4/25/2008 Sergada Roundup

Nicholson Shuts Down Anglers, 5-0 Win for Peaks
A team cannot win a ballgame without scoring at least one run, and Peak SP Cole Nicholson (1-3, 3.77, 8 BB & 12 K in 28.2 IP) shut down the Lake Indigo Anglers 5-0, giving his team a rare victory. Port Height also enjoyed production from the bottom of the lineup, with #6 batter Rich Warner (.300/.382/.450) and #7 batter Jorge Molina (.264/.278/.321) both going 3-4 and providing a combined 4 RBIs.

Barry Mows Down Hermits, Saints Win 3-2
Silver Cove topped the visiting Far City Hermits 3-2 and David Barry (2-1, 4.50, 14 BB & 26 K in 20 IP) gave the Hermits problems all night long. Barry went 7 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and an astounding 13 strikeouts. Clarence Standridge (.185/.308/.407) had the best game at the plate for the Hermits, going 1-4 with a solo home run.
Pitchers Rule in Channel City, Axton Wins 3-2
The Lumber Kings managed to squeeze more runs out of today's limited chances than the Scientists, leading to a 3-2 win. Duane Wilkinson (.357/.493/.732) really stepped up for Axton in the #3 spot of the lineup, going 2-4 with a double (3), a solo home run (6), and two runs scored. The Lumber Kings featured 5 pitchers in the game, going a combined 9 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, and 10 K.

Standings
Axton 11-5, -- GB
Silver Cove 11-6, 0.5 GB

4/25/2008 Southhedge Roundup

Stevenson a 1-Man Wrecking Crew, Dayford 10-1 Win
The IBA's last undefeated team continues to flounder after being trounced by the visiting Dayford Lakers 10-1. Steve Stevenson (.444/.536/.926) again struck fear into the hearts of opposing pitchers, going 2-2 today with 2 home runs (6), 4 RBIs (21), and 3 walks. Quinn Stewart (2-1, 4.01, 4 BB & 15 K in 24.2 IP) pitched himself out of some tight spots on the way to earning the win, going 7 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 3 BB and 2 K.

Crestway Beats Chesterside 3-1
It was a tough day at the plate for both teams but it was the Rivermen who came out on front, 3-1 over the Em's. It was 1B and #2 batter Scott Taylor (.268/.316/.408) who made played the best game, going 2-4 for Crestway with a solo shot (2), 1 RBI, 2 runs scored and a walk. Crestway SP Donald MacGaw (2-1, 5.03, 11 B & 16 K in 19.2 IP) only went 4.2 IP because his continuously was in trouble, but only allowed 1 ER and stranded 7 runners.
Clifton Grand Slam Gives Blue Sox 5-1 Win
A tight pitching duel between Elmore and Knoxview was blown up in the 6th after CF Bryan Clifton (.355/.429/.694) hit a grand slam (HR #6, RBI #16), leading the Sox to a 5-1 win. Quincy Curtis (2-2, 4.70, 4 BB & 15 K in 23 IP) was solid for Elmore, going 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 1 BB and 6 K. The season series now stands at Knoxview 2, Elmore 1.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm giving in....

Writing updates on every single game is getting out of hand. From now on, I'll be writing league recaps once a week (in the game). \

So less updating...more detail on the updates that I do give

Do it the way you want to do it.

It has to be fun and enjoyable and not work.

It's tough to cover every game, especially when you have more than 16 teams to cover.

Hi Erik,

Sorry about the delays. Unfortunately I had to take care of a few time-consuming but not serious 'real life' things in the past couple months.

I should be able to resume this report again soon!
