No Pepper - An OOTP Alternate Baseball History
No Pepper - we've all heard the phrase. In this application it is the name of an historical telling of baseball run by OOTP in its own way. OOTP is in control of all aspects of this dynasty which begins with the 1901 season. We begin with the 16 teams that made up MLB a few years later (no team movement at this time). All subsequent drafts are run by the game. Financials are on so there will be player movement. AI trading is on and set to low to hopefully hold down the number of trades.
Minor leagues are as follows: AAA - International League/American Association of the era. AA - Southern League/Eastern League of the era. What will follow is a year by year journey through baseball's history. We will watch the heroes of yesteryear perform (or bomb) as OOTP would have it. I won't attempt to write storylines into the dynasty other than those OOTP throws me. I will attempt to hit the high notes of each season while also offering up my narration of things that seemed to be important to me. So sit back as No Pepper takes shape and enjoy the ride through the years that made baseball our national pastime, but remember.............NO PEPPER! Very competitive races are witnessed in both leagues. While the wrinkles are being ironed out in league offices, it seems the players havent missed a beat while acquiring new administration. Detroit's Tigers ride the highest scoring offense and the stingiest pitching staff to the American flag while Pittsburgh rides Rube Waddell's 25-8 record to the National flag, outlasting the Giants of Gotham in a very tight NL. May 21, 1901 - Socks Seybold of Pittsburgh goes 6 for 7 in a win over New York. July 3, 1901 - Yankee backstop Heinie Peitz hits for the cycle against the Philadelphia Athletics. 4 different hitting streaks of greater than 20 games are put up, led by Chick Stahl's 28 game streak for the Phillies. Pittsburgh and Detroit clash in the '01 Series as the Pirates ride the arm of Rube Waddell to a 4 games to 1 victory of the Motor City Kitties. Waddell's '01 campaign earns him NL Pitcher of the Year accolades. On to the 1902 amateur player draft! The first of its kinds in professional baseball as most of the players not earning a paycheck on the diamond will be hoping to catch on with a club in a paying job. Minor League Update: Jersey City Skeeters over Milwaukee Brewers in the AAA Series. Knoxville Smokies over Pittsfield Hillies in the AA Series. |

The Yankees, powered by Mike Donlin, Bill Bradley, and Duff Cooley sport the AL's most prolific offense. Crosstown, the Giants are pitching powered. Jack Taylor, Bill Donovan, and Bill Bernhard account for 67 wins on their own. Not bad in a 140 game season. 1902 Draft Highlights SP Addie Joss 1.1 to Washington Joe Tinker - Boston (A) Johnny Evers - Cleveland Patsy Dougherty - Detroit 7-31-02 - Bill Donovan hurls No Pepper's first No-hitter for the Giants vs St Louis 7-16-02 - Sammy Strang collects 6 hits for the White Sox against Detroit As stated earlier, its an all New York World Series as the Yanks face the pitching strong Giants. Jack Taylor wins 2 games for the Giants as he hurls 3 complete Series games with a 0.67 ERA to power the Giants to an exciting 7 game Series win over the rival Yankees! New York fans are alive with baseball fever and 1903 looks to be another great season for No Pepper! Minor League Update: Rochester Red Wings over Milwaukee Brewers in the AAA Series. Bridgeport's Bears defeat the Lookouts of Chattanooga in the AA Series. |

Ed Delahunty has a 20 and 30 game hitting streak during the course of the season for the Browns. The Athletics' pitching staff is the toughest in the land while Cincinnati's Reds boast the most damaging offensive club, setting up another World Series pitting the best pitching and the best hitting squads in the league. Philadelphia's Ned Garvin proves once again that good pitching beats good hitting, powering the Athletics to the 1903 World Series win 4 games to 2 over the Reds. 1903 marks the third time in as many opportunities that different clubs hoise their respective league pennants. Minor League Update: Jersey City's Skeeters win the AAA championship by beating the Redbirds of Columbus in the AAA Series. The Southern League's Atlanta Crackers defeat the Eastern League's Providence Grays to take the AA title. |

