May 6th-9th

Game 1, Att: 39,764

Another tight one, thanks once again to another one of our bullpen meltdowns. In truth on another day the Red Sox would've won this but they failed to take the chance. In the bottom of the 9th with 1 out the ball hit to Young he threw the ball and it flew past Davis at 1stallowing Lowell to get to 2nd from then Hammel lost it and almost cost us the game. There were 3 home runs in the game; Davis hit his 6th of the year in the 7th and for Boston Drew hit his 3rd of the year in the 8th with 1 onand in the 9th with 1 on Durham hit his1st of the year.

Game 2, Att: 39,731

The game was done and dusted by the 5th. We had the best day with the bat since I took over the vlub it even glossed over a sub-par performance from McCarthy who give up 5 walks and 5 hits plus the usual buffet pitching from our bullpen. There were 4 home runs in the game all for us; In the 2nd with 2 on Duran got his 1st of the year(from his 1st hit of the year) in the 5th with 2 on Saltalamacchia got his 3rd of the year, in the 6th with 1 on Kinsler struck his 4th of the year and in the 7th Blalock got his 1st of the year. Aside from all the hits, Duran became only the 3rd Ranger/5th Rangers/Senators player to "HIT FOR THE CYCLE".

Game 3, Att: 36,270

Another game and another win. Holland pitched well giving up only 1 hit in 7 innings, Wilson gave up a few hits in the 9th but the Red Sox failed to get a runner past 2nd.

Game 4, Att: 39,876

Another shutout for our pitching staff but alot closer than yesterday's game. Millwood almost came back to haunt us and with a bit of run support he may well have recorded the win, but he didn't get it. Out of our 7 hits 5 came from the 8 and 9 spot.

Rangers News:
5/7 After several injuries to our minor league pitching staff, we signed Travis Chick who'd been a free agent since his release by the Los Angeles Dodgers last October. We also (re-)signed John Bannister to a minor league contract to bolster our minor league rotations.

5/8 Again due to injuries we signed Burke Badenhop from free agency to a 1 year deal worth $400,000. He may make it up to the Majors but at the moment he'll provide a more than useful arm at Oklahoma.
Elliott Johnson(2nd base) was also signed to a minor league contract due to injuries to 4 2nd base men in our farm system.

5/9 Esteban German, had been a free agent since his release by us last October, but he answered our call and signed a minor league contract for the rest of the year.

Rangers Achievements:
5/7 German Duran, Hit for the cycle Vs Boston Red Sox. Home run in 2nd, single in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, double in the 7th and triple in the 9th.

Achievements:
5/7 Coco Crisp(Kansas City Royals) 5 hit game in a 6-5 win Vs Chicago White Sox

Injuries around the League:
5/8 Hunter Pence(Houston Astros)-Strained hamstring- 4 weeks

Contract news:
5/8 Matt Capps(Kansas City Royals)- signs an extension for 1 year worth $4,710,000

Next up for us a 2 game series @

Game 1, Att: 40,689

Another one to file in the great escape file we have. Whilst Sheets was on the mound it looked like an Angel win, but the moment the Angels bullpen entered the game it rapidly changed to an Angels defeat. After the 3rd it looked out of reach after the 5th it looked like the fat lady's car had been started, but we sneaked our way back into the game to snatch it in the 10th. There were 4 home runs in the game all to the Angels: Aybar got his 1st of the year in the 3rd, same inning and Morales hit his 6th of the year a few hitters later and Napoli got his 7th of the year, heading into the 5th with 1 on Napoli hit his 8th of the year, but it turned out to be a wasted effort for the Angels.

Game 2, Att: 39,917

The run carries on as we win again, it was done and dusted by the 5th but the Angels kept within distance of us and maybe with a good inning could've snatched the game. There were 5 home runs in the game for us: In the 4th with 2 on Young hit his 4th of the year, in the 5th with 1 on Davis hit his 7th of the year and in the 9th he got home run number 8. For the Angels Izturis hit his 2nd of the year in the 5th and in the 8th Scott got his 4th of the year.

Game 1, Att: 48,894

One of the few teams we had a losing record against last year and it seems the Blue Jays want to keep that. They out hit us all day long and it was only due to a fluke that we lead heading into the 9th, but the Blue Jays fought back and took the win in the 11th. There were 4 home runs in the game 2 each, for us Cruz hit his 2nd of the year in the 2nd and Hamilton hit his 4th of the year in the 6th with 1 on, for Toronto, Rolen hit both, his 1st came in the 9th to tie the game and in the 11th with 1 on he hit his 3rd home run of the year.

