The New England Baseball League

I decided to try my hand at a fictional dynasty. I created a league, based on cities I grew up in, near or around as a child. I am not sure how it will play out, but below is the league setup, followed by team previews!

There are two leagues, the Northern and Southern leagues, each with two divisions. The Northern Division consists of the Maine League, which is home to the Orono Riot, Augusta Moose, Bangor Crusaders and the Portland Bulldogs. Also part of the Northern Division is the New Hampshire League, which will see the Newmarket Mules, Durham Bobcats, Dover Green Wave, and the Portsmouth Clippers.

The first division in the Southern League is the Central Division, which is home to the Exeter Blue Hawks, Manchester Titans, Nashua Titans and the Gloucester Fishermen. The Massachusetts Division will consist of the Peabody Tanners, Danvers Falcons, Marblehead Magicians, and the Salem Witches.

The season will consist of 120 games, with a balanced schedule. I set everything (finances, and the like) to 1976, which was the year I was born. I will be controlling the Newmarket Mules (my hometown until I was 15). I manually drafted the first 50 rounds for Newmarket, letting the computer take over from there. April 10-SS Bobby Harris hit the first homerun in Mules history, a two run shot in the 2nd inning that gave Newmarket a 2-1 lead, a lead they would not surrender as the Mules beat the Bulldogs 3-1. Jesus Guardado pitched eight innings, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out six earning the first ever victory for the Mules. Other firsts for Newmarket consisted of Fernando Peraltz picking up the first hit, a single, Ryan Vickerson scoring the first run and John Coury picking up the first save. (1-0)

April 28-Mario Decos hit a grand slam, his 4th homerun in his last four games, but it wasn't enough as Jose Munoz went 2-5 with a homer and three RBI as August outlasted Newmarket 9-7. Francis Lewis and Andy Taylor each drove in a pair of runs for the Moose in the win. (8-9)

I created a league, based on cities I grew up in, near or around as a child. I am not sure how it will play out, but below is the league setup, followed by team previews! There are two leagues, the Northern and Southern leagues, each with two divisions. The Northern Division consists of the Maine League, which is home to the Orono Riot, Augusta Moose, Bangor Crusaders and the Portland Bulldogs. Also part of the Northern Division is the New Hampshire League, which will see the Newmarket Mules, Durham Bobcats, Dover Green Wave, and the Portsmouth Clippers. The first division in the Southern League is the Central Division, which is home to the Exeter Blue Hawks, Manchester Titans, Nashua Titans and the Gloucester Fishermen. The Massachusetts Division will consist of the Peabody Tanners, Danvers Falcons, Marblehead Magicians, and the Salem Witches. The season will consist of 120 games, with a balanced schedule. I set everything (finances, and the like) to 1976, which was the year I was born. I will be controlling the Newmarket Mules (my hometown until I was 15). George Thomas allowed just one unearned run over seven innings, striking out six, earning the win. Victor Moreno went 3-5 with two runs scored in the win, and Luis Ortiz drove in a run for the Mules with a first inning double. (7-3) W-Matt Thomas (2-1) L-Jesus Guardardo (2-1) HR-POR Rob Gibson (6) April 22,23,24 at Durham Bobcats (7-4) April 22-Tomas De Jesus pitched 8 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, allowing just six hits and one walk while striking out nine, and Jim Dunbar hit a two run homerun as the Bobcats blanked the Mules 4-0. Fernando Peralta was the lone bright spot for Newmarket as he picked up three hits in four at bats. (7-4) W-Tomas De Jesus (1-1) L-Dan Zimmerman (1-2) HR-OYS Jim Dunbar (6), Dana Rankin (4) April 23-William Vinson homered twice, driving in 3, and Richard Batterham went 4-5 with two RBI as Durham beat up on Newmarket, winning 9-3. Ronald Combs went 2-5 with three RBI for the victors while Roberto Rodriguez hit a solo HR amongst his three hits for the Mules in the loss. Roberto Rodriguez homered for a 2nd straight day in a losing effort.