Mathewson Pitches Tigers Past Reds!
1904 Draft Nuggets: Frank Schulte 1.2 Yankees Frank Corridon 1.6 St Louis (N) Miller Huggins 1.13 Philadelphia (A) Art Devlin 1.16 Chicago Cubs ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Doc Gessler BKN Outstanding Pitcher - Frank Kitson CIN Rookie of the Year - RF Harry Lumley BKN NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Roy Thomas PIT .305 RBI - Moose McCormick CHN 77 HR - Jake Stahl CIN 8 Wins - Frank Kitson CIN 25 ERA - Carl Lundgren PHN 1.62 K's - Earl Moore PHA 181 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Mike Donlin NYY Outstanding Pitcher - Red Ames CLE Rookie of the Year - 2B Miller Huggins PHA AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Mike Donlin NYY .342 RBI - Buck Freeman PHA 72 HR-Charlile Hemphill DET 8 Wins - 3 with 23 ERA - Red Ames CLE 1.25 K's - Red Ames CLE 247 Points of Interest: 5-4-04 - Rube Waddell strikes out 16 Giants for Pittsburgh. 7-13-04 - Red Ames strikes out 15 Yankees for Cleveland. 9-20-04 - Jack McCarthy hits for the cycle for the Boston Braves against Philadelphia. Kid Elberfeld has a 25 game hitting streak for Cincinnati. Frank Chance has a 32 game hitting streak for the Boston Braves. Detroit's staff of Christy Mathewson, Dummy Taylor, Ted Lewis, and Pete Dowling combine for 78 wins and drive the Tigers to the AL flag. Over in the NL, Cincinnati's pitching is second in the NL and the offense is best on the circuit. This sets up yet another great series for No Pepper fans to witness. Fans are somewhat disappointed as Tiger pitching overwhelms the Reds' offense, taking the title in 5 games. Minor League Update: Toronto tops Indianapolis as the Maple Leafs hoist the AAA Series flag. The Pelicans of New Orleans top the Bridgeport Bears to take the AA title. |

Tribe Scalps Dodgers in '05 Series!
1905 Draft Nuggets: Branch Rickey 1.2 CIN Ty Cobb 1.4 SLC Hal Chase 1.7 NYY ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - George Stone BKN Outstanding Pitcher - Mordecai Brown CHN Rookie of the Year - Nig Clarke CHN NL Stat Leaders: Avg - George Stone BKN .313 RBI - Harry Lumley BKN 70 HR - Tim Jordan PIT 14 Wins - Mordecai Brown CHN 24 ERA - Mordecai Brown CHN 1.58 K's - Rube Waddell NYG 252 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Mike Donlin SLB Outstanding Pitcher - Dummy Taylor DET Rookie of the Year - Jake Thielman CHA AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Willie Keeler WAS .341 RBI - Sherry Magee NYY 71 HR- Harry Davis NYY 10 Wins - 2 with 22 ERA - Chick Robitaille CLE 1.63 K's - Christy Mathewson DET 184 Points of Interest: Chick Fraser, Christy Mathewson, Harry Howell, and Ned Garvin all toss no hitters during the season. 8 SP win 20+ games in 1905. Cleveland's pitching staff (top to bottom) was absolutely sick this season, giving up only 2.8 rpg. Well ahead of their AL counterparts. Brooklyn wins a very competitive NL circuit this season. No less than 6 teams were within 7 games of the leaders at season's end, Chicago coming up one game short. The '05 series looked to be a mismatch as Cleveland should be the definite favorite over the Bums. This proved to be somewhat true, but Brooklyn fans did get to see 2 Dodger victories before the Tribe hoisted the flag, becoming the 5th different club to claim the No Pepper Series title in as many seasons. Minor League Update: Toronto repeats as AAA champions, besting Minneapolis' Millers in the AAA Series. The Pittsfield Hillies claimed their first AA title by defeating the Chattanooga Lookouts in the AA Series. |

Reds Veto Washington Bid for Title!
1906 Draft Nuggets: Jack Coombs 1.7 NYG Eddie Collins 5.9 CIN ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Frank Chance BOS Outstanding Pitcher - Mordecai Brown CHN Rookie of the Year - Big Jeff Pfeffer PIT NL Stat Leaders: Avg - George Stone BKN .327 RBI - Frank LaPorte BSN 81 HR - George Stone BKN 8 Wins - 2 with 23 ERA - Buck Ewing CIN 1.91 K's - Rube Waddell NYG 229 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Honus Wagner WAS Outstanding Pitcher - Doc White WAS Rookie of the Year - Orval Overall WAS AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Homer Smoot CLE .328 RBI - Homer Smoot CLE 82 HR- Harry Davis NYY 7 Wins - Doc White WAS 23 ERA - Doc White WAS 1.28 K's - Red Ames CLE 225 Points of Interest: 5 SP win 20+ games. Washington outlasts New York by 2 games using the best AL offense and the #2 AL staff to wrestle the pennant from the pinstripers. Led by Honus Wagner at .316, the Senators also sported two 20 game winners in Addie Joss and Doc White. Cincinnati returns for the second time as the NL representative. The Reds were powered by Elmer Flick and Joe McGinnity on offense. They were led on the bump by Bill Donovan and Bob Ewing. What looked to be one for the ages was over in 6 games as Cincinnati claimed the No Pepper title. Jesse Tannehill posted a 0.50 ERA in two starts for the Reds. Minor League Update: Columbus claims the AAA Series flag, besting Rochester. Knoxville beats the Allentown Dukes in the AA Series. |

