Major League Baseball is happy to announce the arrival of four new franchises over the next two seasons.

In 2115, the Carolina Storm, based in Raleigh, NC, and the Utah Grizzlies, based in Salt Lake City, UT, will begin operations. They will play in the National League.

In 2116, be prepared to say hello to the Buffalo Wings, based in Buffalo, NY, and the Jacksonville Suns, based in Jacksonville, FL. They will play in the American League.

Here are the major candidates for the next wave of expansion within the next ten years:
Newark, NJ
Oklahoma City, OK
Honolulu, HI
Nashville, TN
Memphis, TN
Sacramento, CA
Vancouver, BC
Birmingham, AL
San Juan, Puerto Rico
Indianapolis, IN
Louisville, KY
Albuquerque, NM
Omaha, NE
Providence, RI
Edmonton, AB
Calgary, AB

A long list of choices here. Only four will be lucky enough to have an MLB franchise.

2116 League Championship Series

The New York Yankees' amazing run of five straight World Championships is over as they fell to the Detroit Tigers in six games. There will be a new champion this year. Mike Wooten, now with the Hartford Whalers, is 38 years old and has 8 MVP awards, virtue of his 838 home runs. He is still looking for his first World Championship. Ironically, he played with the New York Yankees from 2007-2010. 2111 was when the Yankees started their World Series run. So you can bet that he is extremely hungry for a World Series ring. As for the Whalers, after winning their miracle championship in 2103, they fell on some hard times for a decade. However, they have rebounded nicely in the past couple of years and are the heavy favorites to come out on top this year.

The other very interesting story in this year's playoffs is the New York Mets. This is their 12th playoff appearance in the 16 years of the league, but they have only 2 NL pennants and 0 World Series to show for it. So their fans are hungry for a title too. And their fans are tired of playing second fiddle to the Yankees.

The Detroit Tigers are looking for their first AL Pennant as they try to topple the Whalers. The Pittsburgh Pirates are trying to win their 2nd NL Pennant as they try to derail the Mets. This year's LCS will be very interesting.

2116 World Series: New York Mets vs. Hartford Whalers

We have our dream matchup in the World Series: Mets vs. Whalers. This is the 4th pennant for the Mets, and the 2nd for the Whalers. The Mets are trying to win their 1st title, the Whalers their 2nd.

Game 1
New York Mets000000000042
Hartford Whalers10033100X8120

Game 1 was dominated by the Whalers as their superstar pitcher Brennan Lane shut down the Mets. Our main guy, Mike Wooten, helped the cause, going 1-2 with 3 walks and scoring a run. Hartford leads the series 1 game to none.

Game 2
New York Mets0000002709121
Hartford Whalers002000010390

Game 2 was close until the 8th inning, when the Mets exploded for seven runs. Mike Wooten did have a home run, but the series is tied 1-1 going back to Citi Field in New York.

Game 3
Hartford Whalers00303013010130
New York Mets40001500111121

Game 3 was a high scoring, see-saw affair that saw the Mets come out on top in the bottom of the ninth. Mike Wooten had another home run for Hartford for his 6th homer of the postseason, but it wasn't enough as the Mets took a 2-1 lead in the World Series.

Game 4
Hartford Whalers000000001171
New York Mets00041000X581

The New York Mets took control of the World Series with an easy victory in Game 4. They are only one win away from ending their long playoff frustration. All that Mike Wooten could muster for the Whalers was a two out double in the 6th inning as he went 1 for 4. The Mets lead the series 3 games to 1.

Game 5
Hartford Whalers0101000035122
New York Mets000010000151

The Whalers staved off elimination as the Mets failed to clinch the title on their home field. Superstar pitcher Brennan Lane shut down the Mets. Mike Wooten helped the Whalers' cause by going 1 for 4 with a walk. Although he didn't drive in a run, he scored one and helped to set up another. The Mets lead the series 3 games to 2 as we go back to Hartford for Game 6.

A brief history on Brennan "Hoover" Lane: He is 229-48 with a 1.92 ERA and 3,318 strikeouts in ten seasons. He has won 6 Cy Young Awards and will probably win another one this year, as he went 30-1 with a 1.45 ERA and 340 K's. Finally, he has thrown 2 no-hitters, one of those being a perfect game.

Game 6
New York Mets000100002351
Hartford Whalers01300004X8110

The Whalers have come back to tie the series and force a Game 7. Pitcher Jon Fleming pitched great to help the Whalers to another easy victory. Fleming, now 29, had been a good pitcher, nothing spectacular, over his first 6 seasons with St. Louis. But the Whalers saw something, and signed him three years ago. Fleming has really found his niche in Hartford, going 48-7 in the past two years with an ERA in the low 2's. Mike Wooten is only one win away from his first title. He only went 0 for 3 with a walk, but helped contribute to a run with that walk.