Game 2, Att: 48,762

We more than made up for yesterday's defeat. It was close until the 7th when we added a few runs and in the 8th we added a few more to wrap the game up. Although Holland recorded 9 strikeouts most of them came on 3-2 we'd like him to record as many strikeouts but with fewer balls thrown. There were 2 home runs in the game both by us, Hamilton got his 5th of the year in the 1st with 1 on and in the 7th with 1 on Davis hit his 9th of the year.

Game 1, Att: 48,759

Oncwe again our aggressive base running pays off, as we took full advantage of the hits we got and the bases we stole as we eased to the win. Young hit the only home run of the game in the 6th for his 4th of the year.

Game 2, Att: 48,616

Another win but once again we had problems in the 9th as Strop tried his best to allow Detroit back into the game but he woke up and managed to hold on to the win to take the teams total to 25. There were 2 home runs in the game both for us, Hamilton got his 6th of the year in the 2nd and in the 6th with 1 on Cruz hit his 3rd of the year.

Game 3, Att: 49,031

The Tigers fought back and took the final game of the series as they out hit us and Bonderman pitched out of his skin as we struggled to get to him. The Tigers scored 4 home runs in the game to our none. Ordonez got the ball rolling in the 4th for his 7th of the year, in the 7th Koshansky got his 4th of the year with 1 on in the same inning Cabrera got his 6th of the year and in the 8th Thames hit his 7th as the Tigers cantered to an easy win.

Game 1, Att: 48,974

The Yankees were on fire today as they hammered us. McCarthy's troubles of missing the strikezone carried on today. It started off well for us with a 3 run 1st but the Yankees hit back with 8 runs in the next 2 innings ending the game and giving Burnett his 1st win of the year. There were 4 home runs in the game Davis hit ours for his 10th of the year in the 1st with 1 on for the Yankees Miranda hit a GRAND SLAM in the 3rd for his 5th of the year, Cano hit his 5th of the year in the 4th and Alex Rodriguez hit his 8th of the year in the 6th with 2 on.

Game 2, Att: 48,738

After yesterday it was important we ended our 2 game losing run, once again we made a quick start in the 1st but this time the Yankees didn't strike back as Holland was in total control, he did give up a few runs in the 8th but by that point the game was beyond their reach. There were 2 home runs in the game 1 for each side, Saltalamacchia hit his 4th of the year in the 1st with 1 on and for the Yankees Nady got his 9th of the year in the 9th.

Game 3, Att: 41,903

What looked to be a win in a hard fought game, imploded for us in the 8th as some woeful pitching from Wilson give the Yankees the win, and there was nothing we could do to get the runs back so the Yankees take the series 2-1. There were 3 home runs in the game, Fowler hit his 1st home run as a Ranger in the 5th for his 2nd of the year, Young hit his 5th of the year in the 6th and for the Yankees Swisher hit his 8th of the year in the 8th with 1 on.

May 21st-23rd

Game 1, Att: 33,233

A close one, but this year before this game we were 11-1 in 1 run games. It started off with the Atheltics scoring a couple of early runs before we hit back in the middle innings and Oakland then scored a few towards the end but they left it late and came up 1 run short to give us the win. There were 5 home runs in the game for us, Davis hit his 11th of the year in the 4th with 1 on and in the 5th with 1 on Fowler got his 3rd of the year, for Oakland; Suzuki hit his 2nd of the year in the 2nd, Ransom hit his 4th of the year in the 3rd and Sweeney got his 3rd of the year in the 7th.

Game 2, Att: 33,732

Today was all about Feliz as he pitched out of his skin, he didn't give up a hit until the 7th when Carter broke up the no hitter effort. He did walk 2 in the 9th and give up a run but I'll take that pitching effort from him every start.

Game 3, Att: 33,475

What was looking to be a comfortable win got alot closer than I'd like, as the Atheltics hit back in the 7th to bring it back to a 2 run game but then for once the Rangers bullpen did what it's paid to do. There were 6 home runs in the game 3 for each team for us, Byrd hit his 4th of the year in the 4th with 1 on in the same inning again with 1 on Duran hit his 2nd of the year and in the 5th Hamilton hit his 7th of the year. For Oakland Carter hit 2, his 1st came in the 1st and his 2nd in the 6th to give him 7 for the year Cust hit their other home run in the 4th for his 7th of the year.

May 24th-27th

Game 1, Att: 22,565

Our good start to the season carries on as does Seattle's poor start. We traded runs in the 1st innings but from then we were the only team to trouble the scorer as we added runs here and there when we needed too. There were 3 home runs in the game, Kinsler hit his 5th of the year in the 3rd with 1 on, in the 6th with 2 on Duran carried on his hot form with his 3rd of the year and for Seattle Balentien got his 5th of the year in the 1st.

