"Here kid, drink this," said Jacky, slamming a small glass on the table at P.J.'s, "it'll help you relax."

Francis hesitated and looked up at Jacky, who nodded his head. Francis looked down at the glass.

"What is it?"

"Whiskey sour, you'll love it," said Jacky, with a laugh.

Francis complied, tipped it back, and drank some.

Just then, Jonathan Faubert walked in, his arm around a pretty young brunette. They came and sat in the booth right across from Francis.

"Who's the girl," asked Jacky, never one to beat around the bush.

"I'm Mary," smiled the young lady, wearing blue and white sundress.

Francis was all confused. What happened to Helen? They must have broken up. He felt himself getting excited.

"Franky, I don't think I've ever seen you drink before," laughed Jonathan, his long arm still draped around Mary, "Maybe it'll help you relax. You must be hittin below .200, eh?"

Francis just nodded his head. He was batting .179 to be exact, but had a two-hit game the day before. Luckily the team was still playing well, sitting in first place at 8-2. He looked at Jacky, who smirked, walked up to the bar, and brought back another Whiskey Sour.

After a few minutes, Mary got up and excused herself to the ladies room, but not before placing a long kiss on Jonathan's lips.

As she walked away, Jonathan smiled. "Pretty, eh?" he asked Francis, who nodded.

"Thank God Helen is working," said Jonathan, as he sipped his drink, "she's been a piece of work lately."

Francis felt like someone punched him in the gut. Not only were they still together, but he was two-timing her.

"Hey Jacky, can you get me another?" asked Francis, as he finished off drink number two.

Francis stared out the window, wishing he were outside at Hanlan's Point Park, practicing his swing or taking fly balls. He had been antsy lately, frustrated with the way he'd been playing. He was only batting .159, and everytime he had a good game, he'd follow it up with three or four oh-fers in a row.

"Hello sir, can you help me open an account?"

The voice startled Francis, snapping him back into reality. He looked up to see Helen standing in front of him, wearing a beautiful pink dress and white hat.

"Oh uh...hi Helen," mumbled Francis, "sit down."

Helen sat down and laughed. "I don't really want to open account, just want to say hi," she said, "I hear you are playing quite a bit on the base ball team. I wish I could see more games but it seems that everytime I come home you guys are away."

Francis sighed, "yeah, I'm not doing great, but I'm working real hard with the coaches and I think I'm getting better."

Francis paused. "And I really like my new job. I'm so thankful that your father let me start working with the customers."

Helen smiled her big smile. "That's really great Francis, you look great in your suit."

Francis blushed, then looked down at his desk. "How are things with Jonathan?"

"Oh ya know, they're fine I guess," replied Helen, her smile gone, "It's hard because I'm working so much. Sometimes I wonder where he and I are heading."

Francis nodded. Awkward silence ensued.

"Well I guess I should be leaving. Me and some girl friends are going out tonight, you should come along," said Helen, her smile back.

"Oh thanks, but I have a date tonight," replied Francis, lying.

"Oh really? Wow, well good for you. She's a lucky girl." She smiled, turned, and walked out of the bank.

"A date?" Francis thought to himself, "I'm an idiot."

Any chance that OOTP10 has rekindled any interest in continuing the saga of Francis?
