As good as yesterday's game was, this one was that bad. Danks lasted only 1.2 innings before having to be pulled. He'll be out 1-2 weeks with a dead arm. He was able to give up 2 runs before he left the game, though. Thanks, John. We never really threatened this game. Joe Mauer went 3-4 with a home run, a run scored, 3 RBIs, and a walk to lead the Twins hit parade.

Game #18 – Minnesota [7-10] (N. Blackburn 0-3, 11.68 ERA) at Chicago (A) [7-10] (J. Vazquez 0-2, 5.20 ERA)

Minnesota lineup: CF C. Gomez – 2B A. Casilla – 3B M. Lamb – DH J. Morneau – LF J. Kubel – RF M. Cuddyer – C M. Redmond – 1B D. Deeds – SS A. Everett
Chicago lineup: CF J. Owens – SS O. Cabrera – DH J. Thome – LF N. Swisher – 1B P. Konerko – RF C. Quentin – 3B J. Fields – 2B D. Richar – C C. Armstrong

Minnesota 3
Chicago (A) 2
W: N. Blackburn (1-3) L: J. Vazquez (0-3) S: J. Nathan (6)
HR – CHA: J. Thome 2 (5)

Things were looking ok until the sixth. Javy got Chris Gomez to ground out to start the inning, but then gave up 3 straight singles to Clark, Lamb, and Morneau, before giving up a double to Kubel. With guys on second and third and 1 out, Cuddyer was intentionally walked, and Redmond grounded out to second to score Morneau, and that was it for the scoring. At least Thome had a good game, hitting 2 solo shots and walking twice.

WEEKLY REVIEW
Not a terrible week, going 3-3. We're still not where we want to be, though, so we made quite a few changes to our major league roster. First, we placed John Danks on the 15-day DL. We took quite a few of our prospects off the 40-man roster, including Rick Porcello, Aaron Poreda, Chris Withrow, Charlie Haeger, Jose Martinez, Nick Noonan, and Kanekoa Texeira. We also designated Oneli Perez for assignment. Assuming he clears waivers, we expect him to accept an assignment to the minors.

To replace those guys on the 40-man roster, we added CF Brian Anderson, C Donny Lucy, SS Robert Valido, 1B/C Francisco Hernandez, 3B Micah Schnurstein, LF Ricardo Nanita, and 3B Tim Olson. We called up CF John Shelby, who was hitting .264 with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs in Charlotte. We also called up SS Robert Valido from Charlotte, where he was hitting .136 with 5 RBIs. 1B/C Francisco Hernandez was also called up from Charlotte, where he was hitting .273 with 2 RBIs in 6 games since moving up from Birmingham. We sent down Andrew Sisco to Charlotte, where he can get some more time. Overall, this improves our balance on our major league team, as we had become too pitching-heavy. Even though some of these guys aren't the kind of guys we want playing in the majors, we need them up here to give some of our starters a day off every once in a while. Our depth is something I will continue to try and improve. I know it's a lot in one day, but I think we've figured out who our contributors are going to be on the pitching staff, so it was time to balance our roster.

AL Player of the Week
LF Carl Crawford (TBA) - .519, 5 RBIs, 3 R

NL Player of the Week
LF Matt Holliday (COL) - .696, 3 HR, 9 RBIs

Game #19 – Chicago (A) [7-11] (M. Buehrle 2-1, 6.04 ERA) at Seattle [13-7] (F. Hernandez 4-0, 1.15 ERA)

Chicago lineup: CF J. Owens – RF C. Quentin – DH J. Thome – LF N. Swisher – 1B P. Konerko – 3B J. Fields – SS D. Richar – 2B A. Ramirez – C F. Hernandez
Seattle lineup: CF A. Jones – SS M. Morse – RF I. Suzuki – 3B A. Beltre – 1B R. Sexson – DH W. Balentien – C R. Johnson – 2B M. Cairo – LF R. Ibanez

Chicago (A) 2
Seattle 3
W: F. Hernandez (5-0) L: M. Buehrle (2-2) S: C. Reitsma (1)
HR – SEA: A. Beltre (2)

Once Seattle scored a run in each of the first three innings, I knew we were in trouble with King Felix on the mound. We did score 2 in the top of the 4th, but Carlos Quentin struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning and our only threat of the game. King Felix went 7.1 innings, gave up the 2 runs on 9 hits and 2 walks, and struck out 7.

Matt Cain ruptured his bicep tendon and will miss the rest of the season—11 months. In something kind've odd, the box score shows him pitching 9 innings, and Misch coming in to throw 1 pitch for a strike—no hit, no walk, no strikeouts—no nothing. What makes it a special case is that they “combined” to pitch a no-hitter.