Game 2, Att: 23,138

A game that Seattle should've won long before the 9th as they outhit as from the start. We scored they tied the game up we scored they tied it up, in the 9th it looked like we may have done just enough to sneek the win, until Strop stepped up to have a horror show in the 9th as he gave up 5 hits and the 3 runs the Mariner needed to take the win. Fowler hit the only home run of the game in the 3rd with 1 on for his 4th of the year.

Game 3, Att: 23,787

At one stage it looked like the Mariners were going to take back to back wins but a flurry of home runs from us pushed us just out of the Mariners reach. There were 6 home runs in the game, in the 5th Duran hit his 4th of the year, Cruz got his 4th of the year in the 7th and in the same inning Fowler got his 5th of the year, then in the 8th Byrd got his 5th of the year and in the 9th Andrus got his 2nd of the season, for Seattle Balentien hit his 6th of the year in the 3rd.

Game 4, Att: 22,288

We scored in the 1st and didn't score again until the 7th, but with Feliz on the mound at the moment 1 run is all you need, as he recorded his 2nd shutout of the year. Davis hit the only home run of the game in the 7th for his 12th of the year.

Game 1, Att: 38,802

A tight one at PETCO park and the Padres took it thnaks to some poor pitching in the 7th by McCarthy as he gave up 2 walks and a couple of hits to help the Padres cross the finishing line. In the 5th there was the 1st triple play under my management, as Young got the runner at 3rd threw the ball to 2nd and Duran got the ball to 1st before the batter made it there.

Game 2, Att: 39,776

Again the pitchers were on top at PETCO park as hits were hard to come by and both starters were in control for most of the time. The Padres opened the scoring in the 2nd and it looked like it may have stayed that way until we opened our account in the 6th with 2 runs we added another run in the 8th and that was enough for Strop not to blow it. Fowler hit the only home run of the game in the 6th for his 6th of the year.

Game 3, Att: 38,225

It seems we've got the hang at playing at PETCO park as we got a few hits and runs today to wrap the series 2-1. We kept the Padres quiet until they scored a couple of runs in the 9th. There were 2 home runs in the game both from Rangers bats, as Cruz hit his 5th of the year in the 6th and Byrd hit his 6th of the year in the 8th.

GM view:
I know it sounds silly to be concernd about McCarthy's form when we've got off to such a great start to the year and if we hadn't he probably would've been sent down to AAA to try and get some form. Hopefully in the next few weeks he'll rediscover his "radar". He has until the All-Star game to get back to how he pitched last year otherwise I'll be forced to look for another pitcher be it inhouse or elsewhere.

We've also been lucky in the fact we haven't suffered any major injuries this year and the few we have picked up have been day to day ones hopefully that will carry on for the rest of the year, although if we did have a few long term knocks we have decent players in most postions to answer the call.

Achievements:
5/28 Joe Mauer(Minnesota Twins) 20 game hitting streak
5/29 James Loney(Los Angeles Dodgers) 5 hits in a 5-4 win Vs Pittsburgh Pirates

I always love reading about teams that haven't had that much real life success, and this is one of those cases. The Rangers are one of those teams that I've always rooted for, even though I'm a Phillies fan, and this dynasty is very good. I like the way you present everything, and honestly feel like there should be more feedback for this. So far, it's been great, and I can't wait to read more.

May 31st- June 2nd

Game 1, Att: 49,267

The 3rd inning is where the game was won for us, as we took advantage of some helpful pitching and sloppy fielding to run in a boat full of runs. There was only 1 home run in the game it came from Young's bat in the 6th for his 6th of the year.

Game 2, Att: 48,879

Feliz was a little off color today, maybe it's because I allowed him to pitch to long in his previous start and it's a lesson I now have learnt. It was a close tight game right up until the final out as the Indians had a runner on 3rd in the 9th but just couldn't find a way to get him home, Strop did just enough to record his 14th save of the year. We hit both home runs in the game, Hamilton hit his 8th of the year in the 1st with 1 on and Byrd got his 7th of the year in the 2nd.

Game 3, Att: 49,491

For the 2nd game in 3 we had a big inning to put the game out of the Indians grasp. There were 4 home runs in the game 2 to each side, for us in the 4th Fowler cleraed the bases for a GRAND SLAM and his 7th of the year and the next batter Kinsler hit a solo shot for his 6th of the year, for the Indians Peralta hit his 4th of the year in the 5th with 1 on and in the same inning Cabrera hit his 4th of the year.