Mathewson/Yankees Defeat Cardinals!
1907 Draft Nuggets: Walter Johnson 1.1 SLN Tris Speaker 4.5 Red Sox ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Sammy Strang BKN Outstanding Pitcher - Frank Corridon STL Rookie of the Year - Walter Johnson STL NL Stat Leaders: Avg - 2 at .306 RBI - Bill Hinchman BKN 63 HR - Harry Lumley PHI 10 Wins - 2 with 22 ERA - Walter Johnson STL 0.66 K's - Rube Waddell NYG 184 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Honus Wagner WAS Outstanding Pitcher - Jack Powell CLE Rookie of the Year - Nap Rucker DET AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Honus Wagner .305 RBI - 2 with 67 HR- Frank Schulte NYY 6 Wins - 2 with 25 ERA - Christy Mathewson NYY 1.21 K's - Nap Rucker DET 183 Points of Interest: 5-29-07 - Jack Chesbro hurls a no-hitter for Chicago against Washington. 6-4-07 - Frank Corridon no-hits Brooklyn for the Cardinals. 9 SP collect 20+ wins. 3 hitting streaks of at least 20 games. Christy Mathewson and Vic Willis power the Yankee staff, collecting 49 wins on their own. The Yankee offense is stellar as well, ranking 2nd in the AL. It includes Frank Schulte, Sherry Magee, harry Davis, and Larry Doyle. St Louis rides a few good drafts in a row to prominence in the NL. Cardinal hitting ranked second only to Brooklyn while the Red Bird staff was head and shoulders above their NL counterparts. Bolstered by rookie Walter Johnson, the St Louis staff also includes Frank Corridon, Al Orth, and Henry Schmidt. A match of mirror images is what the 1907 Series is billed as and it falls but one game short of going the distance as the Yankees prevail in 6. Christy Mathewson goes 3-0 in 3 starts with 3 CG and an ERA of 0.33 to power the Bombers. Minor League Update: Louisville's Colonels best Toronto for the AAA Series win. The Albany Senators take the AA Series title, besting Chattanooga's Lookouts. |

Redbird Retribution! Cards Defeat Yanks!
1908 Draft Nuggets: Gavvy Cravath 1.5 SLA Buck Herzog 1.6 CLE Doc Crandall 1.8 PHIN Rube Marquard 1.10 CLE Frank 'Home Run' Baker 1.16 STL ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Ty Cobb STL Outstanding Pitcher - Bill Donovan CIN Rookie of the Year - Frank Arellanes NYG NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ty Cobb STL .365 RBI - Ty Cobb STL 77 HR - Jake Stahl CIN 9 Wins - Bill Donovan CIN 22 ERA - Frank Arellanes NYG 1.46 K's - Jimmy Dygert 176 PHI AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Johnny Bates DET Outstanding Pitcher - Christy Mathewson NYY Rookie of the Year - Joe Lake STL AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Johnny Evers CLE .313 RBI - 2 with 60 HR- Sam Crawford CHI 6 Wins - Tully Sparks NYY 21 ERA - Christy Mathewson NYY 1.42 K's - Heinie Berger STL 206 Points of Interest: 8-17-08 - Wee Willie Keeler collects his 2500th hit. 9-22-08 - Alan Storke collects 6 hits for the Braves against Pittsburgh. 6 SP win 20 games. Brooklyn Dodger George Stone has a 25 game hitting streak. Defending champs, the Yankees return to the Fall Classic with the top rated AL offense and third best staff to face another repeat participant, St Louis' Cardinals. St Louis, as well, has the best offense and #3 staff. This should be a great repeat contest. Last year, New York prevailed 4 games to 2. St Louis is led by 20 y/o Ty Cobb and 21 y/o Frank Baker on offense and by Walter Johnson and Frank Corridon on the bump. The Yanks are young as well, led by Larry Doyle, Sherry Magee, and Al Bridwell at the plate. On the bumps, the Bombers are wicked with Christy Mathewson, Tully Sparks, and Vic Willis all winning 20 games. An exciting series ensues with Tom Hughes getting the decisive Game 7 victory for the Cardinals as they redeem themselves from losing last season to the Yanks. Minor League Update: Newark's Bears (NYY) defeat the Kansas City Blues (SLB) in the AAA Series. The Mobile Bears (SLB) defeat the New Haven Profs (BOSN) to take the AA Series. |

