone chips in his elbox.

The Brewers 3B Ryan Braun (.293, 12 HR, 28 RBI) had his second three homer game in 10 days as his team won 5-3 over the Giants.

Our C Josh Bard (.276, 6 HR, 20 RBI) signed a new 2-year contract worth $1,430,000. The second year is optional in case one of our young catchers is ready for every day duty.
