After 120 years of running a 40-team league, the simulating is getting quite slow. It takes five minutes alone just to load the game database. It's getting close to the time where I'm going to have to delete the database and start over. For example, if it's the year 2230 when I delete the database, I'll just start a new league in the year 2231. I'll lose the players' stats, but I'll still retain the number of team championships in a separate file. So the Yankees will still have their 38 titles!
I'll just have to edit the news articles every time a team wins a championship, so no big deal. Also, in the next couple of years, I want to add four expansion teams. 2 in the AL, and 2 in the NL. What cities should I pick? Last edited by jg2977; 09-07-2009 at 07:54 AM. |

2223 Playoff Format Change
As league commissioner, I've decided that it's time to go back to the original playoff format. To make the playoffs, you have to be the best of the best. The #9 through #16 seeds never make it to to the World Series anyway, so why bother with the long process of the early rounds?
The top 4 teams in each league will make the playoffs. In the first two rounds, (League Semifinals and League Championship Series), having the better record will be very important. The series will be best-of-nine. The team with the better record will play the first two games on the road, but will have the final seven games at home. In the World Series, the format will be 3 home, 4 away, 2 home. |

2223 Standings after 162 games
After 162 games, 7 of the 8 playoff teams have been decided. In the AL, we have the Boston Red Sox, New Orleans Jazz, and Texas Rangers. In the NL, we have the Montreal Expos, New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, and San Diego Padres.
The Hartford Whalers and New York Yankees are tied for 4th, and will take part in a play-in game for the right to face the Red Sox in the first round of the playoffs. |

American League Play-In Game
The Yankees easily defeated the Whalers at Yankee Stadium to qualify for the postseason. The two-time defending American League Champion Whalers have been eliminated. Miles Papazian (21-7) got the win, while Kenny McCormick (23-9) got the loss. The Yankees blasted 8 home runs in the game from seven different players.

2223 Playoffs: First Round, Game 1
All of the home teams won on Day 1, which means that the #1 and #2 seeds all lost. Remember, in this new format, the format is 2 games at home, and the last 7 on the road.
