A Little Team From Far North Queeensland In The World League
Hey guys Attempting a dynasty for the first timeHave created a world league using the same set up as the major league. With a Northern Hemisphere replacing the American League (dh rule as well) And the Southern hemisphere replacing the national league. I have taken over the role of the Cairns Backpackers Gm and have assembled my team. So through a mixture of press conferences, newspaper reports and whatever else I can come up. I have simmed through 1 season and finished 3rd in the southern hemisphere east division, only one game away from the wild card. A lack of bullpen depth killed me so I know what i'm after in the off season. CAIRNS BACKPACKERS FORM GUIDE 06-07 It was the best of years it was the worst of years...something along those lines anyway. The 06-07 Packers kept us interested the whole season but ,ultimately, they reminded me of my first sexual experience. Much hyped, alot of bang but soooo anti-climactic. The depth just wasn't there and THAT bullpen. Lead after lead squandered ,opposition teams just waiting for the starter to tire then badaboom lead gone game gone. But it wasn't all bad news the hitting was sensational. A Southern Hemisphere leading .272 batting average, 177 home runs, the crowd at Cazalys Stadium saw some good hitting. Anyway as a humble observer of a year of ups and downs here is my take on the 06-07 season THE GOOD Damien Welch Wow, wow, wow and wow again. What is there left to say about the 22 year old Southern Hemisphere rookie of the year. Sure critics will point out 146 strike outs, but I bet none of them can smash the ball over 400 feet with apparent ease. If Welch can keep a lid on things and reign in his voracious appetite for women the wrong side of 20, who are at risk of dissapearing down the drainhole next shower. A seat in the hall of fame awaits him. Lets hope his talent is fulfilled. |

Alberto Ramirez Mr Reliable batting in the 3 spot. Responsible for 133 RBIs and a On Base Percentage of .443. Was unlucky to miss out on All Star selection midway through the year. Could not ask for more from the 25 year old Cuban. |

Jari Voerhoevan Batting clean for the Backpackers the "flying dutchman" was a revelation in Cairns this past season. With the ability to find the gap when needed or smash one over the fence.Voerhaven was an indespensible member of the Backpackers lineup. |

THE GOOD
Antonio Munoz Mr Fix it. World Baseball League All Star. 28 save opportunities 27 completed. Munoz unfortunately had to spend some time as a reliever, attempting to prop up a very average bullpen. A marvelous season by the Cuban. And hopefully GM Alex Jenkins can find some pitching support for next season. |
