July 20th-22nd
Game 1, Att: 48,732 ![]() ![]() ![]() A game that we could've so easily have lost, we got Penny out of the game early in the 2nd with a 7 run blitz but from that point there was only 1 team in it as the Red Sox fought back and we crumbled as we committed 4 errors allowing the Red Sox back into the game, in the top of the 9th the Red Sox had the bases loaded but failed to score a run from it, in the bottom of the 9th Papelbon's 2nd pitch was sent out the park by Teagarden for his 7th of the year, Buck hit the other home run of the game in the 3rd with 2 on for his 10th of the year. Game 2, Att: 48,773 ![]() ![]() ![]() A tight and tense affair as we stole it 2-1. The game was a pitching duel between Feliz and Wakefield, Feliz at last showed the ability we know he has, he wasn't able to claim his 1st win in the majors but he didn't lose the game. Young drove in both our runs and Buck drove in the only Red Sox run of the game. Game 3, Att: 48,993 ![]() ![]() ![]() Kevin Millwood produced a gem of a game as he shutout the Red Sox and gave up only 4 hits. The offence did it's job by scoring runs and slowly edging us to the win. Murphy hit the only home run of the game in the 4th for his 10th of the year. |

Game 1, Att: 36,179 ![]() ![]() ![]() One of those games that we nicked even though we weren't totally at the races, I'm sure the Royals feel hard done by but that's how sport works sometimes. Feldman was a little off today but he just did enough to record win number 12th, Hamilton hit the only home run of the game in the 8th with 1 on for his 11th of the year. Game 2, Att: 38,361 ![]() ![]() ![]() The game started off well for us, as we forced Davies out of the game in the 3rd by that time he'd given up 7 runs off 7 hits and walked 6, maybe we thought we'd done enough for the win and relaxed abit, McCarthy was pulled in the 7th with 1 out needed to end the innings and that's when it went "pete tong", Gabbard who pitched well yesterday against the left handed part of the Kansas line up was taken to the cleaners today, Kansas scored 5 runs in the innings before the final out was got, but the momentun was with Kansas as they scored 4 in the 8th to give them a comfortable lead which they held on too in the top of the 9th to take a great comeback win. The only home runs came from Kansas bats, Ka'aihue hit his 3rd of the year in the 6th he's been on fire since he got the call and Olivohit his 8th of the year in the 8th with 1 on. Game 3, Att: 37,791 ![]() ![]() ![]() The Royals carried on from where they left off yesterday, as they hit 5 runs in the 1st to basicly end the game there and then. Greinke was on top form today as our batters just didn't know what to do aside from strike out. DeJesus hit the only home run of the game in the 1st with 2 on for his 3rd of the year. The only downside of the win for Kansas was that both of their catchers got injured. Last edited by Doc_Brown; 11-05-2009 at 09:47 AM. |

Game 1, Att: 49,094 ![]() ![]() ![]() After losing 2 on the spin, it's nice to get back to winning ways. Feliz was on super top form today as he produced the goods we know he can at this level and he duly claimed his 1st win in the "show". He was on course for a perfect game until he walked a batter in the 6th, but a 5 hit shutout for your first win is still a good effort. The only home run came in the 4th innings when Blalock launched one out of the ground for his 10th of the year. Game 2, Att: 48,632 ![]() ![]() ![]() The roles were reversed from yesterday as Verlander was on top fprm, as we struggled to hit him, at one stage it looked like he was on for his 2nd shutout in 3 games. Blalock hit his 11th home run of the year in the 6th with one on for the Tigers, Polanco hit his 2nd of the year in the 5th and the next batter Cabrera hit his 17th of the year and there was one more home run in the 5th from the bat of Guillen with 1 on for his 8th of the year, Inge then hit his 10th of the year in the 7th. Game 3, Att: 48,981 ![]() ![]() ![]() A sloppy 3rd cost us the game today and for the 2nd series in a row we lost it 2-1 after taking the 1st game. We got a few hits off of Porcello but we just couldn't get the guys round the bases and we weren't hitting pitched out of the park either you do that in baseball and it equals, DEFEAT. Guillen hit the only homer of the game in the 8th for his 9th of the season. |

