I like how the Mariners don't totally suck in your sims. I still can't explain the Mets though.

The Mets right now are doing it with mirrors, although they're first in the league in hitting, they are last in the league in pitching. They will cool off eventually(John Stearns-.330 ,Bob Bailor-.318 will not keep hitting like that) and when they do,they will begin their descent. As for Seattle, they have a pretty good rotation(Bannister,G Perry,M. Moore, and J Beattie) which has pretty much carried them. That said, they are 10th in team batting average(.248) and 9th in ERA(3.48) which tells me,that this won't last as well.

Dotson No-Hits Milwaukee!

Comiskey Park,Chicago Ill.-At the ripe old age of 23,Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Rich Dotson has made MLB history, throwing the first complete game no hitter by a White Sox pitcher since Joe Horlen no-hit the Tigers back in September of 1967! In the 2-1 Chicago victory,Dotson allowed just 1 walk while striking out 7,but his one walk(in the 4th inning to Paul Molitor) did cost him the shutout,as Molitor stole 2nd and eventually scored on a Ben Ogilvie RBI sac fly.Beyond that,Dotson was flawless, allowing no Milwaukee base runners over the final 5 innings.

That's amazing about the Mets. Because those teams had some pitching, it was the hitting they lacked. Of course, they ruined John Stearns by trying to play him at third base...idiots.

One thing about this game, you just never know.To some people that's a big turnoff, that a team like the 82' Mets, who won just 65 games in real life turns around and wins a division in the sim. They want a sim in the strictest sense, with no variation from real life.I don't want that,I like the fact that anything can happen, and guess what.If the games were played again in real life the results would be different as well..Teams catch fire, they slump, injuries happen, guys have career years, guys have awful years. You just never know....

I think it's great. I'm watching Stan Musial crash after a great rookie year while watching Ty Wigginton become a dominant force...you want some changes as long as they aren't TOO prominent. I know what happened in real life. I want an alternate reality based on real life but not to the letter.

MLB News And Notes

Stunning news out of Kansas City, where the struggling Royals have fired GM John Schuerholz and manager Dick Howser following a languid 12-23 start in which the Royals found themselves in last place in the AL West,8 games behind first place Seattle. No immediate replacements were named.

In Philadelphia, things are a bit more cheerful,as the Phillies have come to terms with 3B Mike Schmidt on a huge 5 year deal worth a total of $18,000,000.The deal makes Schmidt the 2nd highest paid player in the game, behind Boston's Dwight Evans.

The Phillies have also re-signed 1B Pete Rose and SS Ivan Dejesus to contract extensions, with Rose getting a 1 year $675,000 dollar deal and DeJesus getting 2 years at $150,000 per season.

Red Sox starter Bruce Hurst had it all working on Thursday,as he blanked the Royals on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 3 in the 7-0 Boston victory.

Indians pitcher Rick Sutcliffe and Angels 1B Don Baylor have both been suspended for 6 games each for their parts in an ugly brawl between the teams on Friday.Neither player could be reached for comment.

In other suspension news,American League president Lee McPhail has suspended White Sox CF Rudy Law for two games following his bumping of umpire Joe Brinkman on Friday.

White Sox slugger Greg Luzinski was on fire on Sunday, going 4 for 5 with 2 doubles,3 RBI and 2 runs scored in Chicago's 14-2 drubbing of the Brewers

The Chicago White Sox and LF Steve Kemp have come to terms on a 3 year contract extension worth $1,600,000 per season.

Believe it or not, at this same time in real life, the New York Mets were 19-16, 3rd in the NLE and 2.5 games behind.

Would that be the "golden age" of baseball (1921-1939)?

You're pretty insightful pal.I'm going to start in 1924(chosen by ESPN's Page 2 as one of the 10 best seasons in baseball history) You had a tremendous World Series with Walter Johnson getting his only WS title, defeating the Giants in an extra innings 7th game thriller. You had Rogers Hornsby hitting a mid boggling .424,Babe Ruth continuing his assault on the American League, batting a league leading .378 with 46 homers, and best of all you had two great pennant races between NY,Brooklyn and Pittsburgh in the NL and Washington,New York and Detroit in the AL.This should be a blast!
