New York Clinches ABC Championship

October 14, 1873

New York entered the day up 2 games with 2 games to play. They needed to win just one more game to clinch their first ABC Championship. They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the 3rd against Washington and that would be all they need as SP Jonathan Starr pitched another gem. Starr held the Nationals to only 2 runs, clinching the Championship for the Mutuals.