Rangers trade news: 7/29 Cincinnati Reds offered us Edwin Encarnacion(3B) and in return wanted Taylor Teagarden(C), Joaquin Benoit(MR),Renny Osuna(3B), Carlos Dominguez(C) and $1,050,000. Even though it was a "great" offer I decided to pass on it this time, I wouldn't want to rob the Reds. Team Injuries: 7/27 Andruw Jones- Fractured thumb-6 weeks. July 30th-August 2nd
Game 1, Att: 48,645 ![]() ![]() ![]() A high scoring game but not a memorable one. It swung back and forth until the middle innings where we scored 9 unanswered runs, but in traditional Rangers style we gave up late innings runs, and the way we've played of late it wouldn't have been a shock if the Mariners had taken the lead and won the game. There were 3 home runs in the game, Blalock hit his 12th of the year in the 5th with 1 on and for the Mariners Balentien hit his 19th of the year in the 2nd with 1 on and Branyan got his 9th of the year in the 8th with 1 on. Game 2, Att: 48,629 ![]() ![]() ![]() A game that turned out to be a rather comfortable win for us, as we shut down the Mariners and picked up the runs every now and then to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Cruz hit the only home run of the game in the 5th with 1 on for his 3rd of the year. Game 3, Att: 48,666 ![]() ![]() ![]() A game that came down to the 9th innings, in the top of the 9th the Mariners got the lead and given our record in tight games it looked like it may have been enough, but in the bottom of the 9th Young got a single and the Kinsler delievered a walk off home run, his 16th of the year. Balentien hit his 20th home run of the year in the 2nd innings, he was later ejected from the game for arguing a call. Game 4, Att: 48,787 ![]() ![]() ![]() A solid all-round performance today enabled us to take the series 4-0. Seattle went through several pitchers in a bid to stem the flow of runs. There were 4 home runs in the game, Byrd got his 10th of the year in the 2nd with 1 on, Young hit his 9th of the year in the 3rd and B.Harrison hit his first career home run in the 6th with 1 on for the Mariners Branyan hit his 5th of the year in the 3rd with 1 on. |

July in review
Rangers hitting ![]() Rangers pitching ![]() Rangers MVP so far: Michael Young 8HR's 69RBI's .326AVG After a slow start Young has now started to get the hits, his glovework this month has been great too. Rangers Cy Young so far: Brandon McCarthy 12-3 3.16ERA 28BB 60K. McCarthy has veen outstanding so far this year and we hope he'll carry on producing the goods when he's on the mound. Minor League review Oklahoma RedHawks(AAA): 54-53 4GB. July record 15-12. It was a good month for the RedHawks until the 27th then they lost 5 games so what was a good month could've been even better, the dip in form may have had something to do with B.Harrison being called upto the Rangers on the 27th. Next month they need to start how they started in July and someone else has to step up and fill Harrison's output. Oklahoma RedHawks MVP so far: Ben Harrison 28HR's 82RBI's .319AVG. A great performance by Ben and he's since got his chance in the Majors and he has the chance to stake his claim to stay there. Oklahoma RedHawks Cy Young so far: Beau Vaughan 6-1 13 saves 3.66ERA 32BB 49K. We hope that Beau can carry on in August the way he's pitched all year. We are looking forward to him joining up with the Rangers in September. Frisco Rough Riders(AA): 50-56 9GB. July record 15-13. Again the Riders had a good month but it could've been better, they'd win 2 games then lose 1, win 2 and that's how the month went, although they have closed the gap by 2 games since last month. Rough Riders MVP so far: Jonathan Greene 23HR's 69RBI's .251AVG Rough Riders Cy Young so far: Jose R. Diaz 5-0 3 saves 2.06ERA 42BB 53K Bakersfield Blaze(A): 53-53 10.5GB. July record 13-16. From the 2nd of the month until the 12th the Blaze lost 10 out of 11 games so to go 12-6 from that point on was a good effort, but if they couls've started the month the way they ended it, they could have been with in striking distance of the San Jose Giants. Blaze MVP so far: Chad S. Tracy 19HR's 64RBI's .270AVG Blaze Cy Young so far: Blake Beavan 7-5 2.52ERA 27BB 120K Hickory Crawdads(A): 44-62 18GB. July record 12-16. Once again the Crawdads have been hit and miss, they never won more than 2 in a row and never lost more than 2 in a row. The good news is they're still ahead of the Delmarva Shoebirds. Crawdads MVP so far: Leonel De Los Santos 10HR's 56RBI's .249AVG Crawdads Cy Young so far: Fabio Castillo 3-0 22 saves 2.00ERA 31BB 75K Spokane Indians(SA): 19-19 1GB. July record 17-13. 7 defeats out of the last 11 games took the gloss off of what was a good month for the Indians, we're hopeful that next month they'll step up and set the pace in the division. Indians MVP so far: Carlos Dominguez 4HR's 23RBI's .286AVG Indians Cy Young so far: Ryan Turner 2-1 8 saves 3.38ERA 7BB 13K AZL Rangers(R): 10-19 16GB. July record 8-18. 12 defeats in the last 15 games really was a hammer blow to any chance the Rangers had of being a contendor this season. Rangers MVP so far: Steven Nichols 5HR's 14RBI's .209AVG Rangers Cy Young so far: Joe Torres 0-0 0.00ERA 4BB 20K |