Best Team Ever? Cards Destroy NL!
1909 Draft Nuggets: Zack Wheat 1.15 STLN Ted Easterly 1.16 DET ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Ty Cobb STL Outstanding Pitcher - Barney Pelty STL Rookie of the Year - Zack Wheat STL NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ty Cobb STL .424 RBI - Frank Baker STL 113 HR - Jake Stahl CIN 8 Wins - 2 Cards with 22 ERA - Barney Pelty STL 2.07 K's - Chief Bender BOS 178 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Birdie Cree CLE Outstanding Pitcher - Nap Rucker DET Rookie of the Year - Rube Manning CHI AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ted Easterly DET .329 RBI - Beals Becker CHI 75 HR- Beals Becker CHI 6 Wins - Jack Chesbro CHI 23 ERA - Christy Mathewson NYY 1.61 K's - Russ Ford PHI 176 Points of Interest: 4-30-09 - Ned Garvin no-hits the Indians for the Yankees. 7-31-09 - John Hummel hits 3 HR for St Louis against Cincinnati 8-22-09 - Lefty Leifield hurls a no-hitter against Cleveland for the Browns. 9-21-09 - Frank Baker goes 6 for 6 for the Cardinals against Philadelphia 5 SP have 20 wins. Ty Cobb hits in 23 straight games safely for the Cardinals. St Louis wins its third straight NL title by BLISTERING the league by 25 games over the second place Giants. St Louis' dominance was evident in both pitching (allowing 1 fewer rpg than anyone) and hitting (scoring almost 1 rpg more than anyone). Ty Cobb has become a hitting machine and is now working with Frank Baker and a host of other young Card hitters. Chicago wins the AL pennant by two games over the defending AL champs, New York. The Pale Hose do it with pitching and have Jack Chesbro and Rube Manning to thank for the title. In the series, Chicago was no match for this potent Cardinal machine, losing in 6 games to the St Louis squad. Minor League Update: Syracuse's Chiefs (BOSN) defeat the Minneapolis Millers (STLN) for the AAA Series title. The Memphis Chicks (STLN) defeat the Hartford Senators (PHIN) for the AA Series crown. Cards Threepeat with Baker/Cobb!
1910 Draft Nuggets: Max Carey 1.8 CIN Jake Daubert 1.16 SLC Shano Collings 2.13 CLE ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Frank Baker STL Outstanding Pitcher - Tom Hughes STL Rookie of the Year - Jake Daubert STL NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ty Cobb STL .404 RBI - Frank Baker STL 152 HR - Frank Baker 16 Wins - Frank Corridon STL 26 ERA - Tom Hughes STL 1.69 K's - Chief Bender CIN 169 -- signed with CIN from BOSN during the offseason AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Johnny Bates DET Outstanding Pitcher - Christy Mathewson DET Rookie of the Year - Bert Daniels PHI AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ted Easterly DET .341 RBI - Sherry Magee NYY 103 HR- Tris Speaker BOS 11 Wins - Nap Rucker DET 25 ERA - Ed Walsh BOS 1.82 K's - Russ Ford PHI 180 Points of Interest: 7-18-10 - Honus Wagner (NYG) collects his 200th hit. 8-24-10 - Christy Mathewson (DET) gets his 200th win. 9-22-10 - Frank Baker hits 3 HR for the Cardinals against Boston. Frank Baker is the first man to break the 150 RBI barrier with 152 this season in the expanded 154 game season. 7 SP win 20 games. Returning after a one year hiatus, the Yanks enter the 1910 World Series with the AL's top offense at 5.3 rpg. Powered by Hal Chase, Sherry Magee, and Fred Snodgrass, the Bombers look to take back the Series Title from a familiar opponent. St Louis wins its 4th straight NL crown and has made a home here in the Series as of late. This version of the Cardinals doesnt mess around, winning 110 games in the newly expanded schedule. Tops in both categories, the Cards score 6 rpg while giving up on 3.6. That'll win 110 games, I'd say. Baker, Cobb, and Wheat are joined by ROY Jake Daubert at 1B while the staff remains staunch with Corridon, Hughes, and Schmidt with a young Walter Johnson learning the trade. Once again, too much skill on the Cardinal club as they take the Yankees down in 6 games, earning their third straight No Pepper Series title. Minor League Update: The Montreal Royals best the Columbus Red Birds to win the AAA Series. Albany's Senators beat the Nashville Vols in the AA Series. |

