A split series against Arizona and this month is still not going well. Nevertheless we still lead the Brewers by four games. They also lead the wildcardrace. As it seems our offense is really missing Schoop and his high OBP. In addition many other guys are very cold. Javier (.000), Upton (.095), Duncan (.105), Davis (.120) and Gonzalez (.179) are looking especially awful. The Giants are only fourth in their division despite a .511 winning percentage. On the paper they look like a pretty average team, and our scout says Gabe Gross is their second best player. Yikes!

Milwaukee traded SS Trevor Plouffe (.215, 3 HR, 9 RBI) to Texas for starting pitcher Scott Baker (8-5, 3.29 ERA) and minor league 2B Luis Montalvo (.284, 3 HR, 36 RBI, 8 SB - A). Awfully bad trade for Texas, but nobody knows why the Brewers keep stockpiling starting pitchers.


Even if we did well against the Giants, we lost another game against the Brewers. The lead is down to three games now. Our batting is still reason for concern, as our average dropped to .255. The Blue Jays don't do as well as expected after moving to our division. They are well below .500, being 13 games behind. only fourth in their division despite a .511 winning percentage. The Canadian derby should be an interesting one nevertheless; even though we haven't played in a dome for ages.

Things went bad against the Blue Jays and our lead is down to two games. Our offense is very one-sided and is almost exclusively carried by potential Rookie of the Year Harrington. Sadly we weren't able to make any trades before the deadline and our waiver claim on Doc Halladay from the Brewers fell through. Our next opponent, the Mets are also struggling and their .441 is the worst in the NL East. Especially their pitching is simply awful.

Finally Sharlon Schoop (.318, 3 HR, 20 RBI) is ready to play ball again. For him disappointing IF Alberto Gonzalez (.253, 0 HR, 12 RBI, 4 SB) makes the trip to AAA - Regina. Schoop should give us much needed stability at the Nr. 2 spot. Even when Schoop is a defensive liability at 2B, he will see action at all infield positions. The Mets series was nothing special, but the Brewers got swept by the lowly Cubs. So our lead grew to four games. are also struggling and their .441 is the worst in the NL East. Especially their pitching is simply awful. Next up are the Reds who try to make the playoffs for the first time since 1995. They are six games out of the wildcard and are primarily carried by very strong starting pitching and the best batting average in the league.