August 3rd-6th
Game 1, Att: 34,785 ![]() ![]() ![]() Our first extra innings win of the season(takes us to 1-5), although we could've won it in the 9th, but we blew the lead and almost lost the game. We hit 4 home runs in the game, Young hit his 10th of the year in the 5th, Saltalamacchia his 9th of the year in the 9th and Cruz hit 2 to take him to 5 for the year his first came in the 9th and the 2nd in the 11th to give us the win. Game 2, Att: 34,233 ![]() ![]() ![]() You wait ages for a Grand Slam then 2 come along in the same game. Oakland took an early lead and we hit back with 3 runs in the 2nd and that's how the score stayed until the 6th, when B.Harrison hit his 1st career GRAND SLAM to make it a 7-1 game, then in the bottom of the inning Hammel who'd eneterd the game served his 2nd pitch on a platter and Crosby hit his 1st home run of the year and that was a GRAND SLAM too, the Athletics then added a few more insurance runs to take the game. The other home run of the game was a solo shot ib the 6th by Nelson for his 7th of the year. Game 3, Att: 34,336 ![]() ![]() ![]() Today's win was based on 2 home runs from B.Harrison his 3rd and 4th of the year, we added 3 runs in the 9th just to make sure of the win. Game 4, Att: 28,041 ![]() ![]() ![]() Another game where we did the basics and kept the scoreboard moving to ease our way to the win, Feliz and Strop both pitched well to take the win and save respectively. |

August 7th-9th
Game 1, Att: 31,493 ![]() ![]() ![]() Another one of those close games that could've gone either way, neither team looked threatening offensively, but we managed to maneuver the runners around the bases to home more than the Angels could. Elvis Andrus has a good day as he went 5 for 5(2 singles and 3 doubles). Game 2, Att: 31,636 ![]() ![]() ![]() German made an error and the Angels took full advantage as they rattled in 5 runs. We then spent the rest of the game trying to get back on level terms, which by some miracle we did in the 8th only to lose it in the 9th. Game 3, Att: 32,035 ![]() ![]() ![]() Diaz's home run in the 2nd was the game winner for the Angels, backed up with some impressive pitching from Saunders proved too much for us. I think some of the guys in the line up need a rest so I'll be making some changes for the next few games. Diaz hit the only home run of the game with 2 on in the 2nd for his 4th of the year. |

August 11th-13th
Game 1, Att: 36,686 ![]() ![]() ![]() This game ended alot closer than it should've done and that was due to Cliff Lee leaving the game due to injury, if he hadn't left the game we could still be playing now trying to score some runs off of him. The 1st innings that he didn't pitch our bats came alive and we tied the game at 4, it looked like we might get out of jail and take the win but Sizemore hit his 18th of the year in the 11th to win it. Choo hit the other home run of the game in the 5th with 1 on for his 12th of the year. Game 2, Att: 36,754 ![]() ![]() ![]() What can you say about our performance, awful. Our hitting was woeful but again it looked like we may get out of jail and nick the win. Feliz pitched well for 7 and Strop carried on his good form with a scoreless 8th just leaving it for Francisco to do what he's done 9/10 this year a 1-2-3 innings to record the save and get the win. Sadly real life doesn't follow the plans you set, as he walked 2 and give up 2 hits as the Indians tied the game to take it into extra innings and in the 10th with 2 on Martinez hit an infield single to drive in the winning run. Game 3, Att: 22,578 ![]() ![]() ![]() Once again the Indians outplayed us and made us look below average. When your starter walks the 1st 2 hitter he faces and the 3rd he faces hits one out of the park you know it's going to be a long day. We hit back with 4 in the 2nd to take the lead for the first and last time of the game, the Indians added runs at will and Gabbard was back to his useless best as he loaded the bases and walked in a run for his trouble. Martinez hit the only home run of the game in the 1st with 2 on for his 11th of the year. |