For the 4th time in 5 years, the Yankees and Cardinals face off in the Fall Classic. All the usual Cards are back, but add Ping Bodie to the mix and you have another potent club flirting with 100 wins. Walter Johnson comes into his own in 1911 and Cardinals fly into their 5th straight Series looking for title #4. New York looks for its second title in 5 attempts in the Series. Newly signed Mordecai Brown wins 18 and leads the staff for the Bombers. Young Stuffy McInnis at 1b breaks in and hits .315 for the Yanks, but again the Cardinals are too strong to deal with as the Yanks are swept out in 4 games. Minor League Update: Columbus bests the Baltimore Orioles to win the AAA Series. Chattanooga wins the AA Series over the Springfield Ponies. |

Senators catcher Ivey Wingo has a 31 game hitting streak. Cincinnati rode the arm of Chief Bender to a narrow one game advantage over St Louis to oust the 5 time defending champs of the NL from the World Series. The Cardinal offense was still tops, but the Reds' staff overcame that by the smallest of margins. New York wins the AL for the third straight time and fifth in six years. Sherry Magee, Stuffy McInnis, and Larry Doyle power the offensive-minded Yanks to the Series trying to win one after losing two in a row. When the smoke cleared, in six games, the Yankees claimed their second Series win in 5 tries. Minor League Update: Newark defeats Columbus in the AAA Series. Yanks Beat Familiar Foe For Repeat!
1913 Draft Nuggets: Dutch Leonard 1.2 DET Rube Foster 1.5 CHIA Bob Shawkey 1.9 BOSA Wally Schang 1.16 NYY Edd Roush 2.12 PHIN ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Frank Baker STL Outstanding Pitcher - Walter Johnson STL Rookie of the Year - Doc Ayers BOS NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ty Cobb STL .355 RBI - Frank Baker STL 109 HR - Frank Baker STL 16 Wins - Chief Bender CIN 23 ERA - Walter Johnson STL 1.98 K's - Walter Johhnson STL 225 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Eddie Collins NYY Outstanding Pitcher - Tom Seaton NYY Rookie of the Year - Wally Schang NYY AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Eddie Collins NYY .354 RBI - Steve Evans NYY 116 HR- Steve Evans NYY 16 Wins - 2 Yanks with 22 ERA - Hugh Bedient CHI 2.07 K's - Bill Bailey WAS 205 Points of Interest: 7-9-13 - Frank Baker collects 6 hits for the Cardinals against Pittsburgh. Steve Evans (NYY), Frank Baker (STLN), and Al Wickland (NYG) all hit for the cycle in 1913. 10 SP win 20 games. 9-8-13 - Mike Donlin collects his 2000th base hit for the Senators. The offensive minded Yankees return to the World Series trying to repeat after beating the Reds last season. This time they face a familiar foe in the St Louis Cardinals, who are here for the 6th time in the last 7 seasons. The Yanks are powered by Eddie Collins, Stuffy McInnis, and Larry Doyle on offense. Tom Seaton and Hub Perdue man the bump for the New Yorkers most of the time. St Louis wins 100 games for the third time and led the NL in both offensive and pitching rankings. Cobb, Baker, Wheat, and Chief Meyers lead the way at the plate while gone is Frank Corridon to free agency. Not to worry, the staff still includes Walter Johnson, Tom Hughes, and Charlie Chech. Exorcising some demons, the Yankees dispatch their nemesis in 5 games to take their second straight No Pepper title. Minor League Update: Columbus(CLE) defeats Montreal(BKN) for the AAA Series title. Albany(NYY) beats Memphis(STLN) to take the AA Series title. |

