The semi-fictional '03 Pirates

Being from Mass, it was clear when i first got into OOTP, that i should start a career. With some one other than the Sox! It was enticing to try and win one with them, since at the time they hadnt still in 80+ years, but I chose to go with the Pirates. Small market, little fan interest.

I was a big fan of the Pirates in the Barry Bonds, Doug Drabek, Mike Lavalliere era. And am still a Bonds fan to this day. (Save the arguements please lol),

After starting one career and playing through 8 years form '03, a power outage cost me my first league. I started another with the Pirates, and ran a side by side with the Devil Rays on the other side. Managed 6 years of that league, and lost that one too. Managed all games in both of these leagues. and wow did it take a long time.

Which brings me to my current league. All of these games until '13 were played on OOTP 5 (except the second half of '12 cause i had to be at the start of the season to import all the way to ootp 9). I just never upgraded to a new game because i liked the format of 5, and the manager life that came with it. It lacked some of the options of future games, but i prefered it after playing some demos. The league started with fictional names but based on real players from the '03 years rosters. William Schmidt, for example, is A-Rod. Jose Reyes is Gino Bourg, and so on. As previously mentioned, I have moved on to OOTP 9, so my manager career will continue there, with out children and such. But heres is my dynasty so far.

The owner was always a horror. He demanded 500 ball in '03. After gutting my rosters, i managed it. I missed the playoffs by 3 games. The wild card race was very exciting that year. My best statistical year, with 122 wins, i lost in the first round (seemed to happen a lot with the team with the best record in this league).

Im enjoying 9 so far, but am simming and GM'ing the Pirates on 5 still.

While this is a very limited informational thread on a Dynasty, especially compared to some of the historic replays i see on here, I'm very proud of my teams. So ive included it here for people to see. While im not expecting any questions about my league, ill be happy to answer any. Thanks for reading!

Your ability to win that many titles with the Pirates clearly demonstrates some of V5's flaws.

I prefer to think it shows my skills as GM!