Game 1, Att: 48,745 ![]() ![]() ![]() After the last 5 games we needed a win, we didn't send the ball out of the park but we did manage to keep the scoreboard ticking over, although not as quickly as I'd like it to have. Again Francisco caused the hearts in the Texas dugout to race a little faster as he gave up the only home run of the game to Ortiz in the 9th for his 9th of the year and then allowing 2 runners to get on, but he pulled through and got the needed outs for his 22nd save of the year. Game 2, Att: 48,845 ![]() ![]() ![]() A close game that could've gone either way but it seems that the baseball Gods are favoring us again. Neither of the starters were on their A-game today as they gave up hits and runs. We left it late to tie the game up and take the lead. Gabbard pitched well for us today he really is an enigmatic I'm sure even he doesn't know what version is going to pull up on a daily basis. Ortiz hit the only Red Sox home run of the game in the 4th for his 10th of the year. Blalock hit 2 taking his tally to 14 for the year his 1st came in the 4th and his 2nd in the 8th, Hamilton got the game winning run for his 12th of the year in the 9th. That's the 2nd time we've gotten a walk off home run versus Papelbon. Game 3, Att: 48,909 ![]() ![]() ![]() After a great fightback we once again blew it in extra innings(our season record in extra innings games stands at 1-8). The Red Sox started off with an 8 run burst in the 1st 3 innings, but we slowly got back into the game but then extra innings and Francisco allows a runner to get on and Pedroia drove in the winning run. Hamilton was ekected from the game for arguing a call and I made a line up error when I went to replace the useless Byrd with Cruz and pulled Saltalamacchia by accident. Kinsler hit his 17th of the year in the 3rd and Blalock's purple patch carries on as he got number 15 for the year in the 5th, for Boston Bay blagged his 8th of the year in the 3rd and Youkilis got his 16th of the year in the 8th with 1 on. |

August 17th-20th
Game 1, Att: 48,823 ![]() ![]() ![]() Another game that had the heart rate beating faster in the Rangers dugout. It was touch and go until the 7th where we scored 5 and looked as if we'd wrapped the game up, but it wouldn't be a Rangers game unless we give up late inning runs. Feliz probably had his worst performance since his call up yet managed to pick up the win. Saltalamacchia became the latest Ranger batter to get into double figures regarding home runs when he hit his 10th of the year in the 2nd and Hamilton got his 13th of the year in the 7th with 2 on, for Minnesota Kubel got his 15th of the year in the 9th and it was a GRAND SLAM. Game 2, Att: 48,946 ![]() ![]() ![]() Once again we almost snatched defeat from the jaws of victory but we managed to rally in the 9th to claim the win on another day Minnesota would've won but leaving runners in scoring position proved costly for them today. Game 3, Att: 48,615 ![]() ![]() ![]() We're fastly becoming experts in these last minute escapes, like yesterday we were behind going into the 9th but again we took the win. Feldman pitched well until he gave up 3 runs in the 7th, but Gabbard and Hammel did a great containing job and Wilson pitched a perfect 9th. Then with Murphy and German out and Harrison on base it looked like extra innings but Andrus drove in Harrison, Cruz was then hit by a pitch so Andrus moved over to 2nd and Kinsler stepped up and drove in the winning run. Game 4, Att: 48,643 ![]() ![]() ![]() Again Minnesota score in the 1st, but from then on they were shutout. We replied with 3 in the 2nd with Teagarden getting his 8th of the year with 1 on , we added another run in the 5th and that was the end of the scoring. Our pitchers played well today and Strop recorded his 4th save of the year. |

August 21st-23rd
Game 1, Att: 36,657 ![]() ![]() ![]() After a high scoring 1st innings it looked like we were in for a football score, but the pitchers got themselves back into the game and stemmed the flow. The Ryas tied the score in the 5th and we eased ahead in the 6th and it stayed like that until the 9th when the Rays got to within 1 run but that's how close they got. Pena hit the only home run of the game in the 1st with 2 on for his 22nd of the year. Game 2, Att: 36,881 ![]() ![]() ![]() This game was over in the 1st after Burrell hit a GRAND SLAM and that was more than enough for Tampa as we just couldn't buy a run off of Wang. Burrel hit his 26th of the year in the 5th with 1 on and to make it look as comfortable as it was they added 3 more runs in the 8th. For us there was no good news in this game and it got worse when Benoit got injured whilst pitching. Game 3, Att: 36,750 ![]() ![]() ![]() After Burrell's home run show yesterday we managed to prevent the Rays from sending the ball out of the park today. It was a tight game and Millwood kept them in check although the Rays came alive in the last few innings and I was hoping that when I called for Aybar to be walked in the 9th to load the bases, so we could pitch to Riggins wouldn't bite us on our backsides, this time lady luck was on our side as Strop got Riggins out. |