Cards Get 5th World Series Win!
1914 Draft Nuggets: Braggo Roth 1.8 CIN SP Babe Ruth 2.3 DET ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Frank Baker STL Outstanding Pitcher - Walter Johnson STL Rookie of the Year - Guy Morton NYG NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Joe Jackson PHI .365 RBI - Frank Baker STL 101 HR - Bill Kenworthy BOS 11 Wins - Walter Johnson STL 28 ERA - Addie Joss NYG 1.76 K's - Walter Johhnson STL 196 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Eddie Collins NYY Outstanding Pitcher - Dick Rudolph DET Rookie of the Year - Erv Lange BOS AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Eddie Collins NYY .366 RBI - Steve Evans NYY 91 HR- Gavvy Cravath STL 21 Wins - Dick Rudolph DET 23 ERA - Joe Benz BOS 1.44 K's - Joe Benz BOS 170 Points of Interest: 4-14-14 - Joe Benz of the Red Sox no-hits Washington. 8 SP win 20 games. 7-4-14 - Mordecai Brown gets his 200th win for the Yankees. 8-20-14 - Christy Mathewson gets his 250th win for Detroit. Another World Series; another Yanks/Cards matchup. This is the 6th such Fall Classic. Cards top the NL in both hitting and pitching again this season led by the usuals. Wally Pipp pushes Jake Daubert for the first sacker job. Both do well. Cobb, Baker, and Wheat are, well, Cobb, Baker, and Wheat. Walter Johnson wins 28 games this season and has Chech and Lefty Tyler helping him out. New York's Stuffy McInnis anchors the AL's best offense while aging Mordecai Brown and Eddie Plank achor the staff of the AL's second ranked pitching group. St Louis vanquishes the Yanks in 6 games to win their 5th No Pepper championship. Minor League Update: Columbus(CLE) defeats Newark(NYY) for the AAA Series title. Providence(BKN) beats Atlanta(WAS) to take the AA Series title. |

Cards Dismiss White Sox, Repeat!
1915 Draft Nuggets: Rogers Hornsby 1.3 BKN Carl Mays 1.4 STLA George Sisler 1.14 BOSA Joe Judge 2.1 PHIA ![]() NL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Ty Cobb STL Outstanding Pitcher - Claude Hendrix BKN Rookie of the Year - Rogers Hornsby BKN NL Stat Leaders: Avg - Ty Cobb STL .357 RBI - Ty Cobb STL 81 HR - Rogers Hornsby BKN 13 Wins - Claude Hendrix BKN 23 ERA - Charlie Chech STL 1.64 K's - Guy Morton NYG 161 AL Award Winners: Outstanding Hitter - Benny Kauff CHI Outstanding Pitcher - Jeff Tresreau CHI Rookie of the Year - Joe Judge PHI AL Stat Leaders: Avg - Benny Kauff CHI .335 RBI - Joe Connoly PHI 86 HR- Dutch Zwilling DET 16 Wins - Jeff Tesreau CHI 22 ERA - Reb Russell WAS 1.53 K's - Jeff Tesreau CHI 182 Points of Interest: Tex McDonald (CIN) and Joe Connolly (PHIA) hit for the cycle this season. 4-29-15 - Honus Wagner collects his 2500th hit. 5-4-15 - Jeff Tesreau no-hits the Indians for the White Sox. 8-2-15 - Addie Joss gets his 200th win. 8-3-15 - Ty Cobb gets his 2000th hit. 9 SP win 20 games in 1915. St Louis flirted with 100 wins again, falling just one short. Its a different Cardinal pitching staff. Walter Johnson has moved through free agency, signing a three year deal with the Red Sox during the offseason. No problem. The Cards sign Ralph Caldwell and the staff is tops in the NL once again. Hitting is no problem in St Lou. The regulars of Cobb, Baker, and Wheat are still there along with a few newer guys. The Cardinals move through the NL with ease again. Chicago's White Sox didnt burn up any statistical categories except the one that counts and move into the Series a decided underdog. Led on offense by Benny Kauff and Jack Tobin, the Sox look to pitch their way to victory. To do that, they'll count on Rube Foster and Jack Tesreau. Good plan, but not equipped to carry it out. St Louis dispatches the Sox in five to win another No Pepper Series title. Minor League Update: Montreal beats Columbus to win the AAA Series title. Hartford defeats Nashville to take the AA Series title. |
